Man, after 5 minutes that face looked better than anything I've done 😔 excellent stuff. Loving the series. Perfect for all those large Hate minis I have amassed. Thanks. And by the way, close ups on the face we superb. Often we can't see what's going on but this was awesome.
I'm learning SO much with this series!! It took me out of the base-wash-highlight method. I've played whit different paint consistency for the first time and it is great!

boom! --- I ordered another one, I should remember how to paint by the time it arrives ;) I do have a photo of the carnage btw... I'll post it on insta once I have other photos of the next model to go along with it. That way it doesn't just look like a pile of pink broken plastic with your hashtag attached.
Great series Chris! Currently watching it for the second time. Since Citadel (and Vallejo Game Color for that matter) have a more satin finish and you like matt paints, do you tent to matt varnish over them (or mix matt varnish into them) to unify the mini? Assuming you are not painting something that you want to have a satin finish on.
You can do both!
@@trovarion I recently started mixing in matt varnish directly into my paints. I feel it saves time and it seems to prevent to overly matt finish look you get when you use too much (ultra) matt varnish by accident. It also opens up the use my inks more because you remove the glossyness right away so you actually see what you are doing. Those inks usually need thinning anyways, so by thinning with matt varnish accomplish too things at the same time.

Awesome! I'd like to have a steady hand like yours. But clearly it's not all about that: your skill comes from experience and continuous training.
I see you use Raphael 8404 Size 1. This should be a brush with long tip. Why? is this good for both blending and long lines drawing with a decent tank for color?
I use Rosemary & Co. series 33 because I prefer shorter tips. But I see that it's better for blending than drawing long lines.

Hi, vllt magst mir nochmal kurz was aufklären. Was ist der Unterschied zwischen z.B: Medium glaze(vallejo) = wie Lahmian medium (citadel), Unterschied von Flow impruver zu thinner medium oder Retarder medium. Was es auch noch gibt Allround Medium (ist in Glaze medium drinn) und glänzendes GelmediuAcrylmalmittel (marke Reeves) das hab ich gesehen wurde benutzt um z.B Nurgle rot herzustellen oder blood for the blood god... komme völlig durcheinander... (so viele Video geschaut) :) help!
Vieles ist schon im namen. Flow improver bricht die oberflächenspannung und hilft die farbe fliessender zu machen. Retarder ist trocknungsverzögerer. Lahmian medium ist zum glazes/washes machen und glaze medium macht das selbe. Benutz ich alles nicht, nur wasser. Alles andere ist mir zu kompliziert und umständlich.
@@trovarion erstmal vielen Dank. Ja nicht jeder ist so talentiert wie Du und ist so lange in dem Hobby ;) ok improver wäre dem "Spüli" ähnlich. Und Retarder ist sowas wie "Thinner", sind einfach viele marken und Namen im Spiel... und in vielen Videos werfen das auch die großeb durcheinander wie z.B Vince... da arbeite ich mich aktuell durch einige Videos :)

@@trovarion hi trovarion. darf man fragen welche farben du benutzt? oder kannst du mich auf ein entsprechendes video umleiten, wo du es erklärst? ich hab gesehen, dass du die farben in solchen fläschen hast aber die wirken so extrem flüssig im vergleich zu den gw farben. :)
@@vadims.5016 die farben in dem video sind am anfang kurz auf dem screen. oder meinst du generell?
It has wonky eyes that look outward
No, it has not :) The white dot in the left eye covers part of the pupil, which makes it appear like the white of the eye is larger in that area when I blow it up 400%. But everything is where it is supposed to be.
