I don't usually comment on videos like this, but I just got my Logitech Pro today in the mail after watching this a few days ago. I have been previously playing on the CSL DD 8nm with the Podium F1 and CSL V2 pedals. My CSL DD has been having some connectivity issues (exactly what Tiametmarduk - Ben had) and I know Logitech is renowned for their attention to detail. I launched G-Hub which was all new to me and tinkered with some settings. I then launched F1 22 just to get a feel for the wheel and pedals, and I was unbelievably surprised. In fact, I love this bundle so much that I'm just returning my CSL DD and selling my wheel/pedals (they're literally already on the market). Playing ACC just sold it all.
Now for context, I'm in the top 1% (p30-p80) of all Time Trial tracks on F1 22 and play with 110% AI, so I'm very experienced and actually want to start a channel or competing professionally. Nevertheless, the one track that I have always struggled with is Suzuka. I don't know why. My brain just puts up a block to it. Monaco I'm ranked P12, Suzuka I was P80. It's ridiculous. I immediately went to it, put my setup on, and shaved .872ths off my lap time on my third time around. You feel literally everything in a way that my Fanatec couldn't even register. Going through the 'S' Curvers, and especially Degner and Spoon (where I lost the bulk of my time), I was immediately smiling. I've adjusted my pedals, but otherwise, straight out of the box, it's incredible. You can actually feel the car sink in dips, rise over crests, lean into the corners, scrape the ground, you can feel the oversteer before it actually snaps as if you're actually in the car, and I've been able to run setups far more on the nose (naturally quicker) because I'm comfortably on the edge constantly. You actually *feel* the weight of the car, including weight transfer. Obviously it's not perfect. Nothing is. It is bulky, so I could see that being an issue for shorter people (I'm 6'8"/203.2cm so it doesn't bother me). All of this is to say that I'm very impressed, and I seriously hope that they come out with a GT/F1 wheel QUICK. On some tracks, I haven't shaved off much time, but the feeling is just incredible. This will hands down be my setup moving forward into the future.
I know that it's weird hearing a good review, but this was worth every penny. It comes with a two year warranty too, so yeah, it's expensive, but it will last and with the detachable wheels, 11nm, and adjustable pedals, you'll never have to buy another one again. Seriously. This outclasses Fanatec for the same price, and that's saying something. Bravo Logitech.

I just ordered mine yesterday, I'm on console (waiting to build a PC) so my choices where limited. Trying to get the fanatec gt bundle 5 or 9nm was sold out(forever). So after hearing about this I checked it out. And like most ppl I started with my wheel n shifter being a G923 for the last 4yrs. So at 11nm it wasn't 2 much or 2 little. Not sure this is for me but this thing will sell like hot cakes. What many people are not considering is the quality and support that Logitech brings to the table. There is a huge market for a wheel that is plug and play right out of the box, reliable AND works with console. For many this will be a no brainer despite the price.

I paid 1700 CAD for a Logitech Pro wheel and pedals about 14 months ago. And would do it again no questions asked. Every time I want to play it works. Software issues - none. And when I need customer support, I imagine it will be leaps and bounds better than Fanatec. Which, from what I've read, is a nightmare.

  • @TwoIrresponsibleGamers

My general view on the whole unit is this: If it was priced 750-900 euro for wheelbase + rim + pedals, sure.
But 1.500 euro? You could buy a CSL DD + the new V2's and a good rim, and still have money left.
I think they are really going to piss of some of their loyal customers with this, and I really hope I am wrong. The pricing is just bonkers, which just taints the view of the whole unit.
Which in itself is a shame, because it looks like it is pretty decent. Other than being sooooo massive in size.
And also worth mentioning, great review again Laurence! Good shots, and honest opinions.

And at the time thrustmaster still didnt have their wheelbase out, that they announced mid 2021 to be released at the end of 2021 and instead all we got was a 5 part announcement starting in january of february of this year with it coming to an end in mid 2022 to finally just ANNOUNCE the final release of their wheelbase, which at that point is just a total joke to me.

12:18 What this means is it has a high slew rate for a motor of the same torque range. This translates into a high jerk rate (which is the rate of change in acceleration with respect to time). This is what's inherently better about DD wheels over belt/gear driven ones. Sounds like they've just taken it another level with the motor in question.

I'd hold off on Logitec DD just because of brand loyalty. This product smells of disingenuous facelifting to bolster their true moneymaker, the G920 for a few more years until they roll out their true DD products. They just don't want to look like they're falling behind Fanatec, Moza, Camus, Thrustmaster and the like. So they roll out something small volume and very outpriced with the guise of super quality. If I had money to invest, it might be a good risk to buy the complete set and keep it sealed and unopened. It might go up in value when it becomes a forgotten blip in history.

am i right in thinking true force and how it works would not be technically limited to the logitech hardware, particularly for direct drives which as we know all have the ability to respond fast and give any range of frequency outputs... like for example some wheelbases are so quick they can make sounds without the need for speakers of any kind so in theory isnt true force and what it does possible on all wheelbases, more so direct drives, just ofcourse it would need to be programmed in like a canned effect i guess. can i ask you as somebody with it what the difference is between true force and its engine effect vs something like raceroom with its canned engine and gear change effects. Also i know you touched on this being possible through something like simhub but a little expansion on the difference and if you think its possible on all hardware would be great.

