Well I would say: discussion is over. It sounds like Hans Zimmer is sitting in his studio fiddling around for some ideas. When you open your eyes it's only Leigh. But he is real and he is a normal person. That gives us a realistic evaluation of this keyboard. And that's why Leigh's videos are so fantastic.

Agreed!! I’m a visual learner myself, and most of the time, manuals are written in Chinese, then inaccurately translated into English, just to confuse American owners, lol!!! Videos rule!!!

Hello Hello Leigh, what an amazing video this is! It is absolutely stunning what results you can achieve with this instrument. I was playing a bit with the style creator on my SX900. I did not know you could do all this. Superb. Thank you so much for showing me the right directions on my instrument. It is very helpful. Have a great day Leigh. Cheers, Glenn.

Nice explainer video Leigh. Good to see you can create your own parts and styles. This is a useful idea starter arranger keyboard but the sounds would have to be upgraded in many cases in a DAW to turn this into a professionally viable soundtrack. But it's a great, all-in-one idea/composition starter. Perhaps a lot more affordable, understandable, and portable, than a laptop loaded with professional sounds, and a controller rig.

Leigh, I have to write you this message.
In 2001 I acquired the PSR-9000, which I still own today and which works very well. I've been thinking about getting a new synth for a few years now. Over the past 23 years, I've seen various Tyros come and go. Then I discovered Yamaha's new Genos range.
I slightly hesitated to buy a Pa5X, then recently discovered that the Genos 2 had finally been released. I came across one of your presentation videos, and that's what motivated me to take the plunge for good.
If all goes well, my parcel will be delivered today and I'll be the proud owner of this sublime machine. Many thanks to you.

Congratulations and I’m sure you will have many years of enjoyment from Genos 2. It’s an awesome product. If I got £1 for everyone who has purchased having seen my videos I could retire!!
Seriously, you’ve made a great choice and I send my best wishes to you.

Indeed, you'd make a fine ambassador for Genos2. I can now tell you that between the time I sent my first message and this one, the delivery man rang my doorbell. The Genos2 has found its new home :D

Hello and thank you for the message.
I upgraded from a 2001 Yamaha PSR-9000 to a Genos2. As you can imagine, the gap has been enormous. I think it's fantastic, but am I really being objective? I often see the comparison between the Korg PA5x and the Genos2. I can't say for sure what the pros and cons are. And if anything, it doesn't bother me because I'm not looking for multiple synths.
This Genos2 is incredible. The menus are fluid and well thought-out. When I launch an accompaniment, there are several basic styles that sound like well-known songs. This makes you want to play them immediately. I'm currently working on my own version of a style for Terminator. I know Leigh has already done a video on it, but you're never better served than by yourself.
All I can say is that I'm enjoying playing on this machine. And it doesn't matter if a particular synth is better in a particular area, or if the Genos2 is just a small evolution of the Genos1. Not having had the previous model, I'm starting from a completely new base, and for me, this synth is fantastic.

Hi, Leigh. I love your videos and tutorials. Your improvisation is outstanding. I`ve been listening to your playing on background while I`m driving. It`s better than listening to the radio. Can you explain your chord progression thoughts? When I`m trying to improvise it`s nothing like you)😀How do you do that?

@@LeighWilbraham Thanks. I heard this before from other people who can improvise like you. So I suppose it`s just the matter of practice. I bet you`ve been playing keyboards your entire life. I`m 43, and I`ve started piano practice three years ago. I`ve got yamaha DGX 670 digital piano by the way. It has the accompaniment, styles, style creator, song creator, mic input and ect. I`ve learned a lot from your videos. There is some kind of similarity between Genos and DGX.

hi Leigh I've watched most of youre videos now.. really fantastic stuff I went to buy a korg pa5x admittedly.. at a yamaha dealership.. and the assistant talked me from.. buying korg.. however.. it was as much the cost as other things I had made my initial choice .. so i came away not making a purchase.. still pondering.. as I don't have an arranger... only slight gripe.. also, is you sometimes use .. bought sound packs.. other than that fantastic stuff... its a lot of money.. to then feel you need to buy more sounds.... !!

Soundpacks allow you to add the sounds you want and personalise the instrument. Same as adding new styles. It’s the benefit of the instrument.

I will let you know if I indeed make a purchase.. ive just cooled off for now.. ps I also don't have a pc or laptop.. which would make transferring sound packs on to the genos 2... difficult or... impossible... I forgot to mention that... my bad.. thanks keep making informative videos m8 as myself and other people will need them thanks👍

  • @GaryMCurran
    @GaryMCurran 8 месяцев назад

Okay, very interesting tutorial. I have some questions for you.
First, I agree with the 'copy' function of moving A to B, etc. So, here is the first question. In this particular case, you added another Rhy 1 section, but you did not modify Rhy 2. Once you get the 'A Part Rhy 2 copied over, is it possible to ADD to that Rhy 2 section for the 'B', 'C', and 'D' parts. For instance, copying over the A part to the B part, and now on beat 3 of the second and fourth bars, I want to add a gong or a orchestral cymbal sound. Can I ADD, not overwrite, the 'A' part that I've copied? The same question basically applies to the drum kits. I'm not able to play all the drum sounds I may want to use on four or five fingers at once, so if I'm creating a Rhy 1 part, and I want a Kick drum, three different toms, a snare and a crash and ride cymbals over the course of 16 bars, can I continue to repeat the 16 bar loop and then add the parts each time it loops? Can I go back and do that after I copy to each new variation?
Next question. If I want to change the instrument sound for one of the tracks, use the KinoStrings for variations 1 and 2, but switch to a different orchestral strings for variations 3 and 4, but on the same channel/track, can you do that? Or, maybe you want to switch to a synth string, if you're doing an Orchestral Rock sort of style?
Next, can you import Audio into a style? I could see adding your own voice (I don't sing, so I would never use MY voice, but I have friends who do, and might consider adding some 'live' voices, or maybe an instrument that's not included in the keyboard. Something not available. If you do, do you have to save that audio file as a part of the style, or do you save it elsewhere on the keyboard and link it?
Okay, I assume you're going to do all four parts, four break and fills, however many intro and endings, etc. Can you then save everything with OTS voices? Can I save patches for each of the four (three upper and one lower) sounds and then have them saved as OTS, so I have the possibility of 16 different available voices in a User-Style?
Finally, can I use an external sequencer to record in parts I want to use? So, when I get to the record portion, say I've created everything in Cubase or whatever, and I want to record the parts I've created in the DAW. Can I press the record and then with the tempo sync'd and at the start of the file, record from a sequencer/DAW?
    Nice demo, Leigh.

I really liked the atmospheric style, very lifting. Is it possible or jsut as easy to record a full length song and edit sections of the song instead of 10 second style parts ? I use a SX900 and editing midi or full length recordings of 5 mins in length is very complex. Would love to see a video showing this.
