Actually, pest threads and pest threads spear is the best for the furnace golem. You can aim at the leg opposite of you and shoot through the leg in front of you, effectively doubling the amount of hits and stagger. It takes me less than 1min to kill them with either of those.
@IntertwiningRoses Yeah this is a killer way to stagger them. And Ancient Dragon Lightning Strike virtually insta-staggers the non-armored ones, especially if you have Mimic Tear do it with you. They literally can't even move once you're both able to get it off
My introduction to the pog imp was actually somebodys message, it read "first off, message and then explosion!" And whoever it was that wrote that was absolutely correct, IYKYK
The Poison Flower Blooms Twice AoW has actually the same effect as the Poison Moth Flight AoW. The only difference between the two is that The Poison Flower Blooms Twice works for both rot and poison instead of only poison, meaning poison was already viable in the base game. Great video nontheless!
Something that I rarely see people talked about: You can use Morgot/Mohg binding to unlock spiritsprings in the dlc (no need to find and break the seal) and also can be use to break the hanging pots. The bindings could also use to reveal hidden path within a large radius.
1:20 I have another tip for furnace golem. Raptor of the mist AoW trivializes the golems explosive jump attack. You phase through the initial explosion and are in the air to avoid the flame wave.
Mad respects for the generally spoiler free video. I personally have not had enough time to finish the dlc yet and i love that i could actually watch this video
For mages, Shard Spiral is a great spell to use to stagger the furnace golems. It travels some distance and goes through the 1st targeted leg to continue to damage the other leg. Overall it's a great spell to melt the health of larger and slower enemies.
Spiral shard was 100% worth doing the Seline quest. That spells has literal 360 degree tracking, and pierces everything. Even in pvp its forces running or rolling since it is a guaranteed hit without one of the two.
Another op mechanic: Some palyers might know you can use Margit's Shackle to remove nearby illusory walls, hit flame thrower traps in dungeons from a distance and get rid of those annoying chariots. Now with the DLC they added (at least) 2 new things you can hit with Margit's Shackle. Those pots 3:13 hanging from the wall and sealed spirit springs. This way you don't have to switch to a bow to hit the pot and you won't have to go look for the pile of rocks to activate the spirit spring. Just use the shackle next to the spirit spring and you are most likely gonna be in range to hit the seal.
The biggest one for me was learning that the furnace golems are the erdtree avatars of the DLC, I had no idea the DLC even added any physic tears until literally like 85% of the way through. When I first played this game my dumbass thought that crystal tears were consumable since so many other rare items like exalted flesh and rune arcs are, so I never used the wonderous physic until almost the end of the game because I was afraid I would waste it, the DLC was like my first playthrough all over again
If you have a Faith build, Ancient Dragon Lighting Strike is fantastic for the golems. Buff with golden vow and flame protect me so you can facetank their attacks, and just start spamming lightning right under them. They’ll eat every single bolt and take quintuple digit damage even without buffs, you’ll get the stagger PING every other cast and often knock them out of animations
personally id use blackflame blade over blackflame tornado, as blackflame tornado takes up your ash of war slot which could be used for something else, and blackflame blade is basically just blackflame drawstring grease, you can quickly apply it whenever unlike blackflame tornado where youre gonna need to find a window to use it so you dont get immediately slapped for doing so
Respect for not spoiling stuff, even if DLC was released more than 2 weeks. Some of us take a while to beat the game and it sucks when algorithm recommends spoilers.
If you rest and stand up while the fire animation is still playing on the bridge it will also kill the respawned enemies, essentially 2xing the rune farm! You’ll need to rerest after this though cause you’ll get the runes from the respawned enemies but they won’t actually die and you won’t get runes from them again until you rest again.
You actually have to do that, otherwise you're better off farming the bird at Mohg's place. If you do the two-for-one thing consistently, this rune farm is marginally faster than the bird by, I'd say, maybe five thousand runes per minute and it's easier than having to shoot the bird over and over. Of course, if you have the Sacred Relic Sword, the albinauric farm is still way more efficient regardless.
I don't jump when dealing with the unarmored Furnace Golems, Vow of the Indomitable is amazing for that. Plus it's SUPER SATIFYING to pull off when they go for that jumping slam, it's basically a nope.mp4 button to not take damage during that attack.
I have to wonder whether the furnace golems were meant to teach and acquaint you to utilize more jumping, it almost feels deliberate that it's one of the first things you can encounter and there are so many of them
Not sure if it's been made widely known yet, but another dps increase you can do is inflict yourself with the Lulling Branch before a fight, similar to using Fetid Pots to causing poison on yourself. Once the Sleep status procs, St. Trina's Smile will give a damage boost similar to Lord of Blood's Exultation or Kindred of Rot's Exultation. I could see a prebuff strat that uses all three of those plus Shriek of Sorrow to get at least *some* uptime on a whole bunch of ~20% buffs
Ive been duel wielding both st trina swords (just to try something new) and i was fsirly impressed with the amount of damage you can crank out with them
After Radahn consort uses his initial spinning gravity attack, I do a couple rolls away, activate scarlet Aeonia to trigger rot, and use "blooms twice" to absolutely shred him.

