- Superb Hawaiian ukulele artist Taimane and her backing group perform a medley of guitar classics in a New York public performance. The occasion was Hawaiian Airlines' introduction of a non-stop service from New York to Honolulu in June 2012. See more of Taimane at www.taimane.com/main/
The venue was the fabulous Pershing Square Cafe. Sound engineering was provided by E S Audio Inc., who did a great job on location -- any issues with the sound are my own fault. My apologies for the sound quality... the audio might be a little loud. I found the problem about half way through. Видеоклипы
Sometimes I search, but sometimes I just let myself be overwhelmed by what suddenly crosses my path on YT. Taimane performances are always a dream come true. I wish she would sing more. I just love her voice. I was surely not in N.Y. on that day and it is better that way. Had I found out later that she possibly performed somewhere close to where I was and I didn't know it, I more than likely would have blown 💥 a fuse. I hope everyone there back then really appreciated this wonderful performance from Taimane and her fellow musicians. From the applause it seemed as if there were not all that many people present. What a shame. Thanks for posting this video. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
I've seen plenty of Taimane's YT offerings and they're recorded in many locations across the globe. She reminds of a travelling minstral from English mediaeval days, bringing joy and a break from hardship and persecution to the populous.
Normally I say that her performance is unbelievable because I don't have words for it. But today I must say it is ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE.
And I liked to watch her guitarist too. She is absolutely great too, and I liked see her smiling and breathing every time she had finished some rather difficult parts. Keep on, you guys. I love you.
Taimane and Jazz always rock the house. I absolutely love their performances. Pure Awesomeness!!!
Regardless that she is playing 'flamenco' she is young and has time to reflect on her birth place..that is, after she has traveled the world on her musical virtuosity! Props
Wow! Part two, totally blows my mind!
I just keep falling in love again and again whenever I hear you play. You simply are the best!
Same . . .

Beautiful contrasts.. Specially Dust in the Wind.. Very sweet and soothing.. Actually mind of the artist expressed through the music presented.
Full of energy she knows well what she is doing, after all, I like the way she dances with the melody.
Você é demais!
Tico tico no fubá (Zequinha de Abreu), orgulho do meu país.

Brazilian music. Very happy and musical. Tico tico no fubá (small bird over corn powder). Guitar groups called "chorinho" are fantastic performing this music style with some guitar (cavaquinho) very similar this one Taimane play.

Nice playing.
The first theme ( Tico-tico no fubá) and to authored by Zequinha de Abreu brazilian composer. Isn´t Paco de Lucia.
Great!! 🌺
Three months ago I was on my way to work and crossed paths with you- you were heading up Nuuanu at Hotel- and I saw you and would have said something but it just caught in my throat- it seemed so tacky to do so. So I went to work, down around King and Smith. and it made me smile to think you get to travel wherever you want unfettered by fumbling guys like us. Because we respect the beautiful thing you do. You paint a beautiful picture. Your brush is the ukulele
How incredibly fun!

Jazzy Jazz ( Jasmine Skurtu )
Тиамин-очень сексуальная....

Pom
Do
is that ukelele or guitarlele?
7 years late.. lol. But in case others are wondering too, this is an ukulele. Not a guitarlele.
ясна, палина
you only need to change hair style, by doing this, you will be dancing angel :)
Nice that she's doing everything but Hawaiian music so folks can see the ukulele is not just a one-trick-pony instrument - a little flamenco to start, some Kansas/Dust In The Wind, Led Zepplin, Girl From Ipamena, and who knows what else. Whoever set up the sound recording didn't do a very good job as it drops out of the left stereo channel, then the rightr, then goes 'tinny' (the lower bass sounds), sometimes really flat, sometimes distorted.
That sure doesn't look or sound like the "Uke" my parents gave me when I was 5 years old. It never sounded like that when I tried tp play it.
its an eletronic one and Taimane usually have 5 strings on it. (1 more close to the G string). Im not a pro in ukulele but i do believe thats why it sounds different.
Taimane does not play Hawaiian music. Never has.
What Ohta-San and Jake Shimabukuro do with the Ukulele is amazing, But, like this and portrayed like this,? I don't think it's giving the instrument enough respect.. And the sound engineer is a complete passenger. This isn't Hawaiian Style Ukulele it's a Ukulele playing Spanish Style..
Some of it sounds a lot like Stairway to Heaven to me, 8mins 22secs
& some Fur Elise after that
That "Engineer" should be/could be driving a locomotive.
despite the name of the video, she doesn't claim to play traditional hawaiian style or music. I enjoy the way she plays, but i'd like to see/hear play some hawaiian music some day as well
Everyone's a critic. Who cares what style she is playing, she is immensely talented. Goosebumps every time I hear her play, no matter what she plays.
Sole Uce And Tico-tico is a brazilian music composed by Zequinha de Abreu.
Musicians are awesome, but the camera guy and the sound engineer are terrible.
Agreed about the sound engineer. As the 'camera guy', I should mention I was hired as a stills photographer, and spent 90% of my time doing that. I just happened to set up another small camera to capture the performance as an afterthought. Therefore, the camera was unattended most of the time.
Paul Gillingwater Okay, that makes since, thanks for explaining.
Sound recorded on this video was at the mercy of the camera's Microphone!
So Paul, how did it sound live? Sound was for the audience not for the camera.
No Hawaiian music thus far. Maybe later.

Скинулись бы второму на барабан-то; - чего он с табуреткой-то там мучается; или не дорос ещё?
