Supplies:
Glass Container (I got mine on sale at Michael’s, you can also try the dollar store)
Safflower or Sweet Almond Oil (available at any grocery store)
Essential and or Fragrance Oils (these are all great starter kits and can be used with do many different projects)

For anyone trying to make it at home, mix 50% essential oils with 50% carrier oil (preferably DPG) then add isopropyl or rubbing alcohol depending how strong you want it. You can use anything b/w 20-40% of prepared oil with 60-80% of alcohol. Don't waste your time making it with this video's recipe, it is not thin enough to travel through the reeds, Thank-you!
So the strength is from the Alcohol ??
@elizabethhalasz361 that's because you have to leave it for atleast 10-15 days to cure, and also vodka have less alcohol concentration I guess for a reed diffuser, use isopropyl alcohol instead it's easily available on any medical store.
@@krstlblu22 yes and no, depends on which fragrance oil you are using. Generally floral smells are very weak and subtle in air, yea the alcohol makes fragrances volatile but try combining two or more fragrances, they work magic.

Do you mean we prepare a mixt of oil( 50%dpg+ 50%fragrance) then we add of this oil (20% to 40%)to alcohol (60 % to 80%)?

This was so great, exactly what I needed to see. I have been using the tiny crockpot that came with my full-size pot to make a water, vanilla and cinnamon stick mixture. It might be natural but yours is much cuter! Keep em coming please! :)

Brooke, you can pop the plastic thing in the essential oils out for an easy pour, then you just pop the plastic thing back into the bottle and it's back to normal! I do it all the time :)

you should watch the channel "DoItOnADime." She's has the BEST organizing tips and tells you where the best deals are etc. She's amazing, just like Brooke, Elle, and Meg...except she does mostly all organization videos. The things she comes up with will have you saying "wow,, why didn't I think of that?! That's such a neat idea!!"

Always love your diy's. I use essential oils and post videos about them every week. If you use a high quality essential oil you won't have to use so much in the recipe. We do 4-8 drops of oil max

This does not work until you add some alchohol, tried and tested more than once.
What type of alcohol would you need?
@@ladybanks9766 you can use simple vodka just like when you diy perfume :) If you're not a booze person I believe you can use witch hazel too

Pineapple Top I would assume it's because alcohols have a high vapor pressure and this could possibly help aerosolize the aromatic compounds.

This does not work, what a waste of time. Of course you need alcohol and not oil. Please don't try this, you will be wasting ingredients. Replace the carrier oil with any type of alcohol and then it will work (somewhat, the store-bought ones smell longer and stronger)

It would probably grow mold if it was alcohol and not an oil because the essential oil will be sitting on top of it and it will grow mold eventually.
Emulsifier might help.
