    In this video, I show you how to build a grow light stand for less than $25.
    This grow light stand is pretty versatile. It's tall enough to make it easy to dial in lighting intensity, and still short enough to fit on standard countertops or tables without hitting the ceiling.
    Another benefit to this type of light stand is that it assembles and disassembles in about a minute. Since the whole stand comes apart, it's easy to store when you're not using it.
    You'll save money buying these materials locally.

    Fantastic! Simple instructions and easy to follow. Need to set up a system to take care of the newbies before it warms up outside. Have the shelving unit, have lights, just need a plan for the top grow light. Thank you so much.

    To make it more stable you can add small rocks, cement or any heavy element inside the tubes, it will be harder to get knocked out that way.

    Great video! Just made this stand but used wood instead. 2x3's are $3.50 each, and only needed 2 peices.

    If you're spanning more than 2-3 feet, you can shove a 5/8" inch of hardwood dowel rod through the PVC for extra support. Cheaper than going to 1" PVC all around.

    A great setup. Fast, easy, and cheap, the same way I like my women. *lol*
    I bought everything to do this same light stand. However, I went with 1 inch PVC, but only because I plan on using a couple of 4 foot PVC sections for the light support section to extend it, at some point. I'll probably add to the height, too. I just wanted the extra support, but will still use a 'T' fitting and a third vertical support in the middle of the stand. With no totes to strap the structure to it'll need to be very rigid, and have long 'feet.' Truthfully though, 3/4" would have probably worked fine.
    I setup an 8-bucket DWC grow in a 4 x 4 grow tent, and the results were/are so good I'm going to do another 8-buckets (2 buckets side-by-side, 8 rows) under my PVC stand. I've grown lots of various plants, in soil, and hydroponically, but I've never seen zucchini produce as quickly as they did in my grow tent. Although they are normally fast to produce, of course.

    You should make the P.V.C adaptable and adjustable so you can raise it as the plants grow taller...

    • @HydroHowTo
      @HydroHowTo  Год назад

      Interesting thought. I normally make them as tall as I need, and adjust the lights instead.

    • @Troll12579
      @Troll12579 10 месяцев назад

      Yes it’s easier to build as tall as you will need, the lights come with adjustable straps to raise and lower the light itself.

    Here is an idea, set up a grow system for indoor herb garden. Basle, rosemary, sage, thyme, you get the idea. Grow it and show people they can have fresh indoor herb easy. I would am trying to make on now that is simple, reliable, look neat and produce fresh herbs. Every thing from the light, the system and the plants. could be a cool series.

    • @maureenbragg9708

      I think I'll just leave one hole open to refill. Once the plants are growing, lifting the lid won't be so easy...@@HydroHowTo

    I did a similar tote design without air stones for strawberries they all died. I think the strawberries will need the air stones for a modified kratky method. However I am leaning more toward wicking method, perlite, peat moss. why this? I is what I have readily available that I don't have to spend money on. foxfarm nutrients

    Is that enough light?

    • @HydroHowTo
      @HydroHowTo  Год назад +1

      It depends on what you’re growing, but for most things it’s enough light. I’ve been extremely impressed with the whole ViparSpectra lineup. I’ve used the model shown in this video for growing salad greens, radishes, peas, beans, zucchini, and tomatoes. All with excellent results!
