      I'm 68 now. That kid was me as I grew up in America. No kids like that anymore. They don't even know how to use tools. Besides, the "authorities" would shut him down immediately, for some chicken shit code violation. Back to the gang in the hood. An American tragedy...

    The owner of that boat just called and he wants it back now!! Seriously, restoring and rebuilding that engine was effing incredible!! There are hundreds of mechanics with complete engine shops who couldn't have done what you did, and you had nothing more than hand tools and some grinders!!! Great job, I salute you sir!!

      It's fake, the moment salt water touches the iner parts of the engine it's a death sentence, corrotion corrosion begins the instant the salt water touches the metal

      @@genespell4340 are you serious? if you know how an engine works you will know that at least one intake valve and one exhaust valve will be open when the engine is off, obviously the salt water will get into the engine and rust inside, turbos will rust if you stop using the boat for a while, now imagine how it would rust in the sea, for the engine to look like in the video it had to be in the sea for months or years, don't believe everything you see on the internet, RUclips is full of liars doing fake videos to get views, although the video is good for entertainment, the engine part is not real.

      @@CarlosSD What's fake about it. You can see him rebuilding everything. What you're saying is you can't comprehend the unbelievable amount of work he does on ALL of his projects because you could never do it yourself. He's one of the worlds greatest mechanics in my book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I lived in Vietnam for 5 years, and the ingenuity of its people has never ceased to amaze me. This salvage and restoration was something to behold. I cannot believe the work that was done on that barnacle-encrusted engine. In addition, the quality of the video and the editing was fantastic. Thanks for posting the video!

      Руки может золотые но такой ремонт никому ненужен. Не раз перебирал но такого ещё не видел чтоб турбину так ремонтировали и все остальное,для контента и просмотров диванных механиков в самый раз.

    I admire your patience, determination, and your prowess in building this yacht. The patience you have used in dis-assembling the hull and insert, and the determination in tearing down the engine, cleaning it up, installing the new bearings, piston rings, gaskets, and getting it running like it was new again. I was an Auto mechanic/technician 46 years and it's such a pleasure to watch someone do what you're doing with such determination and patience. Thank you for sharing a small portion of your life with us, it is very interesting.

      Yea they aren't wasteful like other countries. Here in the states you just get a whole new boat lol. F trying to fix it. But Mr ho has inspired me to reuse old parts instead of buying new ones

    I am seriously impressed.. Now I’m a damn good mechanic and love restoring any type of moving part but damn I’d of tossed that huge paperweight out and started fresh if of course I had 20 grand burning a hole in my pocket .. So my hats off to you for that awesome overhaul!!! I can’t wait for the fitting of the new power plant???!!!!

    I can appreciate your work. I have restored several veicles including a 1963 Ford falcon. It looked like an old wreck when I got it. I won best Ford in show several years later. Your diligence has payed off, well done Mr HỒ Thánh Chế. The engine purrs like a cat.

    As a 20 year plus mechanic that has performed many, many restoration; this blew me away. I have Never to rebuild a engine that was found on a beach. Very impressed.

      An engine overgrown with shells. And there was no water inside! Although he was all under salt water!!!! Don't make me laugh!!! Who plugged the intake and exhaust manifolds there? And all the bolts and nuts turn away? It's just a regular RUclips show.

    Very impressive! Especially that engine rebuild. I was surprised to see how good the inside looked, considering it had obviously been submerged for quite some time. Excellent job, looking forward to the next part!

      It's pretty common for flooded engines. No oxygen no rust, on high end flooded yacht engines it's common to pump in oil to replace the water and the engine will suffer no damage, as long as oxygen is never introduced inside.

    Hats off to this. Seriously amazing. I feel like a lot of people may also overlook that this was a salt water engine, which means that almost every nut/bolt was probably corroded and fused together from neglect and exposure to the elements. This has earned them the rep for being the most challenging kind of motor to work on. Take it from me, a guy who has almost pulled my hair out working on

      Look at the number of shells. During this time, this motor would have rotted completely in salt water. It's fake.

      @@chandlerthomas3199 People draw dollars, make fake watches and phones, fake paintings and jewelry. Do you seriously think that it is very difficult to glue the shells to the engine? Better ask yourself why there is no water inside the engine.

      @@Alex_Rich I didnt look into it too much! But yes, this could be faked. Although he has a 40 min video that goes through each step of the restoration. Maybe check out that video and see if you change your mind!

    Если бы ты был механиком,то понял бы,что этому двигателю место на помойке,его не реально восстановить,а установка старого маслянного фильтра-это просто шедевр инженерной мыли.Ролик снят конечно интересно,но он только для людей ,которые ничего не понимают технике...

    This guy is amazing and nothing but respect for his abilities . One look at that engine and I was thinking there was no way that would ever run again . He looks like he’s 15 but with as much experience and skill he has he’s probably 55 lol . Hats off to you Sir I can wait to see the finished product .

    so we suppose to just think he rebuilt a diesel engine with no feeler gauge, no torque wrench. and it looks that good. okie dokie. the dude didnt even go with any patterns when tightening anything down. i say it blows or its a fraud

    This guy deserves every sub he gets!
    When I saw that starter motor come apart, I thought “No way he’s getting that to work again!” Let alone the rest of the engine, fuel pump, turbo etc.

