@@NickHoad True but getting hit by a rock can still count as part of a Ground Attack. I mean what else were they supposed to do, throw dirt In Pikachu’s eyes? lol
As a massive Pokémon fan, I loved this movie. There was a bit more focus on the first Gen guys than I would like, but the fact that they showed a few from every generation at all is really nice. I really appreciate that this movie feels like it’s own world and not the usual “we were sent to the Pokémon world” or “Pokémon were sent to our world” story like Sonic or even Mario did. Not that the formula is bad, but Pokémon specifically has such a big world that letting everything flow naturally felt great. I appreciate that they didn’t really stop to explain each Pokémon on screen and just expect the audience to either already know or just look at the funky animals and be impressed. The biggest thing that makes me love this film though is the Pokémon them selves. They didn’t really do that thing where they redesigned the to “be realistic.” They simply applies new textures and some new physics on each one so they remain recognizable. Charizard still has his belly, Torterra has his weird bear trap teeth, stuff like that. There are some added details that also make the Pokémon more accurate, like how Psyduck’s irises are actually white in this movie to replicate the tiny dot pupils it has in the games and anime. It all felt and looked really neat. There’s apparently a Netflix series in the works involving this world but we have basically no info on it, I hope it’s good.
I agree, the fact they were able to stay true to the source material while using some realistic texture to it is amazing. Like the Pokémon that are mammals, they have fur or bubbler like the Pancham, Mewtwo and Flareon. The ones like Charizard, Torterra, Magikarp and Gyarados, they both have scales like actual reptiles and fish. Last but not least, Psyduck and the Pidgeot have feathers as any bird should. As an animal lover, they have my approval.
The whole film was about how he had no connection with his dad so it's not surprising he wouldn't recognise his voice. He hadn't heard it since be was a kid. I'm with you, I would absolutely LOVE a sequel!
I think he doesn’t questions Pikachu sounding like his dad because he probably thinks it’s part of the reason he can hear him, or the fact that Pikachu was his dad’s partner Pokemon. He’s already freaked out he can’t communicate with Pikachu so I don’t think he’s going to question anything else.
I always say it as he can understand him but with the same tone/voice as original Pikachu sound, just like how when Lucy and Psyduck merge it still Psyduck talking even tho we're looking it at Pikachu pov (he also understand both pokemon and human) Ryan's voice is just so we can understand while also making a connection that it is his dad after all lol but again, that just how I take it, it could be just a silly lil thing they do, who know ahahaha
This is actually a really awesome and fun movie. I can tell a lot of Pokémon fans loved how fanservice-y this was. I especially loved Detective Pikachu’s likable personality and accurate he looks to the game this is based on. I definitely recommend this to anyone who’s a major Pokémon fan or people who just heard of the franchise.

Seb. The reason Pikachu passed out from the rock is because ground type moves are super effective against electric. So even though it's a small rock it's still his weakness and messed him up.
i think rock type is different from ground type. but if physics is involved, i do believe that size of rock will hurt A LOT if it came from that height so it's more believable that pikachu, a rodent, hit in the stomach will actually get severely hurt.
@BCOG1691 with the size of that rock and the speed it came down should have looked like it would have just bounced off of his stomach. It's not my theory it's just something I read online that made sense to me.
I still think having the movie be based on Detective Pikachu was one of the best decisions they made. It had every opportunity to do fanservice and world-building with a simple compelling buddy cop story for the general audience and STILL have it star the franchise mascot. Definitely a better introduction (assuming they make more) than if they did a movie about Red, Blue and Leaf. also yeah great vid btw as always :3

Detective Pikachu 2 has been confirmed for years now. It's actually been since 2019. However, unfortunately there have been no updates since and even the cast don't know the current progress so it's likely still years away if it ever comes at this rate.
It's a bit hard imagining how they might do a live action Pokémon film, or even which storyline they might follow, even though I'm sure there's a demand for that. However, I think Detective Pikachu did a great job of showing us the possibilities, while still being original and its own thing. This film did a great job of fleshing out the characters and bringing them to life, without rehashing an old storyline. They may tackle the Ketchum Kronicles some day, but I think this film was a great alternative, in the meantime. It was a great visual treat, to see the Pokémon come to life, but it was also a decent mystery, to follow along with. It really wasn't bad for a live action game movie.
Honestly, my favorite Pokemon game isn't one of the main series games, it's one of the spinoff games: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky (Sky is basically the cooler version of the other two with more available mons, levels, etc, but they all have the same plot). The plot goes HARD in that one, and I love it.
Arcanine would be awesome companion Pokemon. My all time favorite is still Gengar though, ever since the first episode of the Pokemon show when Gengar fights Nidorino.
I named a Snubbull/Granbull after Yoshida. 😀 #PokéGo 😄 I had a Psyduck plush, along with Mew. 😃 That "detective movie" was made exclusively for Home Alone. 🙃 8:20 - Audino lookin' concerned. 🫣 This movie has a lot of cut content, a freaking R-rated version could be made! 🤪 The whole Mr. Mime sequence is hilarious. 🤣 25:50 - Love how your cat joined you...briefly. 😸

No its been updated recently at the beginning of the year. Idk what about tho i forgot but i remember it being good
It's a bit hard imagining how they might do a live action Pokémon film, or even which storyline they might follow, even though I'm sure there's a demand for that.
Pokemon Stadium 2 minigames were the best and I always ate the most sushi with Lickitung
I love this movie so much!! ♡♡♡
Absolutely. Psyduck has no right being that cute. This movie made me want to use one in a regular playthrough.
Arcanine would be awesome companion Pokemon. My all time favorite is still Gengar though, ever since the first episode of the Pokemon show when Gengar fights Nidorino.
the freakin Omar Chaparro on the movie xd
He is the latin dub voice from Po (Kung Fu Panda) on Latinamerica xd
18:32 dude, Darkrai is my favorite
Dynamax was teased early in this movie via the torterra. (Also I want a sequel to the movie with Mareanie)

That "detective movie" was made exclusively for Home Alone. 🙃

This movie has a lot of cut content, a freaking R-rated version could be made! 🤪
The whole Mr. Mime sequence is hilarious. 🤣
