- Today I show you guys how you should tint your tail lights and how you shouldn't. Originally I was just going to do both of them the right way but decided to have a little fun with it and do one with plastidip. Enjoy!

Bobby is literally breaking a sweat from shaking a rattle can
Advance auto always has VHT. I did my taillight 8 years ago and they still look perfect. I did 3 coats and 3 coats of clear. No wet sanding, no buffing, no bubbles.
How long would it take to dry for each coat?
@@dylanvedia6705 I don't exactly remember. Not long. Just follow the directions on the can. It's not hard
I was about to do this and wanted to do it right with the clear for lasting results but was worried about the sanding portion. So glad you did it the right way and I have something to go off of. My off roading Xterra I wasn't so worried about fucking up on but my new Explorer I definitely wanted a flawless victory. Great content man, keep it up.
I'm going to be honest man,I don't think anybody ever thought about Plasti-Dipping their tail lights. If there's that one guy out there that actually thought about doing it,I hope he turns his license into the first DMV he sees.
D F it's not uncommon. You can do it without having such diffuse results shown here, but it's still not a good idea. Tinting your tail lights in general is stupid. Don't do it.
Brett Anderson I agree.I'm more of a function over cosmetics type of person myself. If it's ugly but performs well,I'm all for it.Tinting tails looks nice on certain vehicles, but a light shade would be the only way I would do it.
D F I platidipped mine and yeah I guess you can say it's stupid or whatever but it barely makes it dimmer at night but looks great in the sunlight. To each their own I guess
Brett Anderson nothing wrong with a tinted tail light if done right
D F I do agree, but I also think there are circumstances when it's acceptable. The stock 2011 Mustang tail lights are bright as fuck, borderline blinding. (NOT the tail lights with the black square insides) You'd kind of be a dumbass not to lightly darken those, for everyone's safety.
cant say "fuck" in the recordings, but you can play uncensored rap. mmmk
Some classic one liners in here bobby. I actually LOL a few times. Keep it up.
because you're funny as hell, you've earned a new sub my dude!
Dude you crack me up, I thought I was going to hate it but you made me laugh my ass off. Keep it up.
Tail lights aren’t even that bad but the wheels have got to go asap😂😂
Nice seeing you doing vids like this bobby!
One of your best videos yet Bobby! Laughed alot
great video bobby. You should do more tutorials like this.
The best way to apply VHT is to open up the tail light housing and spray lightly from the inside onto the clear housing. This preserves the glossy finish and makes it look like film.
You make me want to redo my tail lights because dam the night shade tail light looks so good
been using this stuff for years! had it on my 08ms3 for 3 years and it didn't fade at all. if you follow the directions, its worth the money.
Great video Bobby, nice job.
that nightshade works great, never seen it used before. Double thumbs up
You got a new subscriber here!! Awesome video. I like how you hardly ever smile
Content is getting better Bobby, good job. I think you're getting into the groove! Keep up the good work. And where the fuck is Max!
Wow the VHT looks awesome, nice work.
The plasti doesn’t look as bad as I thought it would, but VHT is way better for sure.
I wish I could do that in California but I would get pulled over as soon as I leave the drive way
Nice thanks for the demo!!! I was curious how to darken my taillights for my Dodge Ram.
I tried Nite Shades on my amber front turn signals and found it impossible to get an even shade with out going darker than I wanted. " Plasti-Kote" (not Plasti-Dip) seems to be lighter in the pigmentation in some videos I've watched. I'm going to try it as soon as I can find some. I want to shade a strip of chrome also but I want the chrome to show through.
BTW- I bought my Nite Shades at Advance Auto. The guy working said they didn't have it, even though the web site said they did. I needed some self etching primer also and found the Nite Shades while looking for the primer. Good video, great humor.
yo! you are hilarious... i love the comparison... i used the same 2 products for tail lights and yes the VHT is so much better.
that edit of you removing your tailights compares to the best Rocky out there. mad love from Cleveland
I'm definitely gonna tint the taillights and connected spoiler lip on my 4g eclipse, it looks pretty good in the video
I don't understand why people come here just to talk shit. It's simple for you to leave and never come back so the real fans can enjoy the fucking content. I swear people just bitch now days just to bitch. Anyways nice video and hope to see more soon.
+Derp Derpington Agreed man.
They wanna get on a hate comments video.
Some people actually know what they're talking about and choose to correct mis-beliefs and mis-information. Some people don't actually know that plastidip sells tail light spray that lets light through...assume people are spraying their lights with stuff that's totally blocking the light..
I totally agree
not sure
New to the channel...nics to see another Titans fan
The first RUclipsr who knows how to lay on some spray can! Good sweeps. I returned a can of that peel coat (around the same time of this video) because I thought the can was deffective. It doesn't tint worth shit!
Did not think that would work Plasti Dipping your tail lights. All in all it was fun watching this video and I laughed at the part when you was rubbing the back of the truck slow. Then you creep with Panda remix....... you good bro keep it up.
hell yeah Bobby
Nice vid Bobby I usually go to pep boys not sure if you have one up there.
Even there are a lot of toxic comments on some of your videos but tbh I did like your work, keep it up bro! you deserve a subscribe!👍🏼
Love the TITANS decals bro I want to get some like that for my Nissan Titan
I used that to tint my taillights it looks really good and is easy af to spray on just make sure you don't over spray 😉
I’ve learned the hard way on nite shade two medium coats is all ya ever need other wise it’ll be to dark an ya get stopped by the cops a lot. Also if ya sand an polish your tail lights prior to spraying ya could avoid having to clear coat an sand them like an it’ll be glossy an look like a factory tinted tail light just makes sure ya do the second coat in the flash window so basically wait bout 15 mins after ya sprayed your first coat do your second medium coat an it’ll be perfect. I’ve played with that stuff a lot An that’s been probably the best finish I’ve seen is doing it that way
Thats came out badd ass! Nice Job!
