    Laurence , good review . I have some comments having driven these for 3 months .I have no problems with my Simagic alpha mini base and GT1 wheel. It is as Laurence said, exemplary for it's price . Great ffb , feel and detail. For the pedals though, initially I was happy but I think Chinese companies in general suffer from QC problems especially when they have to ramp up manufacturing quantity. The adjust nut for the preload for my brake was machined completely off axis. And not by a little , it was so off axis in it's screw thread . If you say 90 degrees is perfectly vertical , this was at 60 degrees. The brake Loadcell and hydraulic pressure though was faultless now having driven it about 3 months. Tiny squeak all through it but no fluid leak or bleed. The accelerator pedal damping though, now in 3 months has bled and is much softer now. The damping was initially very strong. At setting , 6 you had very stiff damping. After 3 months use, the 6 is now like a 3 or 2 , it's that loose. The damping mechanism is for sure a stellar feature , when it works properly. Probably the seal's quality is lacking hence it's lack of long reliability. Maybe when I send mine for warranty change it will be ok but for now I just drive it with the lesser damping. What kind of surprised me was these problems cropping up in a euro 799 set. Is it supposed to happen ? Is this 'high end'.
    Also from the very beginning, the damping response curve is very shallow from 1-4. 5 and 6 suddenly get very stiff. 1-4, there is not much difference between them .
    The rest of the good features, TBF are as Laurence said. If you get a set with good QC then you won't have any of these issues. Also I think the damping response curve, I think is by design, though not a very good one to me.
    If you don't get a good QC set, Otherwise be prepared to have a lot of back and forth with your reseller who so far have been good about problems at least in my case. They just offer a straight swap of the problem pedal (s), so far ( still under warranty ). The SW tuning is also a good plus.
    I wonder what accelerator fluid they use .. if I knew maybe I could just refill the cylinder and bring the pressure back up. No idea if it's mineral oil or dot 3/4/5?

      Having said all that I am happy with the pedals (5 month update). The brakes are the main thing and they are great. You can choose from 6 springs from 4 different stiffness to get the stiffness on the brakes' hydro cylinder feel that u want. The accelerator pedal I can adjust the cotter pin to stiffen it and so the damping doesn't really come into the issue. all 3 pedals stiffness can be easily adjusted for easier or stiffer pressure by adjusting the length of the leverage as held by the cotter pins. I would still recommend it. Reseller service has been great.

      Hey Ken, how have the pedals been performing? Any reliability issues? They look and seem like a great deal, but reliability of the brake and accelerator pedals have me worrying.
      Id rather spend twice as much for heusinkveld's hydraulic pedals if reliability is an issue with these Simagic's

    I have a set of these and Lawrence’s view is nearly spot on.
    With the brake face coming loose, I’d suggest he uses the silver bolts that are holding down the pedals to fasten the faces, as you can torque them easier. The black bolts also match the pedals so look better.
    With regard to the control box you can hide it much easier if you pass the cables through the spare long slots in the baseplate (they just pass through with a bit of patience). This cleans up the set up immensely and the box is easier to hide.
    It also looked like his pedal was starting to leak. I’m waiting for a new throttle pedal from the retailer as mine leaks too.

You push brake and the signal went down, not up, but that was a quick fiv. Love them as well as the alpha mini. Will be interested to see if they release a handbrake as the control box has a spot for it. Keep up the great content and see you in tomorrow's stream.

    Nice review! Acc. to a review in the iRacing forum it seems that the brake fluid is Silicon oil with a viscosity of 350, which is harmless and self-lubricating. Good design decision. With the newer batch the side-play of the pedals is fully gone (new batches to be recognised by the red washers). My throttle has a little bit of an initial stiction (break away torque). Do you know if that goes away after a while? Did you test it with RaceRoom? Some say Raceroom doesn't detect the pedals. I wished they had the baseplate also in black.

    • @Bikaz
      @Bikaz 2 года назад +1

      the black baseplate could probably look better, but id also imagine it to look worse with some wear on it especially when wearing shoes. My sprints for example show a lot of wear which doesnt look great, if the plate would be black id have 3 massive exposed metal spots which wouldnt look to great.

