LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
This is precisely what’s happened IRL with quantitative easing and cheap money everywhere suddenly having dried up - mad the GRRM has been building the foundations for this for decades - much as this bubble has been growing and growing in our reality. Incredible stuff. Great theory chaps ❤
THANK YOU. It actually does line up with real world events fairly well.
Unironically, I would love a signed print out of the Red Door Theory. (That's the one where you talk about the song right? Cuz that's the one I'm thinking of)
Yeah, that's the Rolling Stones one! Not to be confused with the Simon and Garfunkel one lol.
Yea but tbh you could gave gone so much deeper into this. From top of my head I can remember so much more quotes to strengthen this theory. Did yall continue?
Daenerys stormborn, breaker of (supply) chains
Imagine Cersei having to flee back to Casterly Rock, expecting at least the comfort of wealth in her exile, only to discover that hyperinflation has left the Lannister gold mines virtually worthless.
And then, due to Tyrion's machinations inside Casterly Rock, the plumbing system also experiences inflation.
Best comment.
@@InterestingNerdClub Thanks! This did give me an idea for a Lannister theory. Do you mind if I send it over?
@@Rougarou99 oh my god PLEASE. MORE THEORIES. I'M HUNGRY FOR MORE THEORIES.
@@InterestingNerdClub Thanks! Just sent it.
FINALLY A THEORY THAT CONVERS MY FETISH
There are dozens of us, and our numbers are inflating every day!
Thanks for this contribution SexPope
What have I done
Incredible analysis. Keep this top tier content coming. The breakdown of the Goldenrod Gym Leader and that behemoth who puts the TANK in miltank was researched and academic.
The asoiaf stuff was pretty cool, too.
I hate that miltank more than almost any single person.
ANYONE showing up during this kind of crisis promising they can fix things will have the smallfolk on side faster then they know what to do with. ANY AND EVERY evil person can and will be able to use this to their advantage
EURONPOSTING
microprocessors
They don’t pull you over for 3 over because the defendant can argue about the accuracy of the radar gun. And because the penalty increases for higher speeds. And there are penalty increases for almost every crime 26:05
So glad I could start this on my 15 minute break and only catch the opening quote. It means I don't have to remember anything when I watch the rest later.
I don't think the mines of Casterly Rock drying up is in the books; I think that's a show-only plot point.
OH NO IVE BEEN GOT AGAIN
There's a direct quote from Tyrion when he's Master of Coin where he talks about how wagons and wagons of food are coming from the Reach, yet he'd never seen prices so high.
also, cersei is under the impression that White Harbor is back in the fold. instead the 3rd largest port in the realm is about to go back to Stannis
also, there's a great nugget I recently came across when Littlefinger is talking to the lord's declarant - "I'm still well loved in gulltown"
26:20, I could swear that’s a Bad Dragon exclusive plot point; not positive but I think in the books the mines are doing just fine.
Also the chocolate box roulette bit is very relatable
I'm down a point for Game of Thrones incepting into my mind, but I'm up a point for my good chocolate takes.
This is actually a pretty darn good one. I don't think I've heard much about what "the effects of Cersei's misrule" are beyond she probably gets usurped, but this really seems supported by the text.
It feels really well set up, and very George Martiny lol
No-one on Planetos understands economics. They are driving inexorably toward this. You are dead right. Holy shit.
Competing coins wouldn't contribute to inflation if the coins are actually made out of the metal, since they can always be melted down.
And rural small folk probably don't use money very often.
But yeah, as an economist this tracks.
YES. WE GOT AN 'IT TRACKS'
I'm not sure if I've ever even had one of those chocolate boxes so the bit was unrelatable, but still amusing.
I'm a huge fan of the phrase "unrelatable but still amusing"
Also, the whole Casterly Rock is out of gold thing is show only 43:07
NOOOOOO
Also yeah I would really enjoy buying one or two posters of these insane theories.
Okay, I'll make the pitch. I figure if I'm making some for me why not make more??
Tywin shat out Dany's horse?
Add in that Oldtown is also under siege. No help is coming to Kings Landing.
I think the reason the intro rants are so crucial to plot of these videos. By the time you guys write down the first quote, I have completely forgotten the title and thus I am playing the game too
Phenomenal punctuation
Phenomenal Punctuation could be an alternate title for this show lol
I guessed that casterly rock was dried up and mines out years ago on an early reread, I didn’t watch the show til recently… it might be show bs, but I think it’s not made up, just a case of the show spoon feeding us something grrm directly told the show runners
Aragorn’s tax policy theory let’s go
In Deep Greek already did that, as well as his policy concerning Orcs.
Excellent videos
Haven't finished the video, but, the future for House Lannister doesn't seem bright.
