Love this! I was 16 and loving all the new music. I think it's super awesome that you loved this song back then. Most adults didn't get the 80s music, but you did! Rock-on!
@@anniebus105 And I STILL get '80s music. Actually I get some of 2020's music as well. Just a music freak, I guess. I expect to live to my mid 90's based on how long my other family members have so you can count of me groovin' to "Escalator of Life," when I'm 95. Maybe I'll be calling it "Escalator of Death," by then though!
I was 11 when I watched this on the television, older brother recorded it the night before on our beta max machine and I could not get enough of Hazard! Mom hated his hair! LOL! I love this!
When I was a kid my stepdad was robert hazards drummer...right before this song made it big. Something about the record guys only wanting robert ...but anyway i still love this song and miss the old days hanging in old warehouses watching them practice..my stepdads best friend was the bass player for beru revue john sax...miss the old days !
Went to see Robert Hazard at the Glass Mug in Ardmore... Between sets I go to the men's room and use the urinal. Two guys walk up and use the urinals on either side of me. To my left is Robert Hazard and to my right is Michael Tierson WMMR DJ.
Anyone else notice when he said "There's 111 Choices" and held up 3 fingers? This was a guy who thought things through. People mostly dont know he wrote "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and either sold or gave the demo to Cyndi Lauper. He was a good song writer and a veteran in the game. RIP.
Was then and still reside in South Jersey, and this was prominently featured on the local rock stations WMMR, WYSP etc. East coast was privy to this song before it got universal airplay. Same with the Hooters (who coincidentally also wrote a hit song for by cindy Lauper) man what a blast of memories. Id love to go back in time to that era, because when your living it real time, you dont have a chance to quantify its significance.....its just happening. But my older self now longs for that time and places in my life. Literally - "those were the days" RIP Robert Hazzard
American Bandstand was on Broad street in Philly. The music scene from the 50's to 2000 was vibrant (The Sound of Philadelphia TSOP) was uniquely different from NY, LA or Detroit and was a blend of many different cultures and local bands played everywhere. Sadly all good things come and go and the Philly music scene is only a memory.....but what good times there were and I will never forget them.
I worked at South Shore Auto World. We had a used Mercedes Benz that was up in years. He and is wife came in to buy it. I warned him that there was no warranty, or guarantee of state inspection. He didn’t care. He had the same car in the 80s and he wanted that car. He and his wife were classy people.
The only Philadelphia band that I ever liked. I was 18 when this record came out. This guy lived near me when I lived in New Jersey. My brother who plays guitar, auditioned for Robert’s band which came after this one. He is a great guitarist, but didn’t get the gig because they told him they didn’t like his look.
I was Robert's road manager and definitely remember that show. The night before, we played an amazing gig at Bloomsburg State College. I was driving Robert to Doylestown. He was asleep on the backseat. I came to a fast stop and Robert hit the floor. Thankfully, we laughed about it for the next 25 years...
Yoooo...thanks for this! I kept finding the song..but not the video....this will do. This song was a fav..and not everyone remembers it... I sure do!!!
I saw them play@ the Cardamone's "Tap Room" in Ambler, PA '82 & they were fantastic, with an even better performance, lighting & effects than shown here.

lol I was 19 and now 56 This is A classic! Nothing like the late 70's and Early to mid 80's music!

Feburary 14th 1985 Tower theater, Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, Robert Hazard ,with Joan Jett, the Hooters, was a great concert.

They kicked ass and set the Philly scene up for work. Jc dobbs was my Tuesday night hang. Philly up in here!
..and "The TROCadero Theater" ! 🤘 🐩 ..and "The T.L.A." ! 😀
Rest in Peace. Sometime in the 80's, I saw Robert Hazard and his band perform live at the Chestnut Cabaret. This was a fantastic show!!
Amazingly awkward but awesome 👌!
@@chrismcdonough5877 Thanx!

I have loved this song for over 30 years!!!
Saw him and the hazards at the Crist Inn and Shady Lane in nj. Would travel from bucks county just to see him and the Hooters! Fond memories...
Wow! He played Shady Lane? I only ever saw him at a club called The Penalty Box? at the shore.
I loved it when it came out and it still stands up all these years later
singing with cigarette between fingers. Imagine today...
no way!!
Today it would be a vape pen lol

I don't remember it being on Broad St. It was on a east/west street near Market.
Such a cool song! My mom introduced me to RH and the Heroes! Old school Philly Rock n Roll!

Still Have his Album in my collection. Went to see him perform at Del Val College in Doylestown when I was junior high school.
Me too.
I was there too cbwest class of 84
I saw him at JFK stadium along with Blondie, Flock of Seagulls, Elvis Costello, and Genesis all in one show.

@@gojump7 .... So was I... Great song from the past
This is tight! Thanks for the post!!
"South Philly Bowie and the Cars" LOL!
A great Song!
Heard this classic years after it was released but looking back...was it based on the excesses of the 1980's?
Simply the best.
Philly!!!
Miss Robert Hazard.... #localPhillymusic
Boy feeling good.
Roland Jupiter 8!! Woohoo!!!
Yo I loved Robert Hazard
AB was awesome.
"You can have your cake and Edith baby! RIP Robert.

just like Sinatra
Great song. Brings back memories.
But somebody I know called it 'punk' and I kinda wanna slap her for that....
.... This was in no way shape or form punk rock.... this is New Wave music....
Did lemmy sing back up?
Up more videos american bandstand
The good old days when you could smoke on stage without getting tens of thousands of letters from angry, kid-centric freak parents.
Mullets...lol
What kind of keyboard is this?
Roland Jupiter 8 on top.
A great song that is undercut by Robert's haircut and over the top theatrics.
This was the year 1983, ..the same one that brought us The Romantics 💋 "One In A Million" video, ..and their amazing pompadour hairstyles ! 👨🦱 😆
1983? The autotune.... the sound..... the presence .... quite punk-ish and new wave.... it is 2022 now... sounds a schmidgen dark wave.

The cigarette he smokes on stage is quite ironic for someone who would later die of cancer.
only ironic had he passed from lung cancer
+J High No more ironic than your worthless self-righteous observation
that's pretty rare for someone to smoke on stage. Andrew Dice Clay did it, and robert hazard is the only lead singer to do it, am i correct?
David Bowie always smoked on stage
leonakita He died of cancer also.
I remember when this song came out and it was a hit but this is an atrocity what lip syncing garbage is this.....
