I hadn't ever considered it not being Ramsay (or actual sickness Ramsay gets misplaced but deserved blame for) but now I have three immediate guesses.
Ramsay: gain power (obvious)
Reek: get buddy into power
Roose: Domeric didn't live down to the family legacy (I really like this know)
Domeric was 7 years far from home.
Then, he came back to this terrible place, the Dreadfort, with his terrible father.
Then, he met with Ramsey.
It would make sense if he simply commited suicide.
Lord Redfort poisoned Domeric with shitty IPAs. His castle is in the most hipster part of Brooklyn and has EXPOSED RED BRICK WALLS, hence his house name
I'm 38 minutes in and I think, rather than being some sorta vampire, Roose could just... Have skinchanger powers. I think it was Varomir Six Skins who mentioned how taking the body of someone who cannot skinchange would essentially trap him inside it. And Ramsey having Roose's eyes could be a hint (from Roose's perspective)that Ramsey can skinchange.
They don't need to be different species for this idea to work is all I'm saying, the internal universe of ASOIAF can support the theory on its own.

Following on from Barbary truths and Roose not wanting Domeric to inherit: maybe Roose suspected that Domeric's actual father was Brandon Stark (think of how Domeric was described, then think about how Brandon and Lyanna were described) but couldn't prove it in any way (same way Tywin says he lets Tyrion be called a Lannister even though he has doubts) so kept him until he found someone he could be sure was his

I have seen Ramsay's mother come up as a suspect before, having killed Domeric to place her son as the next Lord of the Dreadfort, particularly since poison is constantly mentioned as a weapon of cravens, eunuchs, and women.
However, one theory I never see suggested is that Domeric killed himself, albeit accidentally. While not explicit, there seems to be a tendency to see Domeric as less evil, if not just plain good, compared to Ramsay and Roose. What if Domeric was just as bad as his brother and father, and, having heard of his half-brother and potential claimant, he decided to try and poison Ramsay to eliminate his claim.
Ramsay could have pulled the ole switcheroo, and sent Reek in his place, just in case Domeric tried to kill Ramsay outright. Domeric and Reek share some wine, and Reek switched the glasses, causing Domeric to poison himself.
I kinda love this idea. Like with Arthur Dayne there tends to be a fond memory of people who are gone, maybe Domeric was just as awful as everyone else in the family?
@@InterestingNerdClub One major theme of ASOIAF is that history is viewed with rose-tinted glasses, it should be no different for characters fondly remembered by the protagonists and antagonists, such as Arthur Dayne, Domeric, or even Aegon V.

This is cool and it got me thinking, what if the person we know as Ramsay is actually Reek and that's why he keeps Theon the way he does. We never get a good description of how Ramsay smells since Theon/Reek is our perspective.
Roose thinking that was Ramsay and being cool with it makes me think it was not Ramsay.
