@@WoodyPianoShack if I could play like you, I would definitely get one. Will probably get an Sx600 or 700 in order to learn and enter the Yamaha ecosystem.
13:40 Possibly you may not need to prerecord the backing track. Have you tried the AI Fingered or AI Full keyboard fingering mode on your Genos? This mode supposedly should be able to derive the chords for the accompaniment only from your playing. I have this mode on my Casio CT-S500 as well and I was wondering how well it works on Genos. Especially for some more complex things like blues you're playing.
thanks for the tip, i really will investigate those modes for sure! but i am sure it will be confused when the roots are missing in the LH, interesting experiment and video perhaos.
At least Yamaha have put some a bit more convincing vocal scat samples in than those old ones introduced by Roland in the 90's 😂 but they still sound a bit cheasy. I remember how those sounds wowed us back then .. got annoying pretty fast tho 😝 But really ..pretty fun to see all the silly commands about the Drums in the G2... Some people really need their ears cleaned if they can't hear how good the new Ambient drums is.
yeah, vocal scats and orchestral hits were a big thing back in the late 80s and stil going somewhat strong... gotta embrace the cheese as i love to say! ambient drums didn't really come across in the video as i was using the loudspeakers, which were bleeding into my lav mic, so extra ambience on everything!
That was fun. The Genos has an excellent Sax. But the Yamaha Montage M 61 key might have an equivalent high-quality sax, and it also has rhythems (and a much lower price .. and, something you like, it has a metal case).
Sounds good woody, just don’t get why Yamaha doesn’t offer 88 weighted key version of this or psr?as it is now if you want that option you have to buy whole new keyboard and use via midi ,or they could offer modules of these keyboards, they are more interested in your money than anything.
i guess even this instrument is not high-volume sales and maybe not worth manufacturing and distributing different version when each version might be very low numbers?
@@WoodyPianoShack yeah I agree, they keep putting out versions of these keyboards and leave out options that could make them really great, but are more concerned with profits than putting out a great quality instrument.
@@robertmichalscheck3072 Very true. It's the Marketing group that has the final decission what goes in to each model and what does not. They expect if you are looking for either a Piano version of the Genos you buy a Clavinova. If you want Synth functions you buy a Montage or Modx and for Pro Piano people the P/YC or M8X. Yamaha are extremely focused on keeping their lineup clearly segmented to get you to buy more keys than you need. Logically there really isn't an argument to not put both an arranger, Synth and workstation in the same instrument beside they would make it cost a fortune .. which the Genos kinda does already 🙄
Think you need to check some jazz clubs out and update your Jazz suit Woody 😄And record someone moaning along in the background on a pad for the next session 😂
i don't think i ever seen anybody moaning along in the background at the jazz club, oh, you mean perhaps the piano player should be grunting and moaning in the style of keith jarret? :) i could def do that!
Ok.Ok Ok YES it does sound NIIIIICE. That SCAT ? Voice is fun ( got one like that on a couple of Roland units ). The sax, flute and piano also really authentic. Still very expensive keyboard for most of us. Nice to dream though. Great, fun vlog Woody. 👍😁

@cinepost thank you again, your generosity for the cause is truly outstanding! hope i'm not preventing you from buying your own G2... :)

Thank you again for the video. Where can I find backing tracks such as the jazz and blues performances that you did?
search for aebersold playalongs, they are available online for purchase, or even as a subscription streaming service these days. i love volume 54!
@@WoodyPianoShack thank you Woody for your reply.
Useful to know cheers
Great Woody! Yes arrangers can help make you a better player when you use them like a backing band.

that's all true, although I doubt if any workstation synth beats the G2 on acoustic/orchestral sounds, with all these super articulations etc.
Excellent video Woody. Thank you very much for taking the time to put it out here. Have a great weekend.😊🎹🎼🎶🎷
appreciate the kind comment, thanks! same to you

Be happy you get 76 semi weighted keys.... It took yamaha almost 2 decades to give us a Tyros with 76keys cause of the financial flop of the p9000 Pro
Gurrroovie man ! Take that hat off Woody before you freeze from too much cool!
haha, in my dreams!

@@mrdali67 exactly ! You know my mother's father was quite a piano-player who did that.. mmm They say I'm taking after my grunt-dad 😇👀🤣

wow, dude is actually listening to what the scat singers are saying, respect!
@@WoodyPianoShackYeah, haha! 😄
You make good stuff, I really enjoy your channel 👍😁☕️
The piano at 2:40 reminds me of the piano tone from Elton John’s Honky Chateau.
😂drums drowning there..mmm just saying.

How elegant 😎🤠
Nice! Great, ….Cool! Sorry I am reminded of a UK TV comedy show ‘The fast show’ and “Jazz Club”
oh, now i am totally seeing that picture too!
Dam that thing can play guitar more convincingly than I can on guitar!
Good stuff as usual, John Wayne said "don't apologise".. you don't need to. I would include a DAW with piano to fill the room...Hils
you're right, thanks for the advice!
I demand more jazz hat!
Bit monotonous Woody. Piano sounds a bit not very good.
well it was the same old 12 bar progression, you're right!
