Here's the thing about sour patch kids, or sour candy in general, there's malic ACID in it to make it sour. Matt's tongue started bleeding because it was gradually being corroded while he ate

Malic acid is a sour sugar that is rough against his toung which makes it bleed
@@KDB349 I don't want anyone to read that comment and then be scared of sour candy (if you don't like it that's fine) and honestly there are plenty of different kinds of acid out there and it's in things you'd never think of, there's citric acid in numerous different fruits and malic acid isn't very corrosive but has a sour taste so it's put in things to make them sour and because it's not very strong it's perfectly fine in small amounts but once the concentration goes up it can start to be damaging. It's no different than accidentally holding a warhead in one spot on your tongue too long and having it start bleeding.
