I have MT2 brakes that were getting squishy. I followed along with the directions and they are just like new now. My only changed was that I used a 3mL syringe for the top reservoir when I was bleeding out the air. To the negative comments about the plastic reservoir caps, they aren’t the best but if you follow the torque recommendations then you shouldn’t have any issues. Thanks for the video!
I'll just add that EBT screw has a very fragile interface with the female threads in the brake lever, and will strip with just a trifle over torquing and, because it's all nylon, you don't feel any definite "stop" when tightening that screw which noble Magura only wants 12 bucks for. Once "stripped" you will spin and spin to remove and the screw will never come out. I just went through this. I had to dig and lever with a knife point, carefully and painstakingly just to get the then-destroyed screw out! Why anyone would manufacture such a fragile parts interface is a mystery to me. But then again, I don't sell these screws. Please note: my previous comment came before destroying a screw while trying to remove it. I went looking for one because the bike with MT2's just bought was missing one EBT. Now I need two and have since found pairs of them for sale on ebay at a price very close to what Magura wants for one.
I bled mine as suggested, and now have no power, or movement of pistons whatsoever. I have the MT2's. The only thing I can think of is the calliper bleed port is on the side of the calliper. Do I have to remove the calliper and have the port facing up? There' is fluid in the port when I remove the syringe, so I really don;t think this is the issue.
Why not mention what size (torx is it?) bit is required for the EBT screw? Wouldn't that be nice? Also wonder how Magura gets off charging $12 for a replacement EBT screw, shipping not included! Nice looking brakes though....
A Torx T25 tool is required for the EBT-screws. We have new Tech Videos about the filling and bleeding process where this is mentioned: ruclips.net/video/GMRk916qJTg/видео.html All information can also be found within the manual of your MT brakes.
@@MAGURAPassionPeople Why are still the plastic EBT screws used??? They brake off just by looking at them !!! Don t understand this: people are complaining about this poor manufactured item since the beginning!
The EBT screws are worthless. The cheap plastic screws are garbage. Is there anything else to use? Has anyone tried set screws like the ones on the caliper?
i have been having problems with all my Magura brakes not matter how much i take it to the shop, i advise not to but their products they are very faulty and overpriced
Hi, Could you do me a favor? One of my customers met an issue that the spokes just hit the hydraulic hose using Magura M8 brakes. what would you recommend to give more clearance?
Hi there, I would recommend to take a quick look at the banjo fitting on the brake caliper. Maybe can fix the problem by opening the banjo screw a bit. After that you can angle the tube in a better way that it doesn't hit the spokes any longer. If you've got any further questions you can always contact us on facebook.
Avid copying the old maguras and magura making things overcomplicated? My old Louises never ever had any problems still running them on the old bike without replacing a thing. 10 years and stil going. The new mt 4 on my new bike already loosing their nylon bearings? Stuff that's not even present in the old Lousies. Planned obsolescence otherwise it makes no sense
WHY are still the plastic (bullshit) EBT screws used??? Broke 2 just on installing and bleeding the MT Trail carbon. Nearly 400 euro and than this plastic disaster people are complaining about for decades!!
Got some MT6 brakes not used for years. Tried to bleed...STUPID PLASTIC BLEED SCREWS!!!! Couldn't get them to move without force so obviously the PLASTIC SCREWS (????) stripped easily. So to hell with Magura plastic. I just bought METAL ones from China for half the Magura price. Will continue riding the other bike until they arrive. FFS.
Plastics on plastics. My MT8 is f*ckin' shit. Also 5 year warranty is a myth. Still waiting for the answer from Magura. Scam company these days. My old HS33 are still great.
Magura is a waste of time. You will never get all the air out and they always squeak. They couldn't even find an English speaking narrator for the video. Pure crap.

Bled my MT trails today! Thanks to this video it was easy
Magura breaks are good, i've got the marta sl, i like the breaks.
I,ve filling/ breeding it 1 time in 2.5 years.
Great video, did my MT4 today. Used two syringes.
Agreed with the below comments regarding the EBT reservoir screw, why the heck are they made out of a plastic? Mine stripped just looking at it.
I believe they are plastic because the levers are a composite material and it's easier and cheaper to replace the EBT than the lever body.
really happy with my mt trail sl, made in Germany means high quality

The EBT-screw has a maximum torque setting of 0,5Nm.
There is an easy way of removing the broken screw. All you need to do is to warm up torx key and just melt the key inside the screw.
Why there is no classic bleed screw like on cars?
Yes why is the reservoir plugs made of weak plastic? this is not good and the threads have gone on mine!
Is this still applicable for the mt8 raceline?
Same Problem with reservoir plugs, replaced several times. Plastic junk.
Thank you

It's been 6 years but would you still be able to tell how you fixed it? Got the same problem :(

Can Shimano brake oil used in this?
We cannot recommend using anything else than MAGURA Royal Blood for bleeding our MT and HS brake systems.
Guten Tag Freund, herzlichen Glückwunsch zu deinen Beiträgen,

kannst du mir sagen wieviel ml Öl jede Magura MT 2 Bremse braucht?
danke

Magura rocks!!!
there are metal reservoir plugs available, use them, much better
Can i use shimano mineral oil in magura breaks ?
Please only use original MAGURA Royal Blood!
Kind regards! MAGURA Social Media Team
@@MAGURAPassionPeople Royal Blood or Unicorn Blood... what prices. BTW EBT screws are made of meteorites brought from Mars. Again what prices.
My 2011 Maguras have metal plugs.
Same process for the MT5?
Yes. All Magura MT series have the same lever system and bleed system too.

Hindsight. MT6 were a nightmare. Tiny bleed ports with nylon set screws? Once and done. Total garbage.
👌🇩🇪👍
Is it the same process for MT7 Race line breaks?
Yes. All Magura MT series have the same lever system and bleed system too.
Trump TheTerrorist jezzus christ 4 years ago really? Lol, thanks for highlighting the typo.
He stripped the thread at 3:33
You would know, Lord.
Fuckn douche
Jesus Christ it looks like it, and not strange considering it only needs 2.5 nm, that is basically feather tight
Agreed. The reservoir plugs are shit.

Way over priced, and have a tendency to squeak. Avid Elixir never have to worry about and have worked great for three years. Stay away from Magura.
