    I always thought it's an addictive gene (addiction). I can form a 'habit', very quickly. Easy to start, hard to stop. Thanks so much for your wisdom.

    Thank you fir this video. I’ve realised from watching this video that I am covering up my shame for my failures with my addiction to food and alcohol.

    Apparently I listened to this 10 months ago! This morning, Alex's question at about 14+ minutes was as if she was reading my mind for me!! I don't think I would have caught this without having done some deep inquiry over several months. You see I 'attributed' my '3 lies' on the "incident' as an adult. I see now that as I continue to 'replay the incident' and 'blame the incident' I am actually recreating myself as a vicitm and I CCJ myself secretly which leads me to want to 'avoid' so I go to my bad habit of choice to 'stop the thinking' and have fun! David, 'the minefield' illustration resonates with me and I am eager to do GTP, slowly 'deactivate those distracting mines', and be more grounded in my Shen! 🌷 Thank you both so much!!

      Hi @cybermom41,
      It's truly remarkable to hear about your journey of deep inquiry and the insights you've gained along the way. Recognizing how you've attributed your '3 lies' to a particular incident and seeing the pattern of recreating yourself as a victim is a profound step toward transformation. Your willingness to confront these patterns and your desire to shift toward a more grounded presence in your Shen spirit are inspiring.
      The minefield illustration is indeed a powerful metaphor for the internal challenges we face and the process of deactivating those 'mines' to move forward with clarity and peace. I'm thrilled that you're eager to undertake the GTP (Grounded Transformation Practice) and approach this with a thoughtful and steady pace.
      Your openness and commitment to your growth are commendable, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a part of your journey. Remember, each step, no matter how small, is a move towards greater understanding and harmony within yourself.
      Thank you for sharing your experience and reflections with us, and please know we are here to support you every step of the way.
      Kind Regards,
      David

    thankyou both, this is so helpful. your sharing and expanding on case situations helps one to identify. Its less helpful to attack oneself for the addiction and more benefit to tease out core issue, love this. feels far more compassionate for sure❤🙏

    David, you are absolutely right about dealing with the underlying problem, before addressing the addiction. Very quickly, let me explain. I had severe eczema as a child, and was covered in bandages and tied down in bed at night, to stop me damaging myself. In my twenties I experimented with drugs and found methadone really helped. I told the doctor this, and he said, ‘we must get off the drugs ‘. Not, let’s see why you’re taking it. I never understood this. What dyo think ?

    I respond emotionally. I think it's from my childhood, being on guard for my well being 24/7. I think I am familiar with emotions of being protective of myself. Just became aware of it. Looking at it, will work on it. Thank you.

I had severe eczema as a child, and was covered in bandages and tied down in bed at night, to stop me damaging myself. My eczema didn’t get any better and In my twenties I experimented with drugs and found methadone really helped. I hadn’t realised how depressed I was and it calmed my mind, plus it helped with the pain. I told the doctor this, and he said, ‘we must get you off the drugs ‘. Not, let’s see why you’re taking it. Have you discussed IFS in your videos? In this video, you describe being in the "Wu Wei" like being in "Self" in the Internal Family System approach. Excellent video.

    👍👍Hi. Thanks for this.
    Is it that the young child is faced with the Void of isolation? ( an unhealthy vision for a young child ). Is the " Cope " ideation through distraction, TV, earphones, alternate lifestyles and personal repetitive cycles of behaviour as an alternate secure structure?

    • @WuWeiWisdom
      @WuWeiWisdom  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hi @TimCCambridge,
      Your insight is quite perceptive. Yes, the young child often faces a sense of void or isolation, especially in environments that aren't emotionally nurturing. The coping mechanisms you've mentioned, like distraction through TV, earphones, and repetitive behaviors, can indeed be ways to create a sense of security or escape. Recognising these patterns is a crucial step in understanding and ultimately resolving these deep-seated issues. It's wonderful to have you in our Wu Wei Wisdom community, where such insightful discussions can help everyone involved.
      Kind Regards,
      David

    Hey guys
    Once you have an understanding of the issue in your childhood and address the inner child and operate from your adult side things get so much better
    However my inner child will pop up sometimes out of nowhere
    Is this going to be something to deal with for life?

    • @WuWeiWisdom
      @WuWeiWisdom  2 года назад +3

      Great question Sammy. Your inner child is part of you (a part of your mind), so it will always be present, but ideally in an emotionally balanced way. The more inner child work and reparenting you do, the more the inner child will trust you and take a back seat and allow the 'adult' you to take the lead. So this means its emotional extremes will become less frequent and less extreme. If it does pop up, you could positively reframe this with the question 'OK, what is my inner child bringing to my attention here?... what have I got to learn here?' x