    Awesome work.
    But please do yourself a favor and learn what torque sequence is.
    Going straight across the crank, oil pan, and head is a big no no. You will warp or damage parts. It can damage the head gasket.
    You don’t go straight to your torque either you go up in incriminates,
    10-25-40 whatever the case maybe you don’t torque it as soon as you start tightening it

    Замеры зазоров коленчатого вала ? Зачем ? Ведь есть зелёный шнурок и грязная вода. Фрезерование плоскости головки блока цилиндров и самого блока цилиндров ? Зачем ? Есть же наждачная бумага. Динамометрический ключ ? Зачем ? Есть же ключ-трещотка и кусок трубы. Тянуть до характерного хруста.

    Qué fantástico proyecto!! Me encantó desde que te vi empujando tú solo el casco de la lancha, me gusta la mecánica por eso entiendo que la restauración del motor debe haber sido tremendo trabajo y tiempo, sin embargo, escuchar la melodía del sonido cuando arrancó paga todo el esfuerzo, ahora falta solucionar los temas del montaje del motor y ensamblado del casco de la lancha que es también tremendo trabajo de adaptaciones y demás.
    Felicitaciones.
    Me va a ser muy difícil esperar la segunda y probablemente la tercera parte del video.

      El motor está preparado, ya sea que se le da la apariencia de que estuvo mucho tiempo bajo el agua o tiene otro motor, no hay manera de salvar es motor como lo presentó

      He looked at it before he put it in the ocean for a few weeks.
      There's almost no water intrusion into critical areas so it must have been prepared for submersion.

    Absolutely incredible. That boat had been sunk for years, based on the amount of barnicles on everything. Just shows what can be done by a total strip-down, clean and rebuild and one huge amount of work. Looking forward to the next episode.

      Barnacles will attach and start growing within days, based on where he lives i would say that engine has been in the water 2 weeks max. Notice how the inside still had oil and looked clean? If it had been any longer the salt water electrolysis would have started eating into the iron of the crank, rods, mating surfaces making the engine scrap. To be honest, i'm not convinced parts of this havent been faked. There a loads of fake "restoration" vids on YT.

    Restoring the boat down to it's bones is one thing but restoring that engine which prettty much looks like a coral reef is beyond most other mechanics out there.he was not even in a shop which uses fancy tools and brand new parts....A Million THUMBSUP to you.!!!

    Как же я не додумался сразу... Если двигатель не работает, то его нужно просто разобрать и помыть! А турбину вообще не нужно ремонтировать! Поможет та же разборка и мойка! Так вот чем занимаются поголовно все автосервисы! Это те же автомойки, только называются по другому!!!

    If I recall right, the engine rebuild video didn't include the turbo rebuild and installation. Well done. That's going to be a hell of an engine in that little hull, obviously it used an outboard originally. You'll have a rocket boat. You also need to install fuel tank and cooling, that'll take up most of the space you've got.
    Or else build it way up, put a deck over the engine equipment, handrails to prevent falling off, and a forecastle over the deck.
    You've removed one crossbrace in the hull to provide space for the engine, so you should put back another crossbrace, maybe more than that because of the weight which will be much greater than original. I don't know how to anchor those cross braces and provide the necessary strength, you'll have to research on how to do that and essentially rebuild that hull strong enough. If you're installing a deck over the engine, that can perhaps serve as a crossbrace and a place to anchor additional bracing.

    I'm amazed at the level of craftsmanship this guy achieves with the equipment he has available...I mean his taps look like they are in the same shape and the boat engine and they didn't snap off when he used them and I love the cardboard gaskets on the exhaust flanges...EPIC!!!

      It's not cardboard. It's gasket material, you can find rolls of it at a parts store for purpose of cutting out your own gaskets.

    То ли двигатель такой качественный то ли воды лечебные, тут порой в гараже машина постоит и болты ломаются, а на этом двигатели кроме турбины ни одна резьба не закисла, и то уверен болты турбины еще при жизни прикепели, что то тут не так....

    I stumbled on this one from my usual auto revivals. I couldn't stop watching. The enormity of the task here was overwhelming and I wouldn't believe anyone could, or would, undertake such. Curiosity immediately turned to disbelief that the massively corroded engine could be saved. Then watching the process which was extremely well done for video in time lapse made my jaw drop in how bad the engine truly was - and cleaned up in amazing fashion. It appears all parts (save some bolts) were made to be re-used. Even the buggered Garrett turbo! Amazing and I look forward to part 2.

    I was in shock with the first video of the engine being bought back to life with the way it looked and now the turbo was rebuilt and I thought it was a goner for sure but with time, wd-40 and elbow grease anything is possible and the sound of the turbo was just like icing on the cake.
