I've been looking at wheel rims a lot recently and from my research. I have found there are issues with every single one so far. No matter how expensive or not. Paddles, buttons, rotary encoders, screens, size, backlit or un-lit etc etc. There aren't any that are perfect. Theres always something to give you that buyers remorse. This hobby is tough when choosing hardware. Unless you have a huge budget and dont care too much on cost. Spending over £1k+ on a rim. It shouldnt leave you with any doubt in your purchase. From looking at brands like Cube Controls, GSI, Grid and Ascher etc. If I was within that sort of price range. The wheels from Precision Sim Engineering. Beat them all imo. Their rims look near enough perfect and worth the high price tags.
@@LaurenceDusoswa I was eyeing up that two as it has great reviews. However, like every rim. It's not perfect. The funky switches are easily knocked in the heat of the moment. According to Dan Suzuki.
That's a gret review Laurence! Nice and detailed and for sure it's right to point out any negatives considering the price point. Keep up the great work!
Great review… as a former csx2 owner and gtx owner I can say the paddles alone make the upgrade worth it. The csx2 paddles felt very numb while the paddles on the gtx were by far the best I’ve ever felt. Happy to see they are using that new paddle system through the ecosystem. The wheel has lost a lot of its sleekness due to the screen not being flush though. I’ve always felt the csx2 was the best looking wheel on the market and with the introduction of the csx3 it remains so in my opinion. Also having a smaller screen feels like a strange choice to make, possibly due to lack of screen availability on the market. If I didn’t just buy the grid rsr wheel I’d absolutely buy this. The csx2 was one of my favorite wheels of all time and I love the guys are cube controls. They are super helpful and very nice people all together who deserve success.
Cube wheels have always had me intrigued. They have a different design language than most in a really cool way that is still grounded enough to pass as a racing wheel. My only issue is needing quiet shifters. Something they've never had :( Great video and a great overview of this wheel that looks amazing.
thats my only con in my F-Pro wheel, damn shifters are LOUD as hell. My favorite shifters have been the Sf1000 chronopaddles, they use the single piece similar to real F1 wheels and the sound and click was just amazing. Still the best value for a sim wheel. Too bad it didnt work with my simucube 2 pro otherwise it would have been the go to wheel
It's a lovely unit. I think they had to choose between releasing something or waiting and releasing nothing. I think they made the right choice because it's a nice piece. Not perfect, but I'm hopeful
I have always liked the look of their wheels, and am very happy with my old Formula pro, so i imagine you cant go wrong with the CSX3 as their wheels are very high quality.
I don't have an issue with grip on my F-Pro and it uses the same material as this. I run this wheel on high torque mode all the time at 50% and I have ZERO issues with these grips. I thought it would be an issue after hearing that complain quite a bit but I think people just need to work out more. Thanks to my Rogue fitness Rack for helping have the grip to be able to "handle" my sim wheel lol
Ok 😂 It’s not a question of fitness/strength though. I don’t have any problems with this grip as I got used to it but the older one was softer and grippier which is even nicer in my opinion.
@@LaurenceDusoswa I have the f pro, and find the grips not usable without really good gloves, in my case alpine stars karting gloves with silicone grip materials.
@@LaurenceDusoswa I don't have an issue with this grip and I prefer this over softer stuff since it will last longer. If you have above average grip strength, then this grip wouldn't be an issue. Especially for the people that won't run High Torque at 50%-wheel strength. Reviews made it sound worse than it is. If you regularly lift couple of hundred pounds on a barbell bar with no gloves, then this plastic grip won't be an issue at all.
I had the F-Pro for a WHILE and it is a great wheel, exact same shifters as these.... but something to keep in mind, the shifters are LOUD. They are nice and tactile but if your partner doesn't want to hear loud noises, then be prepared to invest in some headphones for them. I also had the same issue he had with the shifter traveling and I had to REALLY tightened the shifter. I was hoping that issue would be fixed but it looks like it is still there. Great wheel, would buy again but wish the paddles were quieter. My only feedback with the review is that the paddle sound is too low to what you will actually have in real life.
Yeah I didn’t mention the volume. I have louder and clickier shifters but these are also quite loud. Thanks for your comment as it will really help people who are concerned about noise
The dual clutch on my F-Pro arrived loose. I had to open up the wheel to properly tighten it down. I have heard of CC issues with CubeControl and I experienced it. I went with the F-Pro over the GSI because of the shifter noise and turns out these are loud too lol. Other than having to open up my brand new $1k+ wheel its been great. The grips on the CSX3 look more like what I want though as the F-Pro's can be a bit too small.

