In my opinion, your review is spot on. They don't outdo many of the speakers in their price range, but the listening experience just pulls you in. I auditioned a couple other brands before the 806s. But I was about two minutes into the session, and they just pulled me in now they're in my listening room.
Hi man thanks for watching, there should soon be Aria 906 review so look foreword for that. Yeah Focals are a bit tame speakers, they lack a little bit that verve and presence. But they are smooth, beautiful and open and have their "Focal Magic". Really glad you enjoy them.
Hello! How are you? What equipment do you recommend I start audiophile with these Focal Chora, in a 4x4 room? Denon pma600ne, Yamaha S-301, Marantz pm6007 or Rotel a11 tribute? For music CD, streamer and movies? Greetings from Argentina!
Hi Jorge! I have expiriance with all this amps, and it all depends what sound do you expect the most. Denon will ground it's airines and make sound to have more impact and weight. Rotel will make it more open and dynamic rich. While marantz will make sound more punchy and smooth . Yamaha is only one which i would not recommend out of this amps. If i was choosing it would be marantz or denon. But of you want to use it for movies and for music than go with denon.
I'm thinking of Focal Chora 5.1.2 setup with Onkyo TX-RZ50, how would it fair? Is it great? or should I go with Kanta YU 5.25 passives setup with front & atmos being focal? Your review was on spot, Thanks. Love & Regards from India.
@@CASagarNathani while kanto is decent and cheaper, they are no match to focal chora. Like i guess we can speak about detail retrieval and transperancy, and find some parallels. But focal opens the sound far more, and gives much better imaging and insight . It is more done in audiophile way, than kanto. I just much much more prefer them to kantos. Hope this helped
Ok I need help, I got the speakers pair for $300, but here i get amps recommended that cost triple that. I would like to pay $300 for my amp, what is a good match that is not completely out of the league?
That is really nice price for them. You can try Wiim Amp, I think it will work great, as it has 60W in 8ohms. www.amazon.com/WiiM-Amp-Multiroom-Streaming-Chromecast/dp/B0CGCLXH4H?th=1 It is exactly 300 dollars.
Hi I never used c356bee, but form what I know it have lively treble rich sound, that should work with Focal Chora 806. Ever amp that is or treble rich, or bass rich should go really good with Chora, only those balanced amps are not a good synergy.
I am thinking of replacing my wharfedale diamond 12.2 speakers with these speakers. My system includes quad vena integrated amp, smsl da9 amp, smsl a300 amp, smsl su1 dac, smsl d300 dac and polk hts subwoofer. The speakers will be placed on a big desk 4.5ft apart and will be used as computer speakers. Would these be ideal for such use case scenario? Mostly for nearfield to midfield listening on a medium sized room. Your input would help me greatly. Thanks.
I never really used this as speakers on my table, but few things I can say regarding what you wrote. Unless you really dislike Wharfedale diamond 12.2 this will not be a monumental jump. They are different in characteristics. One big benefit I see with Focal Chora 806 being a speaker on a table, is it is one of the low volume champions, so it does open without you need to juice up the power. It has better imaging and soundstage than Wharfedale. Now Wharfedale are a bit warmer, therefore a more fuller bass, and gave a more energetic presentation, so they feel more lively as speakers. So it is important to know what you want before changing them, and maybe demo them in store. I personally like Focal Chora a bit more, but it is true that Wharfdale can sound more fun then them and that is for someone a big plus, while someone like Focals more clean presentation which throws deep immersive soundstage.
@@HIFIDaydreaming thanks for the info, the diamond 12.2 are good on a desk and great on speakers stand, i replaced the polk r200 with the diamond 12.2 but turns out the polk r200 were better on a desk, my problem with the diamond 12.2 is exactly as you have said, it needs a bit of volume to really get it going and could sometimes sounds confused without proper placement. I could hear the details and all but I guess I want more revealing speakers. However, having said that I don't like bright or lean sounding speakers at all. The chora 806 are significantly more expensive than the diamond 12.2 from where I am at, so if it not really worth the jump, my other option would be the much more expensive kef r3 meta which I believe will be a big jump over the above mentioned speakers. Thanks again.
@@fatboyvin oh yeah i forgot that you maybe don't live in Europe. Here difference between 12.2 (410e) and chora 806(675e) is 265 euros. @@HIFIDaydreaming where i live, the r3 meta retails for 2450 euro, chora 806 ranges from 800 - 1200 euro and the 12.2 at 550 euro only. This is in direct conversion from my currency to euro. Also, regarding amplifiers, in your opinion is it worth investing in class AB amps like the audiolab 6000A from SMSL DA9/A300/AO300 or topping PA 5 etc? I also have class AB quad vena which looks to be very similar with audiolab 6000A in terms of the internals, and I prefer those chinese amps over the quad vena. I demoed this yesterday, when I heard this review. They are truly amazing, I am seriously tempted to buy them.
Go for it, and tell here once you return as a satisfied buyer. 😁
I had demoed these in the local hifi shop and I agree with everything you say. Good honest review.
