    hello, thank you for this interesting review!
    did you tried how it's sounding as purely preamp?
    was thinking to use it as streaming device for hires music and tv connection to feed a marantz pm14.
    doest it make sense to use an external dac like smsl su1 for better sound?
    the other option is maybe an eversolo 6, around same price?

    • @HIFIDaydreaming
      @HIFIDaydreaming  7 дней назад

      Wow Marantz PM14 the legend! I never tested it only as a pre-amp so I dont know what to tell you here, but is it not that PM14 should already have decent pre-amp, so I dont know how much benefit you will get from Stereo 70s using it as pre amp. But If you only care about streaming, and as a DAC you should better to go with Eversolo, or maybe new Bluesound, or Arcam ST25 etc. dac/streamers. You will get better streaming, and better DAC. Buying SMSL SU1 becomes redundant at that point. Unless you want to buy just dac and nothing else, than depending what DAC you already have you might see some improvements. But for such a great amp, investing in a DAC would be great and you could see definitely some substantial improvements in sound.
      Thank you so much for watching my review it is appreciated man! :)

      thanks for the infos,
      the goal was to use the heos app on 70s to keep things simple:
      -it can play my library from hard disk in 16/48
      -it can play from apple music in hires
      -interface visible on tv with hdmi earc
      thus the idea of using it just as streamer.
      there is no info about the integrated dac of the 70s and i dont want go to 40n route to have better quality, it will be redundant to my pm14.
      i will probably order one and try, before going to eversolo option )

      @@mle_yum2918 Like you I'm keen to utilise the 70s for Heos and displaying track info on TV through HDMI. I am considering using it as the preamp for a Marantz Model 50 driving Q Acoustics Concept 500s and I'm wondering if you've had the chance to try it with your PM14 yet?

    anyone else have sound issues where the sound cuts out for a split second when using HDMI arc? like content from the smart tv itself of anytime the screen is on (netflix, prime, PS5 connected directly to TV)

    My only concern about the Stereo 70 (compared to say the Cinema 70) is the lack of room correction (either automatic or manual). I’m only interested in using it for 2-channel music listening. What do you think?

    • @HIFIDaydreaming
      @HIFIDaydreaming  Месяц назад

      While room correction is good, it does not do miracles. (And it can be added lagter) Your own system configuration, room size, and properties will be the key factor in quality of sound. So if 2 channel music listening is your primary goal, then stereo 70 is a much better choice. It will give you more musical experience.

    • @michaelmcglynn968
      @michaelmcglynn968 Месяц назад

      @HiFiDreaming how could I add it later? Also I’ve noticed other reviewers say that while the subwoofer out has a configurable low pass filter, the speakers don’t have a high pass filter and are always run full range?

    • @HIFIDaydreaming
      @HIFIDaydreaming  Месяц назад

      @@michaelmcglynn968 Hmm interesting, I am not so familiar with that. If you are really interested in sound calibration, you can use Dirac live + tools to apply to any of your gear to help with room correction.

    Great review! It certainly looks like a really good value compared to the 40N which is much more expensive, with less features, but still has the pre amp outs so you can upgrade you amp in the future, if you ever need it. What are your thoughts vs. the NR1200 previous model? Thank you!

      @@filipepaninho6558 an upgrade to the PM7000N. The 60N and PM7000N are way better in terms of sound and build quality. They both use big toroidal transformers, think aluminum heat sinks and dual 15k power capacitors. The 60N adds pre amp outputs, HDMI audio, and the new look refresh. And finally is available in silver in the US. Seems to be the same amplifier topology as the PM7000N.

    I bought the Marantz Stereo 70s re-certified from the Marantz website, on sale for US$599, a few weeks ago and I love it. It’s connected to a pair of Wharfdale Diamond 225 and for my small study its a great fit.

      @@HIFIDaydreamingThanks for the reply. Note that the $599 was for a re-certified unit that Marantz normally sells for $799. I happen to visit the site as at the time they were offering another 25% discount on the $799!
      I was also lucky aa the unit arrived in MINT cosmetic condition, like brand new out of the box. The only disadvantage is, it only has a 1 year warranty.

    • @HIFIDaydreaming
      @HIFIDaydreaming  3 месяца назад +2

      I do agree with you, but I think you are mixing things that should not be mixed. At lunch pm8006 was much more expensive than stereo 70s. PM 8006 was meant to be a audiophile amp with integrated streaming inside, while stereo 70s is meant to be a bridge between audiophile and cinephile lovers for cheap, so sonic sacrifices needs to be made. Real comparisons should be made between 8006, and model 60n or 40n. That is a far better battle and more interesting one. But hope you enjoyed the review, thanks for watching.

      @HIFIDaydreaming Sir,I was planning to buy a stereo amp, so I watched lots of reviews ,then visited a store to buy marantz stereo 70s. They also had 8006, so I listened 8006. What a mind-blowing sound it produces after listening to this. i couldn't buy stereo 70 and come back to increase my budget.
      How does marantz 6007 sound ?Is it near 8006?