I mean Logitech curently has 0 ecosystem for this base. No formula rims, no rally rims, no open GT rims. Just the stock one with a QR that may come in handy later down the line. The pedals are just weird. They should be almost as good as the V3s judging by their price but they seem to fall short. And where is the rest of the periphery? Where's a shifter and a handbrake? Price wise, the best bang for buck is the G29 that was recently on sale for $199. As far as best wheel overall, that probably be the fanatec podium series, but that's like $1200 just for the base I believe. Budget friendly direct drive would be the fanatec gt dd base bundle with the pedals at 5nm ffb, once you factor in the boost 180 kit to bring it to 8nm ffb, upgrade the pedals and add the load cell, etc, your pushing $1000 bundle price before tax and shipping. The logitech pro bundle is just a little bit more then that, in stock, and offers better support and service for me in the US, so I went with them. Ordered and shipped same day, be here new years eve. With the discounts I used, I purchased each item separately and it came to a total of $848.92 for the pedals and wheel base. I used a student discount from my kid lol, wasn't supposed to work but did, and then it also stacked with the new years 23 discount, and also stacked with the DRLUPO 15% discount. Could not pass it up for that price. The almost $500 I saved over MSRP went towards the purchase of a Playseat Trophy sim rig, wanted the logitech one but not available yet, so just got a black one.
Can't wait to put it all together new years eve, I'm upgrading from a g29 with a simple vevor racing stand.

FYI Logitech gives a $88.00 discount if you buy the wheel & pedals together at the same time.

I LOVE the fact that you took the time to script this! 11 out of 10! However, your sound eq made you almost unintelligible. You were so overbearing in the 100 - 300 Hz range, and so soft in the 1k - 3k range, that I couldn't understand some of what you said. Buuut I really have to commend you for making a scripted video and not repeating yourself several times thinking about what you might have missed. Please keep making these reviews. Maybe one comparing Logitec DD to the new Thrustmaster to the Moza to the CSL Fanatec, to the Camus!!! This is what 99% of your viewership want to see!!! Is there really more than a 5% difference between the choices? Who has the best pedals? The best price package? The best FFB? Those are THE questions everyone who wants to upgrade to entry level DD is asking!!!!! (I mean, Jimmy BB has the thinnest, nasaliest sound from his sportscast headset, but has the highest subscribership, so smooth robust sound doesn't necessarily equate to more subscribers. Even the NBA utilizes those smallish headset mics with really bad sibilance splatter instead of using oversized DJ microphones and are super successful. Gamermuscle and asmondgold come into mind for youtubers w/o an overbearing warm sound but are super successful.)

Thanks for the great comment. I’m a part timer and not a sound engineer by any means. My studio setup is temporary so actually sounds different every time I record which is a pain. Some day I’d love to have a dedicated setup but for now, ‘good enough’ will have to suffice. The camera work is also shaky and the editing is lazy. The script is the main effort so I’m glad that comes across as it’s months of intensive testing condensed into an easy to consume format. If you ever want to just read my reviews, they’re available in text form on my website :)

The pricing is so much above the g923 😐
Logitech should have a model with direct drive between the g pro and g923.
Like a g924DD not as strong as the g pro in the same housing as the g923 (and same pedals as the g923).

If your sim rig doesn't have the capability of adjusting the pedal angle....it's kind of crappy. Even better quality freestanding wheel stands can do that (see Wheel stand Pro 2.0 by Next Level racing).

    • @LaurenceDusoswa

I agree, yes. But few pedals in this price point offer adjustability of the pedal angle

How much of the relatively high price is due to "console tax" ? I assume the console vendors don't give away their "security" chips.

I feel like the price could be an issue. Especially if Moza get console compatibility. That said its great to see logitech moving with the times. My g920 served me very well but I have to say the Ghub software has always been an issue and I had to reinstall it every couple of months. I also know that I'm not the only one that had this so finger crossed they get ghub sorted. Great video tho and although I won't be getting one I look forward to seeing how it does over time.

The thing is who would pay 1k for just the wheel and base to play on a $500 console? Then drop another $350 for pedals? Money is better used going PC and get a better wheel and pedal setup for less.

I think I've never said the term "mixed feelings" before this launch.
Yes, my dream was for Logitech to join the modern sim racing era, because it's one of the last US corporations standing, and because they can make sim racing technologies like DD and LC mainstream and reachable to every casual consumer,
But no, not at 1500€. I thought 150€ for example, 200 or 300.
We're living in an era where old products hold their value for ever and there's no meaning for the concept of modern technology.
They make a 2x faster GPU for example, but at double the price. I could have bought the higher card from the last gen to begin with, if I was to pay more!!!!!!!!

I think we need to be realistic about pricing too though. You’ll never get an 11Nm wheelbase for €300

I think Logitec just pumped this product out with it's overpriced pricetag, unavailable in stores because they don't intend for it to sell. It's just to keep their image relevant with competitors. It will soon be forgotten and replaced by a true competitor in two or three years.

Seems like a slight misstep to me. It makes sense if it's been in dev for 3 years - so much has happened in 3 years and it feels like Logitech stuck to the plan they had rather than adapt. It's an expensive product that looks more like a G29 than a Simucube 2. Understandably so but around 1400 eur gets you so much more now than it did when the dev cycle started on this
