These Sonic movies had no right to be this much fun and so entertaining, especially when the initial trailer and design was so bad, but I'm not complaining because these films are awesome and Im excited for the 3rd movie. Jim Carrey as Dr Robotnik is perfect casting.

This movie is the poster child for why studios need to actually listen to the fans rather than sticking their head in the sand and trying to bully the audience to accept anything thats put in front of them. If they had stuck with the original design it would have been a complete disaster, but this was the only time i can ever think of a studio going "you know what fair point, lets fix it" and it paid off so well Yeah there's a sequel to this already out which is actually even better you should definitely watch, plus there's a 3rd movie and a knuckles tv show coming out this year too

But they dropped the franchise and Paramount eventually picked it up and are running with it. And given what we just learned yesterday, there are definitely more movies on the way after Sonic 3.

A fun cameo in this movie, which only few will notice (those that are Transformers fans): one of the generals in that meeting at Pentagon is played by the legendary Garry Chalk! The Transformers fans will surely recognize him as the voice of Optimus Primal in the Beast Wars: Transformers and Beast Machines cartoons. As well as the voice of Optimus Prime in Transformers Armada, Energon, and Cybertron.

(Plenty of references, though). 1:45 - Rings in the movies are mostly inspired by the Special Zone rings from Sonic 3 rather than the simple collectable Rings from other games. 5:17 - That's actually low mid-range for San Francisco. 8:06 - Jim Carrey is known for throwing himself into a part. When he was developing his persona for Robotnik, he decided that his deal was that he was always ostracized for his supreme intelligence and so he learned at a young age that humans were untrustworthy and that only robots could be relied on. 8:44 - And THIS is why he's called 'Eggman' in this version. 22:42 - Gotta love that one of the switches in his fuse box is labeled 'badniks.' (It's what Robotnik's robot henchmen are called). 23:31 - HE SAID THE THING!!!
23:10 - So fun fact, apparently Paramount spent quite alot of time negotiating with Sega in order for them to give permission to show Sonic's feet without shoes on-screen. So this scene where we see him without shoes is actually a big deal. This shows the lengths that Paramount will go in order to get something for these movies.
23:50 - I know. I was afraid they'd have a character like Chris Thorndyke in the movies, but nope. They were smart and refrained from doing that. Very wise decision.
Jim Carrey has managed for Dr Robotnik what RDJ did for Tony Stark. He's really made the role completely and permanently his own. And for what it's worth, personality-wise, we at least know Eggman's a great dad.

I absolutely loved this when it came out! The second one is even better and the third looks promising. I’m a huge Sonic fan so I’m biased but honestly I think they did a great job when it could have been such a train wreck.

Considering sonic the hedgehog was created in 1991 then that would make him 33 years old as of this year.
Fun fact the unreleased Juice wrld song Keep up was meant to be in this movie but the lable didn’t want to release the song and put it on the movie.

I absolutely loved this when it came out! The second one is even better and the third looks promising. I’m a huge Sonic fan so I’m biased but honestly I think they did a great job when it could have been such a train wreck.

It's crazy how bad this movie first looked I am so glad they made the changes because the effects are really good now. The performances are wonderful, Sonic was nailed. Both movies are a lot of fun, more than they had any right to be. Super excited for the 3rd film on its way.
