    Can you offer a guideline for climate adjustments? The main things I'm wondering are cold vs. hot...and dry vs. humid. My best guess is to not use much - if any - water for binding in high humidity. ... And what conditions merit more or less oil? I'm in a climate that is currently cold and dry. Any thoughts would be so apprecisted. 😊

    • @SoyandShea
      @SoyandShea  Год назад +1

      You are thinking right. The more humid it is, the less water needed and vice versa. Oil doesn't really impact it as much as water so I find I don't need to adjust oil amounts

      @@SoyandShea Thanks so much for your reply! I've made a few test batches where the water in my dry area made a big difference. So far, I also noticed that sufficient/correct moisture with good pressure when molding really helped achieve the final hardness I wanted. Thank you again! 👍🥰

    • @SoyandShea
      @SoyandShea  6 месяцев назад

      You can always increase the amount of fragrance but you would need to check the usage rates of the essential oils and make sure they are within allowed rates, especially as it is inhaled. Another thing to keep in mind, is the temperature of the shower water. Hotter showers will enhance the aroma as it works on evaporation and the rising of steam from the bottom of the shower. If the shower is too cool, the aromas can't rise.

    Hey Keely, I noticed that you do a lot of "shrink wrap", I was wondering would it be possible to vaccum seal instead. Being that i live 10 miles from the gulf coast. As in TOO MUCH moisture. Would vaccum sealing help or hurt the finished product. I'm referring to bath bombs, fizzies, etc. Thanks in advance. You do a spactacular job...

    • @SoyandShea
      @SoyandShea  3 года назад

      Vacuum sealing would certainly prevent moisture but the constant pressure may be too much. We get very high humidity here and shrink wrap protects everything well

  • @sweetsurrenderspaqualityba4240

    Amazing helpful and informative video. I've not worked with menthol crystals yet and was wondering if they alter the scent of fragrance oils or if it's better to use fragrances that are either mint or compliments minty scents? For instance, would menthol crystals alter a coffee or floral scent? I'm assuming the addition of menthol not only helps to open and soothe sinuses but probably helps boosts the intensity of the fragrance oil so it doesn't get lost.

    • @SoyandShea
      @SoyandShea  5 лет назад

      Thank you 😊 I've only ever used menthol Crystal with complimentary FO or EO as they are quite strong in aroma especially once melted down into oil or EO. It really boosts Peppermint EO 😊

      For me polysorbate is a must when introducing oils to water to stop people slipping and hurting themselves.
      It's not that I don't want to share my recipe, but unlike a soap or lotion recipe, this style of recipe is very temperamental to weather and environmental conditions so you may need more or less liquid and may even be able to use water instead of oil.
