The nicest band I've ever had the pleasure to hang out with backstage! They all were so friendly and accommodating after playing a sold-out show here in San Francisco on the "Cosmic Thing" tour. Ricky, of course was no longer here. They kept giving me beer after beer and they just liked talking to me and my partner, Louie that night. They signed my CD, which was kind of a novelty back in the day because a bunch of people had them signing their 12 inch album! The fact that I brought my CD with me seemed to really amuse them (CD's were still very new at the time)! My backstage pass is still plastered on my CD! Super nice people!!!
Man… that would be cool, especially since they drank with you. I like A LOT of music, across various genres, but if I could sell my soul to spend 1 evening hanging out & drinking with one musician/band, hand down B52’s. Man that would be so awesome.
What a great experience. I’m glad they were good people. It’s always disappointing when some name or another turns out to be rude/ lecherous/ racist/ sexist in person; that behavior is somehow more offensive coming from someone who’s had every advantage thrown at them.
Hi. I'm Sarah and I am a Taurus and I just learned how to play this song on my piano keyboard just by playing around with the keys without a music sheet. :)
fun? the message in this song is deeply serious - "future generation, you were created without love, on the shallowest of reasons, by a generation of idiots. good luck."
Amazing vocals at the end to have Kate and Cindy singing lower than the Guys in the band. But that's what they would do is break down barriers. Genius.
Love it! The greatest duo female vocals in history, as exemplified by this tune and Love Shack. Cyndi is so agile, defined, and quaint, while Kate has body and power.
I was skeptical when I first heard about tomatoes and black-capped chickadees, but it has since become one of my favorite dishes. The tomatoes really help to bring out the chickadees’ flavor. Thanks, Kate!
+Jon Z Glen I've seen them 3xs I think. Last time in Myrtle Beach at House of Blues. I waited with some other fans near their your bus. HELL YES. There are only a handful of bands that are so monumentally original that they pretty much break the mold from anyone ever trying to sound like them. (the doors, the moody blues, the sisters of mercy, clutch, mr. bungle, etc) You CANNOT LISTEN TO THE B-52S AND HAVE A BAD TIME. It is just impossible.

Ricky was my biggest celebrity crush ever. I loved their music the first time I heard Rock Lobster my freshman year of college in 79. I was totally devastated when Ricky died. It still makes me very sad whenever I think of him.
This song and Legal Tender were on moderate rotation on MTV back when they were both new. Believe it or not, I knew these two songs before earlier ones like Rock Lobster and Private Idaho.
It's impossible to be in a bad mood when this song is on 😁 My two favorite moments are Cindy's "biography" and Kate kicking off her shoe when she's on the swing. This and the video for Legal Tender, I swear Kate is channeling Connie Stevens.
What a cool idea! Each band member introduces themselves with their name and other information about them. How unique and forward thinking of the group to do that. Their songs always put me in a good mood.
Is it? It feels like they're making fun of pop music actually. It's a trope. And it's very random nearly all of them say they're pices and their favorite food. It's just random silliness. I wouldn't call that forward thinking or even unique. Funny sure.
