nice Fix glad to know Im not the only one that runs into those stupid obstacles with little things going wrong that makes things way harder than they need to be. Great Vid as always Brad. God Bless
Thanks! I got a little lazy and didnt stop the camera every time one of thoise little BS time consuming things happened. We all know they do, but i usually just stop the camera.
Seems that shaft design have a greaseless bearing OR a grease fitting, once seized your done til fixed...! In May weather with fast grass growth it's a bad deal...!
That was good work, but watching you let me know that I need more tools, and you have given me ideas to try on my riding lawn mower that has been sitting for a few years, but that wood dowel, that was some Macgyveresque stuff.Thank you for posting.
man that's awesome tip with the wood dowel. oh yeah oh yeah the joys of working on stuff but when you get it done the satisfaction of doing it yourself and all the money is saved.... ya win win situation.
May sound silly...but I've done this several times..shoot carb cleaner in it first, then your penetrating oil/ P.B....let that soak a while and do it again....put a wrench on it and work it till it moves....soak it again and drive it out
Too bad I live a million miles away and broker than a piece of shattered glass, LOL I'd sure buy it! I know if you work on it, it'll be like getting something new for a fraction of the price!
Was it throwing the belt? I have the same tractor and it's tossing the belt. I shortened the spring to put more tension and it's still throwing the belt. Seems to move ok but I'll take it off and clean it up i guess.
@@bctruck I think the deck is lower than the PTO. There isn't a straight line in the belt to the tensioner. Gonna see if raising the front of the deck helps.
I know they make this stuff pretty cheap these days, I had a piece of equipment that had a similar setup and it was hell to pull apart and grease, so I ended up drilling and tapping the top of the bolt/stud so I could get grease into it, all the OEM would have to have done is make the housing a little thicker or did what I did, They just want you to throw it away and buy a new one .
Just curious...I know this is an old video, but you seemed to be having a hard time there at the end getting that bolted on. What was the problem, and what did it take to fix it? Left me thinking there was a problem getting the nut to thread back on to the shaft.
Huh?!!? *inhales quickly* No, no, no! I think you are one of the nicest and handsome-est people on Earth! *hesitates for a second* Of course, you might have to temper that with the fact that we Golden Retrievers love everyone and everything!!! *slurpykiss, slurpykiss, slurpykiss...*
The pin housing wall thickness would let the grease zerk bottom out against the the shaft it rides on,or thats what i would have done. I'll just makde sure to keep it oiled from now on and avoid that with the pressure washer when im cleaning the deck. I never mow when its wet and i never leave the mower outside so it wont get wet any other way either.
BCtruck, rebuild, repair, repurpose Oh OK, I should have figured that you had already considered that. I typed it as It came to mind...Really like your videos and your dogs are awesome and seem to be a part of your family like ours are to us....God Bless from central WA state... Dave
brad, you seem to be very knowledgeable in small engine repair. have you ever considered opening a small shop in your garage? cuz i have a chainsaw like yours that will not stay running and would send it to you for repair, and know that you would fix it right.
BCtruck, rebuild, repair, repurpose now that you have your Hobart welder, you can drill a small hole and weld a tiny but that is long enough to accept the zerk fitting.

more tools is a good thing!!!

I feel like im cheating them out of money when i fix things myself. Its a good feeling.
Good fix, I would also repainted and re-thread the bolt.
Great problem resolution video, Great Job and thanks for sharing with us....
Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the great tip!
I'd say all that work paid off! Belt tensioner pulleys are a pain in the butt rather it's a mower or car.
Im working on the 100 buck mower now. Ive already got it running and ive decided that im gonna fix it up and sell it on craigslist.
Too bad I live a million miles away and broker than a piece of shattered glass, LOL I'd sure buy it! I know if you work on it, it'll be like getting something new for a fraction of the price!
It's enjoyable to work when the outcome goes your way.

Is it bent?
Doesn't seem so, no.

Time for heat or real cold, depending on where you place it.
I have to be honest, I was hoping to see at the ending the vid a grease zerk installed, but it lasted that long.
If the sleeve wasnt so thin,I would have put a grease zerk in,but as it is,it would bottom out against the bolt that goes through the sleeve.

Whoo hoo! Another thing fixed by the handiest guy on the planet! *wag, wag, wag...*
If dogs dont find you handsome, they should at least find you handy!

Seams everybody is working on the decks how can I find someone who can show me the belt diagram that goes over the rearward it's a short belt.
Good job
Thanks!
Nice job
Thanks!
install a grease zert on the side of the pin housing....

Dave D My dogs are what i call my fur kids. they keep coming in here (my man cave) and poking me because they want me to come to bed.
Zerk
They can be a pain. i nice job.
nice mower
Thanks! It's earned it's keep around here.

Ive considered it,along with welding and other repairs.
Been easier just to buy a whole new arm for about 35 bucks.
So spending 35 bucks is better than fixing something?? Boy, are you on the wrong channel.
Yeah like when you cut the video to fix something?? How to repair a mower deck??.. Put on gloves talk a lot and you guess the rest... Ill go with Alan
lol, oops, I guess I should watch all the video before answering. lol.
I would have put a grease fitting on it.
The grease fitting would hit the bolt when you threaded it in. If the sleeve around the bolt was thicker, that's exactly what I would have done.
BCtruck, rebuild, repair, repurpose now that you have your Hobart welder, you can drill a small hole and weld a tiny but that is long enough to accept the zerk fitting.
Ever heard of never seize? Really. Or install a grease fitting.
You're not working safe shorts and flip-flops that's a No-No
Ha! I weld in shorts and flip flops. Stop being a safety natzi Karen!