Nice review ! Can I ask where do you go find and download those exquisite simHUB dashes ? And is there a function for you to swipe to another dash in simHUB?
Simhub dashes are difficult to find. I wish there was a good marketplace out there. Facebook is a good place to go. So is discord, in the various discords like GSI or cube controls. I don’t think there’s a way to do a swipe to switch dashes unfortunately
@@LaurenceDusoswathank you: is it best to overwrite existing dashes or completely delete the dash to reinstall? Ascher F64-v3 + any 5" Vocore DDU is better than this wheel, and cheaper. Cube wheels looking nice, but it is only the look. I hate it's grips, buttons, and funky switches. Funky switches are let down on this wheels because it doesn't click and go left right like Ascher does. So I hated that in my Cube wheels honestly. If you want to use that to any direction, you shouldn't click the funky just point that direction and not fully to engage direction functions. Shifters are ok, but the loosening screw is a thing. It loosens after sometime and gets an angle in time. Thanks for the amazing review Laurance. Imho 4" screen kinda looks ridiculous on this wheel, it is too small and there is no point paying that extra instead of F-PRO. Everyone must consider getting an F-PRO and a static screen like 5" Grid DDU
@@chiefzski if you are referring to his review, please can you point to this very specific feedback? For us it's important to understand. Thank you in advance.
@@CubeControls Will said in his review that, after some usage, funky buttons lost its clickiness and softened. Now only works silently, if you hit the very end of the directions, it clicks but functions as push button. Are you using Alps Alpine switches?
I personally find the LED's a little childish. The design is very "gamey" and remind me of brands like Razor. Along with the indented screen (I sit a little higher than most) and the rotaries not being turnable from the back, I cant justify the price anymore. Too many cons for that much money.
I'm not a fan of Cube Controls to be honest, at least not their wireless wheels. Their use of non user replaceable rechargeable LiPo batteries in wireless wheels has left me with a dead GT Pro Zero. Even though it's under guarantee it's not worth the 3 to 400 euros shipping, import duty and tax and inspection fees (by customs), not to mention the hassle to get it repaired. I hope their USB wheels are less encumbered with stupid design decisions.
No need to send it back! We can send to you a battery and replace it very easily! Please contact us and our customer support team will take care of it! :)

Thanks for the amazing review Laurance. Imho 4" screen kinda looks ridiculous on this wheel, it is too small and there is no point paying that extra instead of F-PRO. Everyone must consider getting an F-PRO and a static screen like 5" Grid DDU
Hi! Funky switches have been updated with the introduction of the F-PRO. Now their feedback is neat and works exactly as you wish!
@@CubeControls I don't think so Cube, Will (Boosted Media) also said this issue for F-PRO, and that was the let down again. You have lost me
@@chiefzski if you are referring to his review, please can you point to this very specific feedback? For us it's important to understand. Thank you in advance.
@@CubeControls Will said in his review that, after some usage, funky buttons lost its clickiness and softened. Now only works silently, if you hit the very end of the directions, it clicks but functions as push button. Are you using Alps Alpine switches?
Weight? Did I miss how it compares to others in the weight department. Overall, for the price, underwhelmed, sorry.
1143 gr. I didn't mention it :D It's not very heavy
I personally find the LED's a little childish. The design is very "gamey" and remind me of brands like Razor. Along with the indented screen (I sit a little higher than most) and the rotaries not being turnable from the back, I cant justify the price anymore. Too many cons for that much money.
I hear what you’re saying. It’s a tough one
@@CubeControls That's good to know, and I'll be in touch in a few days. It's not urgent as I've already transferred the actual rim to another button box.
Many thanks for replying.
I have never owned their wireless wheels so I cannot comment. This is my third wired wheel from them
@@LaurenceDusoswa Well they've reached out to me, and offered to send me a replacement battery, so you can't say fairer than that.
Bitching about it then Cube control offering an easy solution to this small problem then says I'll be in touch in a couple days feels like trolling by someone that probably doesn't even own their wheels or you would have wrote them and knew about how easy changing the battery is.
It's cube controls. So don't buy this crap
Feel free to elaborate on this
