This was super helpful. Thank you very much! I took mine apart like you said and the Pistons move fine. I sprayed it with WD-40 bolted everything back on started it up but no water pressure. I had already ordered the replacement part then after an hour, I decided to try it one last time, and it started right up and with normal pressure.
Only thing I would really recommend is trashing the POS (gold colored) thermal relief valve, and buying a proper one. This gold colored one is made of some tinny type of aluminum or something like that, and can blow apart. Mine blew apart second time I used the pressure washer (the head got clean blown off). Get a CAT thermal relief, or any number of other proper brass units on the market. Just make sure the temp rating is similar at 140-145 F.
@@BigBear-- Fair nenough. I'm using a Cat 66DX, and de-tarnishing all the brass on the manifold head now. Getting used to seeing green brass hgaha If it's a shiny gold color, it may be a titanium nitride (TiN) PVD coating over some base metal, likely stainless steen, or an anodized Aluminum. I work for a CNC shop, and we do a lot of metal coating work. Either way it may be a rust inhibitor over a base metal with carbon content, which would explain why they rust once that coating is compromised. I won't use AAA pumps. Seen far too many of them fail. They are poorly made, and widely used to save money on residential washers you find in big box stores overwhelmingly. I was so close to buying a 4KPSI DeWalt washer, until I saw the pump was a AAA. I just spent the money up front and got the GX engine and Cat pump, instead on a North Star.
Great video very straight forward thank you, I have very little pressure and the power washer pump oil is very milky in appearance, if I change the manifold like the video do you think this would fix the problem?
eBay. Put in the pump make and model, and "seal kit" and you should find them. Also, compare with Amazion once you find them for best price. Amazon is often cheaper.
What does it mean when the pump is pressuring up the wand so much when you let go of the trigger, the trigger will not work again and you have to take apart the one and press the little valve inside hard on the cement to release all the built up pressure.?? Is this my dump valve that is not dumping?
I started the unit granted I only used it maybe twice I purchased it from Lowes a couple years ago and no water coming out of th when I pulled the trigger and after a few minutes water came out of the pressure valve then cut it off don't want to damage the pump .What do you think I should do? I have this same model you have in the video pS60982
Is it normal for AAA 3800/3.5 to drop a few drops between a manifold and the crankcase? Just replaced all the seals an noticed a few drops from the bottom.
I have a Simpson pump with the GX200 and a AAA pump and mine died after probably 10 hours. Zero pressure. I took it apart and o don’t see any bad seals so I’m not sure if mine is a bad unloaded or what’s going on.
I have a practically brand new 3700 it will build pressure, but looses after two seconds and stays out unless I let off the trigger and let it build back. Could this be my issue. It's only been uses twice
I have a 530010 AAA pump that is shooting water out between the brass head and block plus water in the oil. I shut it off as soon as I discovered it. It was still making good pressure. Just seals or something more serious? I bought a new pump for $368 but am interested in repairing the leaking one as a spare if it's cost effective. Advice?
Take the manifold head off, inspect the pump crank case (triplex?) and see if the plungers move as they should. If they do, the crankcase is good, and internals are working. oil may be blow-by between the oil in the crank case for the cams to operate, goi9ng to the high pressure seals in the manifold and mixing with the water at high pressure. Check your sight glass for oil level, drain that crank oil (5W30 no detergents) and inspect all seals. seal back up, replace oil to half of sight glass. Then take the manifold apart, and check the seals and valves/bushings/springs inside of the manifold for weaer, damage, etc.. reassemble with a new valve and seal kit(s) for both high and low pressure sides (inner, where plungers are, and both outer @ 90 degrees from each other, at least on Cat pumps) and replace those as needed. Before you reassemble everything, if you see tarnishing on the brass manifold, clean that up using barkeeper's friend, Flitz tarnish remover, or a combination of baking soda, hot water, salt, and vinegar, or a lemon flesh with salt. Any of these are non-destructive tarnish removing hacks, that will loosen or remove the tarnish, allowing youto polish as needed to return the luster and make solid sealing surfaces.
LOL yeah, the brass manifold head for my Cat pump is $506 to replace, and I'm not even sure if that includes the plungers, relief falve, unloader, etc.. that may be JUST the big brass chunk, no seals etc.
Hey man. I have the PS3228 and it stopped providing pressure after the second time using it. You think this could be the issue? Same AAA pump. Apparently they’re garbage. No soap or anything ran through it.
Have that exact unit, I cannot get suction through the tube that comes with it, for detergents. I inserted a wire and feel the spring inside...what's the trick please ?
Try removing the gun and hose from pump and see if it pulls soap if it does then problem is with gun most likely. They need a certain amount of restriction to work properly and the only works with the blue or black soap tips.
Bought this thing a year ago… can’t believe I’m already dealing with this!! Of course the engine is bulletproof but wish they didn’t attach a POS pump.
Same bruh. Crazy thing is I used mine about a month ago, no issues but then go to use it today and WTF no pressure? It seems likeit has to be something more simple than this repair. If not, Imma gonna be pissed.
Same thing happened to me only a year after I bought and only I used for no more then 50 hours. 🤬 Honda Engine is going to last forever but the pump is trash.
I’ve seen the key missing on quite a few of these, right from the factory. If it’s brand new and you have no pressure, take pump off and check the key.

On the off chance you see this could I get some advice? Mine had a loss of pressure so I took the pump off and springs and small metal disc's fell out. What caused the failure? And it looked like it had plastic crushed inside of the bores
Most likely got foreign debris passed through the system. Is the water inlet screen in place its probably missing I bet. Always turn water on and flush hose before attaching the hose to the pump just incase dirt, rocks, bugs get in.

Most companies don't sell just one seal, they sell a seal or repair KIT that has all of the seals and bushings in one package, typically vacuum sealed. Even the commercial grade companies like CAT do this. Also, if one seal failed first, due to chemical exposure, or leaving water in the pump over the winter, or debris damage, etc, the rest are likely damaged to a nearly identical extent, and will need to be replaced. Every time you pull off that manifold, you risk damaging any good seals you had recently already replaced, so it actually IS better to replace all of them at once. -Engineer.
I was looking at replacement manifolds. Are they really about 250 dollars? Is it possible to just replace a seal if it’s worn out to save all that money? Thanks for your time!
We're having trouble, we took everything apart. One of the ceramics was cracked which we replaced and we don't see any other issues. We put it all back together but water is still leaking out of the bottom middle piston area and it seems like we're getting water into our oil. Pressure is very low compared to normal. Any suggestions?
I wonder if this manifold will work on a Simpson Model# PS60995-S? What i see here in this video literally looks identical to the one that is on my machine except mine is black like the rest of the pump instead of that brass color.

Do you recommend just changing the seals or is it really hard
You can use a 10mm allen on the hose connecter.

How about a video on adjusting the pump pressure and unloaded, on mine I can adjust the pressure by turning the black knob but how about the unloaded?