If we consider that Castamere, has been reopened and that silver mines are located there, we could see House Lannister go into a downard spiral
The Baelishflation theory. The city of KIng's Landing is on starvation course, and gold ain't gonna help that. The only parts of Westeros with significant Food Reserves are the Vale- With the Architect of at least part of this whole mess currently as Regent, and The Reach with Tyrells and their currently dubious royalty to the crown. The poor are gonna eat Cersei. Like she will throw gold at them to make them less angry but you can't eat gold so they gonna just eat the rich or something and then Aegon would show up with like a milion wagons loaded with foodstuffs and become beloved Mummer's Dragon
HotD spoiler:
There are sieges of KL in the Dance, and the economics are disastrous. And, perhaps even more importantly, GRRM consciously and explicitly set the economic calamity up and then executed on it. Which indicates that this stuff is on his mind.
And the people who are in charge of KL at certain such points in the Dance are parallelled with Cersei and her crew.
I'm pretty sure the Casterly Rock mines running dry is Bad Dragon Show only.
Oh no I've been got
@@InterestingNerdClub You've been GoT
I just found this channel and I feel at home 🥹
WELCOME TO THE CLUB
I cannot like this video. There's 69 likes. It's already perfectly balanced.
Nice
Littlefinger's debt scheme is so brilliant... they've been growing food all year long for 9 years, so what did LF do with all the food?
I despise chocolate boxes, I'd rather just have one type of chocolate so that bit was very relatable. I also appreciate the Goldenrod Gym analysis. This channel is amazing
Sometimes I still think about that Miltank.
7:46 wait is that... Is that new, in America? Thats been a thing my whole life here in Australia. Like I've never seen an actual mystery box of chocolates in my life
After this and Red Door theory, yeah you might have become my favourite RUclips channel on the entire platform
When you two lock in, you're unmatched by theorists
Not to be narcissistic but I would very much like one of the Tywin centaur theory (among others)
Among us
Amongu ther things
The line about Casterly Rock running dry of gold is from the show only
This is a super fun theory
ITS SO GOOD
This is an amazing theory
THANK YOU
In Deep Geek has a great video about Aragon’s tax policy. And the king of Arnor and Gondor can’t write laws
Oooooooh interesting
My day's alright.
THIS IS FANTASTIC
I’ve barely started hearing this theory but I’m 100 percent convinced
HONESTLY ITS KINDA GOOD
Theory starts at 12:00 on this one
Edit: The theory kinda never starts on this one, it just happens
33:19, it’s going good so far
I kept in the dead air cause I thought it would be funny lol
@@InterestingNerdClub it is!
Great theory, but there is one problem: in a pre-modern society that literally uses gold as money (as opposed to pieces of paper the represent gold, a la the gold standard), the government *can't* print more money, as that requires physical gold -- to expand the money supply, they'd have to dig it up (so the fact that the Lannisters' have run out of gold in their mines *lessens* inflation).
But you are right that prices could rise due to shortages due to the long night. And Littlefinger's debt scheme might cause a severe economic crisis if everyone goes bankrupt because he cooked the books and there is more debt than gold to pay the debts.
This is a great point. Inflation on that kind of scale only starts to happen when a TON of new coinage is minted.
MAYBE. This is lampshaded by Beric's IOU receipts. Maybe Cersei starts printing notes like CRAZY.
i'm too brain-poisoned by the internet, seeing "inflation theory" did not conjure the image it should have.
I understand the folly I've committed lol
Poor ‘ick 😢
Labeling the boxes made forest gumps mothers saying less relatable.
If forestgump was real one of my teachers in midleschool would have been related to him.
YES. YOU DO. YOU NOW KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO GET.
Relatable and pointless. Zac don't dare take it away from me.
I'm putting this in the quotes folder
@@InterestingNerdClub I watched this on the Stairmaster in the gym, so the longer you go off the rails, the fitter I get
@@jemmerson8826 Oh no. We did a 4 hour video yesterday I hope you have your running shoes lol
Honestly I think I'd love having a poster or two of the theory endstates.
Also, I think with the "chalkboard" stuff you should maybe lower the opacity but keep it up the whole time? Or only erase what you HAVE to.
Also are you planning on writing/drawing it all every time? If I were you I'd save an image file of the BG and just add to it when you get new patrons
And maybe Tom should write it... He has a stylus, lol
I have brought up all of these points and we're workshopping them. To be honest I didn't expect anyone to subscribe so this is what we're working with for rn lol
Also I've been curious about that for a little while! Zac and I can talk about it if people would like them!
The joke did in fact work for me
Had me busting out laughing at work and now I’m getting weird looks thanks guys 😂
@@nicktompkins9258 I'm really glad that was for someone, I worked really hard on it lol
grrms ultimate inflation kink extravagnza (new theory title)
When we do a theory roundup this will definitely be the title
As someone who would have to deal with the slight oversight of crossing the Atlantic to geotag @zacfromtheclub, I would absolutely buy a poster.
That's what I'm saying. We can't all be in dang Philadelphia lol