    • @LaurenceDusoswa
      @LaurenceDusoswa  2 года назад +1

      I didn't test in raceroom, no. I had suspicions about the fluid too because it didn't damage anything when i spilled some, but simagic told me that it was in fact brake fluid :p I didn't experience the throttle issue you describe. Apologies for the late reply!

    What's the difference between Simagic P1000 and P2000?
    Everyone is talking about the P1000 haptic motors.
    I've read / seen / some RUclips videos, they are pretty loud.
    Is that true ?
    How is the stiffness difference between P1000 and P2000 ?
    No matter what I purchase, there will be a 2 set pedals.

    I bought these for a couple of reason. I've been dreaming of HE Sprints forever, but these were 200$ less (Counting the extra plate needed for the Sprints). I've been using a button load cell on the G29 Brake, so I know this will last. Also like the springs better than the elastomer in this brake configuration. The damper on the throttle was the last big option that made up my mind. And boy do I appreciate that throttle.

      @LaurenceDusoswa  2 года назад +6

      ah that's a pity. My recommendation to you would be to try to get somewhere where you can try the P2000s. They may not be as much better as you think. Also, experiment with the elastomer setup in your sprints. There may be performance in there that you haven't found because what you're doing is 'good enough' for your needs. I would not be willing to bet that if 10 people tried the p2000 vs the sprints side by side, that they would all choose one over the other. That's worth bearing in mind too.

    I've had these for a couple months now and the review is spot on. I only disagree with one thing, I'd get the 200kg load cell.
    I have my brake pedal calibrated with 100% at 114kg. Of course if I had 100kg I would adapt to having these at 100kg and most certainly after some time I'd be fine with that, but if you're spending nearly a grand in some pedals you probably don't want to do compromises with the brake.

      Funny thing, the kg values in simpro manager are higher and can't be trusted, if you set 100% and max the sensor it shows up to 347kg of force being applied which is obviously wrong.

    But having said that, i think people have to be carefull with their own expectations! We can have competitive prices in good equipment, but don't ever think that for cheap prices, one will get features and QC some high range products have!
    These Pedals do offer amazing value for some of their features (the same thing could be said for new CSL Pedals/CSP v3 with load cell, or BJ, DC, Meca.....), the important is to know what to need for your personal Sim experience and what to expect from companies and products, after considering what are their expertise, history background, support....
    Don't expect a company or product to unite ALL the Best of ALL the Worlds! No such company or product exist or probably will ever...just look at what you want to take from your Simulation experience, be sure to take in account your available time/life, your money limits, and adjust the options to those factors!
    Always be carefull about the support factor, mainly when we are talking about more recente companies, products that come from continents out side yours!
    Happy sim experience!

Always have atention to my customers, and expect nothing else from my other partners and suppliers... that's why, altough understand emotionally, i don't like clubism or fanclubs, when it comes to logic arguments!

    I'm 9 months late, but id imagine you should be able to use other oil in the brake res. Brake fluid really is only needed when you are talking about real car brakes, they need to be specified to certain standards to prevent the oil from boiling as the heat is transferred from the brake pads into the pistons. Since these operate a slave cylinder and wont be even coming close to high temps, I'd imagine any mineral oil should be fine.

      I have no problems with my Simagic alpha mini base and GT1 wheel.

      @@kenhiew2900 Thanks for the detailed write up. That’s a bit concerning to say the least. I’ve actually read other comments from various places with people experiencing the same types of issues. This is particularly concerning considering the price range of these pedals. There are a ton of new options at this price range that seem to have better longevity without qc issues (vrs, Meca, simforge, Heusenveld, etc.). I really like the spring design for the brake pedal but I think the vrs pedals have a somewhat comparable spring system without longevity issues so I’m leaning to them atm. There are other great options, but I really don’t want to go with elastometers if I can help it. There’s just something about the way they compress that doesn’t feel right to me when compared to springs.
