    Thank you for the hint with the sticks! I've been looking through some videos on the same topic. I haven't figured out yet why I need to add alcohol if I'm mixing oil wit oil. I'm also wondering what will be left over once the liquid parts of the oil are evaporated? Why would I not use water, essential oil and a bit of alcohol for "binding" instead of an oil based one? Thanks!

    Can oil plug the pores of the sticks? I though the base must have some liquids with essential oils but without extra carrier oils.

    I love this idea Stephanie. Do you know if dried lavender stems with the flowers still on would work? Or even for example the dried allium stems behind you? I would like the idea of some dried flowers left on the stems.

    • @GardenTherapyVideo
      @GardenTherapyVideo  3 года назад +1

      Hi Debra, What great ideas! Try them and see how they transfer the oils and scent. I found that the light and porous stems of daylily, echinacea, and poppies worked. Particularly the giant oriental poppies - they have great stems. Lavender may be a bit woody and thin, but I think the allium could be a good one to try. It can't hurt to add some lavender stems though, they will have their own fragrance.

    • @GardenTherapyVideo

      I check it to see how it smells. If it is still pretty fresh, then I would add more essential oils. If it has gone bad, then dispose of it, yes.

    • @ImmutableWhimsy
      @ImmutableWhimsy 10 месяцев назад

      If you’re only planning on using it for a few days before refilling it and using new sticks, yes that should be fine. But long term you run the risk of the flower molding so I wouldn’t advise it.

      it's hard to know without seeing the ingredients and reeds you used, but you can certainly try it with store bought reeds and if the fragrance is stronger then you know you need more EOs. I have some blends that need to be stronger. And orange oil is a top note which does dissipate quickly. You are better off to blend it with other oils (base and middle notes) for a longer lasting scent. Try Lemongrass or eucalyptus next time, they will fill up the room!
