The most visited place in Malta on a Sunday

- This is the most visited place in Malta on a Sunday, and yes this is Marsaxlokk. Marsaxlokk is the fishing village in Malta that people visit on Sunday because of the market. Here you can find everything, from local food, sweets, souvenirs. We did a boat ride in Marsaxlokk, taking us around Kalanka bay, Hofra bay and St. Peters pool. the village was super crowded, no wonder it is one of the most traditional cities in Malta and most visited place on a Sunday. Tourists from all over the world are visiting Malta for the great food, sea, sunshine and beautiful sceneries and Marsaxlokk has all of that, a highly recommended place to visit if you want to feel the tradition of Malta

I burst out laughing when you said so mich testosterone also my wife as well.I can see why you said that.
Just got back from that beautiful little home village of Marsaxlokk ,it was a so great to be back and see family and friends ,hope we can make it again in the near future missing it already , and wish we had a bit more time in Malta ,thank you for the video Alex x
Great. I loved Marsaxlokk, and I was there on a quiet weekday in December so I had the town almost to myself. The colourful fishing boats bobbing up and down in the harbour made an impressive, unforgettable scene. I went crazy with the camera. Those houses with the different coloured doors and window shutters were also so very photogenic.
I couldnt agree more. December was the month when i went last as well (before the day when i was filming this) everything is so picturesque there ❤️
Thank you, Alex, for bringing back such fond memories for me with this video! Those sweets--so many varieties at that stall--were so tasty, so I'm glad you showed us that; the fresh fish; the clothing; the souvenirs of authentic Maltese lace and embroidery--all such interesting sights! I brought back lace fans for a few friends from Marsaxlokk. That boat ride through the blue-blue-blue waters looked like such fun, similar to boat rides at other spots on the coast of Malta to go out to sea a bit and look back and get wet. Nicely done! And the small town, authentic Maltese culture is also present in Floriana with the baker and the carts of fresh vegetables and fruits and fish in the mornings too.
Thanks Simone. As always its so nice reading your comments. I am glad i brought up memories❤️ thank you for the constant support

I love Marsaxlokk!! And the water… it’s so blue. ❤️ St. Peter’s Pools looks very familiar; I think we used to go skin diving there. I wish my mom were still alive to see this video. She drove us all over that island because she didn’t want us to miss a thing about it. I know she would’ve loved to see what it’s like now.

Im glad you do, yes marsaxlokk is amazing
Yesssss Aleeee
Agree that places like Marsaxlokk should remain the same and not be developed. It's stunning and one of my favourite places to visit in Malta. I love the small fishing boats.
Hey David, yes, i hope Marsaxlokk will remain as it is in the next 2 centuries at least :)
We been here on 10th April 2022 but didn’t see you there dude 😜 love the fish market and restaurants

@@AlexinMalta ok. I will watch it
Hi Alex. Marsaxlokk is indeed a very beautiful traditional fishing village. At the end of my one month vacation this February in Malta, I spent the last few days in this idyllic village. What a joy to stroll along the cove and harbour, talking to fishermen and watching the traditional fishing boats moored in the harbour! And the Sunday market was fabulous. I saw a few familiar faces in your video. The guy that took you to St. Peter's pool, his colleague, the lady at the sea-food stall, etc. I enjoyed my stay at Marsaxlokk very much. The only unpleasant experience I had in the village was with the owner of the sweets stall where you bought a dessert. I did not bother to ask the price because anywhere I went in Malta and Gozo, local people are very honest and friendly. But at that stall, I was blatantly overcharged and the owner became very aggresive when I protested. The guy is not from the village though, according to my fishermen friends. On the whole, Marsaxlokk is a beautiful fishing village definitely worth a detour.
Hey hey❤️ i enjoyed reading your comment and im glad it brought you back some memories from February. I can see in your comment your enjoyed Malta to the fullest and im so happy. The sweet i got was €5 and yes i believe that is a lot for a piece of sweet which was absolutely delicious. On the other hand, i noticed Maltese and Non-Maltese were having their spots on the market, i guess its open for anyone to purchase a spot for selling goods. Thank you for supporting my channel❤️
❤️
Hi Alex! Do you have any plans on doing a video that concentrates on the fruits, veggies & meats that are available at the markets in Malta ? I understand that the fish options are plentiful. You lightly covered some of it in this video, but I'm searching for more of a comprehensive video that details what is available. Thank you!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
❤️❤️❤️
I enjoy your videos but I think you should spend some time showing the different restaurants and price points in the area. Also, maybe talk about the history of the area and the significance of the colourful boats. It would also be nice to hear from locals as well as tourists. Just a suggestion. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much Sheryl, yes, you are right i want to spend more time talking with locals but believe me, its so hard to find some of them to come on camera. Regarding history, i will start including slight info about it in every city that i visit❤️
The boats are called "luzzu" and came about around the late 1800s. They have small eyes on the front for a representation of Osiris who "protects the fishermen", an ancient Phonecean custom. The colours are purely for aesthetic, although pinstriping details used to point out which bay they belong to. Sadly, few remain, they get abandoned and decay, and it takes a lot of woodwork skill to manufacture new ones.
Hi alex
Enjoy😊😊
hey :) thank you
Alex
Tel me.. low cost hotel charge in plase at malta
Great videos, been enjoying them for awhile. As a woodcarver who has made a living off markets and galleries I found this one xtra interesting. I would also be interested in the booth fee (how much do venders pay). I read that artsy street vendors in certain parts are being restricted. Also interested in biking culture there: pedal bikes. It feels like there is not a lot of biking infrastructure. Thanks again for your information: easy to watch and listen. Kudos
thank you for the lovely comment Steve, i will be doing a dedicated video on transport in Malta so i will cover pretty much everything regarding bikes as well :) thanks for the constant support
Great video thank you alex
Wish Alex can do a video for Marsascala! 😂
Lovely vlog ,will the market and the boat trips be open on 25 December?
Alex love this video! Which restaurant do you recommend to eat here!?
Thank you ;) honestly i cant recommend any as they were all FULL i couldnt try any of them i ended up going to St Julians for lunch haha but i spoke with tourists and all restaurants are good with fresh food
Hi Alex,, just watching your video in Marsaxlokk and I know how busy it gets especially in the Summer. I went by their linea and your have to go first thing in the morning, like really early! I just heard you say that you are allergic to fish. That’s too bad as the fish there is like no where.. I had gone to a local restaurant and had squid pasta . It’s made with the ink of the squid so it sounds a bit strange but it is a great seafood dish….
Hey hey Melanie, too bad i cant eat anything that comes out of the sea, and i live in Malta :) yes Marsaxlokk on Sunday is super busy, so going there by 7am woukd be good to find parking and start the market shopping spree :)
You should actually try going to the outdoor market in Birgu. My cousin took me there last time I was in Malta and unfortunately we were getting there at the tail end of the open market , it was around 11:30 in the morning but the market starts at 6 AM when the air is still a bit cooler especially in July!
@@melanieabela3973 thanks Melanie❤️ that is my next stop 🥰

Aren't there any foreigners working as fishermen too? In Italy and in Greece, for example, there are many Egyptian fishermen.
Hi Alex, I lived in Marsaxlokk for 26 years and I must say it is so beautiful so authentic. Unfortunately the over development that is happening in Malta is ruining all of its beauty :( keep up the good work
