    The newer bearing service kit comes in a black box. When I got mine, the box was red. The contents look the same and you can find similar ones many places.

    Hi Maq's Vids, I just wanted to thank you for taking the time and effort to share your journey towards improving your Mk IV Jetta/Gold rear suspension with the YT DIY community - that was a lot of work and I really appreciate the money that you saved us and explain to us the fitting of all the various components. May God bless you, Ciao, L (Veteran)

      You are very welcome. Thank you so much for your comment. It really means a lot. I enjoy working on cars and it has always been therapeutic for me. Making these videos helped me get through the quarantines of 2020. And I'm glad it has helped you.

      @@MaqsVids Hi Maq's Vids - This is/was the least I could do after all the time you invested in sharing your knowledge with the community. Have a nice weekend, Ciao, L

    This video helped me understand exactly how the stub axle is removed and installed. This looks much easier than I originally thought. I plan on doing the same level of maintenance on my MKIV GTI. In addition to all of the work you did, I may also sand blast the axle beam and have it powder coated black. I would also like to rebuild and paint the brake calipers. The brake lines will likely also be replaced due to their age. The one step I will perform differently is the removal of old bushings. Instead of burning them out, I will get a handheld drill and repeatedly drill holes in the rubber until it's so weak that it can be pressed out by hand. Thank you for making this video.

    Do you know the part number for those rear dust shield bolts?

  • @1wisestein
    @1wisestein 3 года назад +2

    Wow, it looks like you can't change the dust shields without unsealing and removing the wheel bearing. Not ideal. In my case what you could refer to as the dust shields better resemble a washer-plate for the bolts. Thanks for the great vid!

    I checked out your video, very detailed! Thanks. Question: do you know if those bushings will fit my 2.0 GLS? I looked at Energy Suspension and the part number they have is 15-3118 but the one at your link is 15-3118G. Any difference between those? Thanks.

    • @MaqsVids
      @MaqsVids  Год назад

      Thanks!! It looks like the Amazon link has 15.3118G as the black and 15.3118R as the red ones. I went back and checked my order to make sure and I ordered the 15.3118R. They should fit.

    Shouldn't the hub nut be staked?

    • @MaqsVids
      @MaqsVids  2 года назад

      Hi Will! The nut goes beyond the outermost thread. It's can't be staked. I guess VW figured the proper torque is good enough.
