VW Golf MK7 (5G) Dynamic Road Sign Display activated

- How the Dynamic Road Sign Display works in Volkswagen Golf MK7 after enabling it with OBDeleven. This feature is using Lane Assist camera to detect road signs and shows you speed limits and "no overtaking" on the instrument cluster and navigation screen.
It works in "Fusion Mode" with navigation database. This means that it merges navigation speed limits with actual road signs data.
#RoadSign feature will work correctly only in car is fitted with navigation and HQ camera (for Lane Assist and Dynamic Light Assist). You can enable it with OBDeleven, VCDS, or any other diagnostic interface capable of changing coding and adaptation values in VAG cars.
This was testing in VW Golf MK7 but the procedure should be the same for other cars that share MQB platform: Audi A3 8V, Skoda Octavia MK3, Seat Leon MK3.
Procedure:
Module: 5F (Information electronics)
Adaptation → Channel: Car Function List BAP Gen2 - traffic sign recognition 0x21 → active
Adaptation → Channel: Car Function List BAP Gen2 - traffic sign recognition 0x21 msg bus → Databus extended
Adaptation → Channel: Car Function Adaptations Gen2 - menu display road sign identification → active
Adaptation → Channel: Car Function Adaptations Gen2 - menu display road sign identification over threshold high → active
Coding → Long Coding → Byte: 24 → Bit: 6 → active
Module: A5 (Front Sensors Driver Assistance System)
Security Access → Code: 20103
Coding → Long Coding → Byte: 01 → Bit: 0 → active
Adaptation → Channel: Road Sign Detection Fusion Mode → Road sign fusion
Adaptation → Channel: Display end of speed limit symbol → active
Adaptation → Channel: Valid additional characters → 00100111
Module: 17 (Instruments Cluster)
Coding → Long Coding → Byte: 05 → Bit: 2 → active
Reboot infotainment unit by pressing and holding volume knob for 10 seconds.
On the infotainment display go to Car → Setup → Driver Assistance Settings → Dynamic Road Sign Display and enable "Show in instrument cluster" option.
On the infotainment display go to Car → Setup → Instrument Cluster Settings and enable "Dynamic Road Sign Display" option.

Happy to help! 2014 car will most likely have MIB1 infotainment system which will be a bit different.
Thanks for the video, i have been able to enable sign assist on my golf but i have some issue :
I use odb Eleven it's perfect but this time i wasn't able to do this 2 steps :
Adaptation → Channel: Display end of speed limit symbol → active
Adaptation → Channel: Valid additional characters → 00100111
I found a workaround :
Module A5 -> long coding -> byte 16 -> Traffic sign recognition VZE : Not Coded -> Coded
Hi mr-fix, thank for all the help and your videos, i have a VW Golf 7 R-Line 2014, where is Camera or how can i see or find if i have it on my VW Golf MK7? If i don't have the Camera on my car what type or Brand is the front Camera that i need for my car? Is there a original front Camera for my model?
I've retrofited 5Q0 camera con Golf 7 2016 (CZCA 1.4 TSI R-Line Lounge), but traffic sign rec. and high beam assist won't work :-( already tried a lot of coding solutions :-(
Hello, I did everything as on video. Road Sign Detection activated successfully, but every time after ignition ON, I get error "U111000 Function restriction due to communication interruption" Golf MK7. Do you know the reason?

Hi, I’m french, I try coding Dynamic Road Sign assist, but it’s dosn’t working good. when there is not Road Sign on thé road, I don’t have Sign on my cluster.
On discover, after coding and reboot with volume button, they is 2 line for road sign, first is Ok, but in the cluster setting there is not "dynamic" Road Sign display but simplement Road Sign assist.
In the codage procedur, I have not:
Module 5F - Longcoding byte 24 - bit 6 active. In this byte I have : trailer reconition - activé or not.
My car is Golf 7 GTD 2014 with lane assist and light assist. but I have retrofit a Discover pro 3, 9".
If you can help me bro.

I get this message every time I'm on a new road that's not on the GPS maps yet.
I dont have the Front Camera. Only the Navigation. Can i add the Navigation kmh icon on the Cockpit Display?

My Golf 7.5 2018 has dash cam under front mirror for autom. long beam can be coding to trafic sign read?
Camera in mirror is for high beam only. For advanced features (dynamic light assist, traffic sign recognition, lane assist) you need the camera that's installed in the windscreen.

I have car without vw default navigation.. I am using apple carplay with waze. Is there some additional benefit from sign recognition? I have acc, so maybe it will be able to adujst the speed? Thanks.
Any word on what the long coding values names are in 5F A5 and 17? Also can you confirm your camera in A5 starts with 5Q0? In nam we have 3Q0 and I have been told the long coding is different in A5. For the other two I am trying to find the right option because none are present for me and my guess they are in a different spot in nar cars as well
These settings do not exist in my 2020 Golf MK7.5 R (Australia)... Adaptation → Channel: Display end of speed limit symbol → active
Adaptation → Channel: Valid additional characters → 00100111
This was tested in my 2016 MK7. Newer cars (with latest firmware) can have different options. Also sometimes there are channels named in German instead of English.
@@mrfixpl OK have sign recognition working and displaying in dash and setting in Multi Media Unit though... but temperamental and sometimes does not read signs. BUT then again have read that they are all like that? Especially in Australia as we have different signage ... Thanks Laurie

Does not work in every country. Australia not working here because it is designed for European signage

Good work, can you tell me if your camera is a 5q0 or a 3q0 series ? Tried enabling it on mine., but mine is without a nav., so this did not work. Also the road symbols on the did not recognize., will read the road name us60 as 60 kmpl.
Mine is 5Q0 series.
Heard the option in A5 shifts to byte 16 but 4 on 3Q0

Well, if I had to pay somebody $50 to enable it, I would say that it’s not worth it. But if you have access to OBDeleven, give it a try.

Mine doesn’t. But there are hints I the software of this feature. Also of ACC setting max speed to current camera readout.

Last time I checked it was recognizing some signs but assumed km/h unit instead of mph.
Hello....I try and I try and I try with VCDS 19.6....I have golf 2019. Line assist it’s enabled by factory but I just can’t activate traffic sign recognition...... can you please make a video with vcds steps..... we all are begging you EAST Europe :)
East Europe we have to make a buypass (VZE)?
Coding procedure is the same for OBDeleven, VCDS or any other diagnostic interface that do coding/adaptation.
If you want more help then you need to provide more information than "can't activate". At which point you have problems? Missing controller? Coding not accepted? Feature missing? Errors?

Does this work only with the camera system or also with the nav/gps which often has the speed limit saved?
AFAIK you need GPS system to fill in the blanks from camera. To be honest I don’t have access to car with camera and without nav to try make it working.
@@mrfixpl I have nav on mine but the camera is software blocked (no assist). Sounds like this should work for me though. I'll try it out as soon as my reader arrives thanks for the tip!

Trzeba dołożyć dwa radary za tylnym zderzakiem, inne zwierciadła lusterek, wiązki, kodowanie.
@@mrfixpl Tak myslalem, ze dodatkowy sprzet jest potrzebny. Czy to jest port z nowszych wersji? GolfVII/Leon5f/OctaviaIII chyba nigdy nie byly oferowane z tym systemem?
Mam to fabrycznie w MK7 przeliftowym (2016).
I think this camera also supports Pedestrian warning option, may be you can try enabling that.
I believe that pedestrian warning and traffic jam assistant require newer hardware.
