I’m blown away. I can’t imagine building something so massive to perfection, and then cutting it into pieces. Remarkable vision, planning, and execution. Thanks for sharing your story.
I am completely addicted to self build series on RUclips, but this series (I have only watched the two) takes the biscuit! I am just dumbfounded with what can be achieved by one person in 5 years. Sir, I salute you and look forward to seeing the next 5 episodes. Just literally unbelievable...
Very interesting And would like to see it make its maiden voyage. Very nice build and design...wow this is from 1992 is it still floating and traveling??? Congratulations 🍺😎
I have been looking for videos or any kind of info on this boat for years now. I watched this boat get built for years. I remember first seeing the pontoons getting built, riding by on our bikes thinking “wtf?” Then seeing this massive build transform into a beautiful yacht and then it just vanished. A couple years ago I was thinking where the hell this thing was or if it still existed. I am glad that it does! Btw this was built off of hwy 74 between elsinore and perris in so cal. Pretty nuts if you think about it.
I lived on my boat across the street when we heard about this, and the San Diego Boat Movers delivered it to the boatyard. I was impressed from day one what a good looking boat that Clyde designed and built.
Amazing on so many levels. The guy was obviously a metal fabricator and welder to begin with. I am too, which leads me to wonder how he made the money to do this project. It's obvious this man lived his life doing things on another level. This yacht represents what can be accomplished with learned skills and true vision... And more than a little determination. The world needs a movie about this.
This guy is the alien energy beast of planet earth, it is so astounding to be almost unbelievable that he’s pulled this off. As this was done in the early 90’s am looking forward to seeing where the yacht is today and what other building events he as pulled off since. Hats off to you man, you’re one of a kind.
This is phenomenal. I refitted a 28 ft yacht and that took me 5 years. I don’t know how you did this. This build is truly legendary. And to think this is all in the 90’s. When the internet hardly existed and you couldn’t just google your way out a problem. I truly salute your achievement. I am actually dumbfounded by your achievement. Well done Sir. I can’t wait to see more videos.
Wow. I’m totally speechless. Who the hell can design and build a super yacht to a commercially viable standard by themselves in their back yard? Let’s then add the foresight, planning, and engineering to disassemble it and transport it to the sea. What’s next a space station and a manned drill to go to the center of the earth? Thank you for sharing your journey, it’s so wonderful in these scary times to be reminded there are those among us capable of truly amazing feats.
I can't help but think that as you planned and built this, you had your cut lines in mind-- and how to reinforce them when you reassembled the boat. This whole project is genius!
OMG! You are crazy insane! Your design is the most beautiful catamaran I have ever seen! You are a crazy Genius! How many divorces did you go thru? This is an amazing accomplishment, and I guess will be your retirement home (resort)! An absolut Marvel! Congratulations! I am speechless! Bravo!
Your videos came up in my suggestions, as I like to watch sailing vlogs. I have to say I'm absolutely astounded by the sheer magnitude of work you undertook to get your ship built. It's taken me 5 years just to sort out the clutter in my spare room! I procrastinate too much and waste far too much time watching other people, such as yourself, succeed. You're clearly a very intelligent, driven, successful person. I would like to hear more about you as a person. Life skills and experience. I think we could all learn a lot from what you have to say. Hats off to you.
I’m just in amazement I couldn’t even begin to guess the man hours and amount of money that went into this project and then to have to cut it all up to move it. Not only were you designing and building a ship you were also building tools to make your jobs easier. I can’t wait to see more. so cool your dedication to make this happen is beyond words.
As a co-builder in a couple metal sailing yachts I am gobsmacked by what you have accomplished as an individual. Remarkable planning and execution. My hat is off to you.
Between yourself and the folks over at SV Seeker the level of commitment and skill is completely off the charts. It is truly amazing what can be accomplished if you have the drive, dedication and courage it takes to truly go after your dreams. Thank you for giving the rest of us an example of what can and in a lot of cases could/should be done.
You are simply amazing, you built this yacht in 5 years and thereafter others that can’t paint there home in that amount of time. I’m sure there is more here then meets the eye, but you got me I’m here to the end. More time watching how you overcome the problems that you jumped through while I should be outside painting my home and putting a new roof on.if more people had your ambitions this country would be a heck of a lot stronger!!! Your Yacht looks awesome 🇺🇸👍
Anyone that has welded aluminum knows that this is the equivalent of scaling Everest twice. I want to second the vision, execution, and resolve to accomplish such a fete. Primo maestro!
With a good power source like that Millermatic - you can do "spray-arc" style MIG, which does a beautiful job on aluminum - much faster/easier than gas welding or TIG, too.
I built a 52' cat in sacramento in the 80's , always dreamed about metal 100' with electric fuel cell power , to do commercial diving ,machining, welding and electronics /solar. You pulled it off ,great work.
@Katie McCormick Stück Hi Katie, great to hear from you, Yes I would love to have some of your photos for my next video to Cabo. Can you call Jennifer?
I've been building a 50' aluminum sailboat of my own design in my back yard for 5 years, while still working, so this is amazing! you must have worked everyday on it. I too have to remove my pilot house for transport, but cutting it into pieces must have been a bit nerve racking.
You are one in a million a true legend a genius with no education an entrepreneur a visionist the whole package a man that can't take no for an answer i could go on for days of what you have done you are an inspiration to all pure skill determination dedication
I'm pretty sure your a Savant! Incredible achievement is not the word I'm looking for, but there isn't a word for something like this! Bravo Sir Bravo!!
Greg I live in Canyon Lake used to stop by and watch you build the boat, then one day it was gone. never knew what happened to it. great to finally find out. thanks for the video
All I can say is: BRAVO! What a blast from the past. This video reminds me of the times of my childhood (born in 89'). Furthermore, this build is just insane. I can't wait for the rest of the series! May I just make a suggestion that a 7th episode could be a little about you, your background, your family, what did you do for a living back then, etc. I am so curious!

