Hi Mark, after some serious surgery having been a keen leisure cyclist, I was lent a cheap e bike with Chinese bafang motor. I reluctantly bottomed it poo pooing e bikes some 5 yrs ago at 61. I could not believe it. Within a week I was cycling 35 miles a day and my foot and leg surgery ( non motorcycle related😂) rehabilitated very quickly. Some of my friends already had them but much more expensive brands. I ended up buying the bike I borrrowed a volt alpine. Everyone laughed at my “inferior choice”. Yes the suspension is rubbish but I changed for some chunky tyres and I have been everywhere they go on group rides. Nothing serious but certainly off road and up and down very steep gnarly hills. I cant jump the bike, it just wont do it. Out of all the bikes with Bosch, yamaha and browse motors mine is the only bike whose motor hasn’t had fault. It s done 10k miles now, so I bought another 2nd hand. Those Bafang motors are tried and tested. The first bike is borrowed by a daughter if they visit. This bike at a grand looks right up my street for what I do though somewhat ugly. I will never spend 4-5 grand on an e bike which seem to be very tempremental with electronics. Love all these reviews on the e bikes as well as motorcycles, and confirms to me dont need to overspend. The only thing I have had to replace is a bearing in the rear but not the motor but the wheel itself. I’ve done 3k on the new one a volt pulse which is more road orientated but I reallly abuse it and has never done less than 35 miles on a battery. The older one still does 25 miles on the original battery which is probably 10 yrs old. Loved the 2 stroke 250 the other day reallly stirred my menories of my most enjoyable biking days. 66 now.
I have never adjusted the gears either. Brake pads many sets. I am 6’1” non adjustable seat would be that a problem?

Thanks for the great comment ....I've got haibike emtb plus numerous Chinese e bikes never had a problem with any of the Chinese ones like you say the motors are very reliable

Wow that thing is putting out around 4 times as much torque as my wife’s Yamaha 125…..To be legally classed as an EAPC and therefore be legal under UK e-bike laws, the maximum power output from the pedal-assist motor can't be more than 250 watts. 750w e-bikes can be used on private land or with an electric bike licence.

Can i legally ride this on the road? If i stick to 15 mph or is it a def no,I find the whole ebike thing confusing
It's a grey area ...you could just set the speed limit to 15 mph
Cyrusher sell UK legal 750 w bikes which are limited to 15 mph

Here in Luton/Dunstable I see loads of similar ebikes around so I hope they not gonna bother me.
Been riding eachother for two and a half years and never been bothered by the police so hope they not gonna harass me.