Is your girlfriend single?
Rykedrick Williams reread that
Rykedrick Williams if she is his girlfriend then why would she be single
Alberto Magallon you did NOT get the joke
Alberto Magallon it's a joke bud lol
Sister*
Good video, Bobby:)
I have mine Plastidip.Did 3 coats of black then put Glossifier on them .They look completely black but the tail lights shine through very good.I live in N.C. and come inspection time i can just peel it off they will not pass tinted tail lights or head lights.Wouldn't mind another set of tail lights and use the night shades on them.
Loved the video though.
You've got a great sense of humour.
Good Vibes bro. I like your don't give a shit attitude. But still informative at the same time. Keep it up I've liked and subscribed and I did click on the gray bell. LOL
Thanks man, I gonna go with the VHT nightshades
Say bro, I was feelin you with those cookie grabs. =) You made me go out and get some too.
Love the Titans decals...Titan up!!
Funny AF nice work sir!
Definitely a great video!
This dude funny af😂😂
Yells at guy for cussing doesn’t want demonetized proceeds to play song with cussing
That's panda part was sick bro. I like
Awesome video. Made me smile.
I have one of these daytonas as well! Mines a quad cab tho. I wanna smoke my tails and cargo lamp as well just not this dark. I like a light smoke
That wig is effin funny bobby haha
Good shit!!! I like the Matt finish of the dip it goes better with the spoiler finish but the haziness of the bulbs isn’t a good look. The knight shade illuminated clearly.
Nicely done!
Dude, you're a riot! Keep up the videos, love em.
Night shade for the win
great tip. very nice rice truck
Informative and ENTERTAINING! 😂
Oh shit! I just now heard you talk about rubbing compound. Dude, I was laughing my ass off!
I just wouldn't want to tint any of my lights tbh, years ago I just used to wrap some tights around them for a temporary change then pulled over just rip them like you a savage
Great job buddy 👍🏻
Subscribed tf up after crackin up from seeing the clip with the wig on
great video. Like, really well done, funny, and great conclusion. Thanks.
Great vid man, plan on tenting my fronts and backs. Never thought of the plastidip way🤔🤔 looks ugly anyways 😂
Any way you could show what the VHT looks like at night? Great video man I think I'll do this to my Dodge. I've never found tail lights that I liked.
This video was hilarious 😂
Love the video, thank you sir!
I've never really cared for tinted headlights and taillights because they effect the performance of the lights, something I've always thought actually looked better and similar without effecting the performance of the lights is housings that have clear lenses with a black backdrop in them
Nightshade looks nice 👍🏼
The plasti dipped taillight looks like the faded wing and Daytona stripe on the side. Go with the smooth finish
I was thinking the same on that truck with the faded wing and stripe the plastidipped taillight looked like it was meant for that truck!
thank you for doing the side by side comparison, I agree, plastidip is not recommended on any light emitting surface.
The VHT fades after a while of being in the sun. Have used it on four of my vehicles. Some people like the flat black look and if they don't plastidip also sells glossifier
And to the people who don't know, plastidip ALSO sells a tail light spray that lets light through. I've never used the plastidip but I've seen it used and know for a fact they have tail light spray.
Have used VHT on every vehicles tail lights and marker lights me and my wife have had , Love the stuff but never sanded it just cleaned them real good and put 3-4 coats
Sick content man new subscriber
Plasti dip tail lights I honestly thought it wouldn't even work. I've used the nite-shade many times before and it's amazing stuff. I find an even tack coat then 1 heavy coat is all ya need if your just looking to black them a little and remove the in your face bright red lenz look ya get on standard tail lights, without completely blacking them out like you did. cos as you would of noticed as it dries it darkens slightly (As do most colours). I was also gonna say why clear coat them when nite-shade is basically just tinted clear coat that has a high gloss finish. But then you sanded and polished them and it all made sense. Good idea when your after a show room finish.
You're supposed to add PlastiDip clearcoat on top of the Smokey, matte finish. That way you'll get the same finish as the way overworked VHT without sanding. 😄
Ill say that I think the vhc night shade does look better, but I plasti dipped my tail lights. If you do it right, it looks a lot better than what is on the right taillight. Your supposed to do 1 or 2 light coats of black and then spray the glossier over it for the rest of the coats. I went with it because it was cheap, easy, I can peel it off if necessary, and I wanted to see how it would work anyway. Been using it for over a year now and still held up great too.
if you VHT niteshade your tail lights, you should tape off the backup lights. So you can, you know, see when you back up.
That sanding was probably the most cardio bobby has done in a week
😂😂 you got a sub, love the cussin
I applied the VHT and it's awesome, but of course it's a risk getting pulled over in Texas lol
Clean Up Nice Mobile Detail & Services been pulled over yet?
Plastidip4lyfe good video man
One bolt...one cookie...rinse...repeat! Awesome!
This may be from 3 years ago but shit you should post some more man these vids are awesome
Great comparison video
TITAN UP!
Wow, looks great
This was informative, and hilarious! Also, I suggest some wheels. I don't know what they're called, but look up "Roadkill Dirt Track Challenger" and check out the wheels on the final product.
Dude says no cussing then puts a song that says the f-bomb 500 times ! 😂😂😂
I like the way the VHT came out makes those lights look a lot better !!
The panda scene 👌🏻
good vid man,
Broo i love the video the content. Thank you sir for how to work qith the VHT
really nice truck and im not usually a big truck guy
" Pleanty bright" ya for pitch black night out in the hills with Billy, in the day time both those tail lights are almost neds. Maybe fix the LEDs in your tail light before you make them even harder to see.