We hit a storm on Thanksgiving night (02') while traveling with Clyde from San Diego to Cabo in the middle of the night. Headed directly into the wind with huge wave's from the south. As Kaleidoscope rose up over every 6 to 8 foot wave and slammed down the backside we had complete confidence she was going to perform as advertised. Visibility was so poor that Clyde took a knife and totally cut out the eisenglass to see ahead thru the storm. When we rounded the point and came into port at Cabo San Lucas we kissed the boat and the ground. That is one Very Solid Yacht ! Thanks Clyde !
I have built, Rockcrawlers, mud trucks, converted a old high school to a marijuana grow, homes, shops, semi trucks, sail boats. I finish a project snd start on something different immediately. But this gave me anxiety! Hats off to you. Extremely impressive.

I hope this thing bloody well floats, man your brave son of a gun. I love your work and I love your tenacity. Good luck, I mean it I really wish you luck.

It’s unbelievable 😮I thought I had seen everything… and then I see this !! It takes a genius to make this happen 👏🏻👏🏻 amazing that a human can do this 💪🏼 you also could have build Noah’s ark 😉
It would add much more texture to the build and future videos if you put some of your background story into the 'About' section of your channel + adding an introductory video. You deserve huge recognition through your RUclips channel. What a build and incredible organisation to pull it off.
While necessary, it must have been heart breaking to cut her into pieces. That said, it must have been a sight to see that little convey progressing down the road. Looking to see what happened when you reached your destination. Thanks for sharing
This made me remember a build 15 years back of a Transit Rail Simulator. It was used to simulate the stress autos go through on train car flatbeds. It was 16f x 8f made from 1/2in plate aluminum that had linear bearings running the full length with + or - 3 thousands over it's entire length. It was a nightmare to cut it using a circular saw and welding it was worse. Anyone within 20f had to have eye protection due to the reflective surface. I can't even imagine the struggles you went through with building this. But nicely done.
This is incredible 😮🦾😃 I wish I could sit down and have a meal w/ you Clyde, I have so many questions If you don't mind me asking: how old were you when you started to build it? I ask because you an a HUGE inspiration A suggestion for a video is talking about how you spent on the build It does not have to be exactly but just to give us an idea. I have to say that you must be extremely smart, to take on a project like this and finish it, to me is simply amazing 👍👍👍
Man I think it's clear that you have lots of new friends out there who admire your work! Awesome job on documenting the journey! What's the estimated weight completely finished? Thanks again for your efforts to share this with us!
I watched both vids. The result of 5 years of work is incredible, thats for sure. I wondered how you managed to install the shafts and props with so little space. But building this, and cutting it all apart, seems like a nightmare to me. Very eager to see the rest. Roland from good old Germany.
Just watched both of your uploads so far. I subscribed and I'm excited to watch the rest of the series. You are obviously very talented and driven to not only design and build this but also to finish and launch it. I am also excited to see any videos of other projects you have completed.
Can you imagine the conversations? Hey man nice boat, who built it??.... I did, in my backyard.... Ha ha ha seriously, who built it???.... I seriously did, in my backyard 🤣🤣🤣

Me too!
I'm still looking for my jaw!
Heartbroken. Didn't see how he was gonna pull off a move after the build with the aerial shots but damn. Did not see that coming.

If this whole story was a movie, people would say it was too unbelievable.
This guy imagined it, never doubted himself, and stayed with it till it was done. I wouldn't want that guy as an enemy. Unflappable and unstoppable
His boat gets stolen by the drug cartels. He gets it back with another amazimg story.
This has to be the greatest diy project ever. Absolutely amazing.

Absolutely amazing.
This is incredible 😮🦾😃
I wish I could sit down and have a meal w/ you Clyde, I have so many questions
If you don't mind me asking:
how old were you when you started to build it?
I ask because you an a HUGE inspiration
A suggestion for a video is talking about how you spent on the build
It does not have to be exactly but just to give us an idea.
I have to say that you must be extremely smart,
to take on a project like this and finish it,
to me is simply amazing 👍👍👍
This is amazing. The amount of time that must have gone into this
as a lazy couch spud I'm very impressed
Man I think it's clear that you have lots of new friends out there who admire your work! Awesome job on documenting the journey! What's the estimated weight completely finished?
Thanks again for your efforts to share this with us!
I watched both vids. The result of 5 years of work is incredible, thats for sure. I wondered how you managed to install the shafts and props with so little space. But building this, and cutting it all apart, seems like a nightmare to me. Very eager to see the rest. Roland from good old Germany.
That is amazing. I'm sure you have heard and read that a lot but it is. I'm very proud of you.
That's impressive!