This might seem like an obvious thing but if anyone has problems fighting mobs in DLC, stormcaller is a lifesaver. more so if you have high FP/stam to work with and if you have bleed procs on your weapon (even if you're a purely non melee player slapping this AOW on like a +20 uchigatana if you meet the requirements if not any blood infused curvedsword, axe, hammer, katana works really well too). From Bloodfiends to the curseblades, pests, scorpions, bats, birds, dogs ,imps ,bears ,skeletons , fire knights, even the messmer soldiers with greatshields and greathammer, and every single NPC boss fight/NPC invasion. none of them can poise through stormcaller and get infinitely micro staggered. the only mobs that can't be microstaggered are obviously the horned warriors. shielded guards also can't guard counter stormcaller because it hits too quickly for them to get a breathing room. you can proc millicent's prosthesis and both sword insignias with it too. the hit box of this thing after pretty much doing the whole DLC with it still surprises me to this day. Just make sure you have good poise if you want to go full spam mode with it.
There's actually a ash of war called poison moth flight that is similar to poison flower blooms twice! It doesn't do rot. Instead it does poison exclusively. It's a slash attack but it has a similar detonation mechanic. The two are both boosted by the same talismans so they would go perfectly together. I've been putting together a build using them both for a few days now!
So in my testing for the Flower Blooms twice: using it on a poisoned, badly poisoned, rotten(from weapon), or badly rotten (from spell) enemy remove the all applied poisons and deal 5% of max HP damage. So its good to get talisman and hat that get attack boost if someone is poisoned nearby and apply / reapply poison with this AoW What is not good. Using rotten dragon breath or Scarlet Aeonia spells and then remove strong rot from enemy using this AoW.
I didn't know about jumping for the most part (just against Hoarah Loux which is the one encounter pre-DLC that seems to try to teach jumping) so ended up using the Fingerprint shield vs my first Furnace Golem. With flame enchant it's 100% fire resist and with enough stamina it literally can't kill you with stomps... occasionally its stomp fire attack hits twice at once so a full stamina bar is needed every time to avoid instant death.
So, the thing about additive percentages is that they get proportionally stronger the more base reduction you already have. If you want to halve the damage you take (so that it takes twice as many hits to kill you), you need 50% damage reduction so from 0-50% that is +50%. If you want to halve the damage you take again (so it takes in total four times as many hits to kill you) you need 75% damage reduction, or +25%. That second +25% is just as powerful as the first +50% because it's additive. This is different from multiplicative reduction where you would've needed another *50% reduction. So if these scadutree reductions are additive, you get an insane bonus from levels 11 and 12 compared to the rest (going by the table shown) but those reductions after are far from insignificant. in fact if they are additive, that means that the more base reduction you have, the better scadutree blessing becomes.
What worked for me really well with the furnace golems jump attack is summoning your horse when he's up in the air. The invincibility frames work well.
That is fucking amazing, thank you so much I love status builds in every game that has them and poison/rot has evaded my interest in this one but now that there’s a “detonate” mechanic I HAVE to give it a go
Nice video, learned a few new tricks, thanks! However I would like to mention that the oil tear has a hefty cooldown where if you are using catch flame inc., only every 3rd attack would get the bonus damage. Additionally, you also take 20% more fire damage under the duration of the tear.
I'll have to give shriek of sorrow a shot. I usually avoid buffs that work when you're low hp because I feel more okay with taking hits. Like the red feather talisman. But it seems like a good buff regardless. Also cursing us with the knowledge of Pog imp is unforgivable
Dude amazing videos thank you for all the amazing tips & tricks I wasn’t even aware of!! Only issue is, I’m going to forget all this tomorrow and go back to panic rolling and fighting every boss the exact same way lol
Note: The furnace golem bridge rune farm is only marginally faster than farming the bird at Mogh's place, the main appeal being that it's easier. Farming the albinaurics with the Sacred Relic Sword is still way better, so the golem bridge is mostly viable if you're playing through the DLC before beating the base game. Also, you _have_ to rest at the right time so that the fire whirl kills double the enemies every time, since that's the only thing making this method better than the bird.
The 'Rot Dive' Ashe rapidly became one of my more favored ashes, specifically putting on the Venomous Fang is really nice. You can use it as a gap closer to proc scarlet rot, then slap a target around to get the poison procced on it to. Se the Rot fall off at any point? Time to kick during the last seconds of the poison to get super bonus damage and start the chain over again. Or, if the target is squishy, just proc deadly poison and kick whenever there's an opening with Kindred of Rot's Exultation for continual bonus damage. One could even not make the claws poison with this strat and function entirely off of the 30 second deadly poison on a quality weapon buffed with a grease or a spell. It's versatile, feels good to have access to, and makes poison actually fun to use in a build.
To elaborate on the undead holy weakness tip: Order's Blade gives you the same bonus damage and doesn't require you to swap your weapon (assuming your weapon can be buffed) or your ash of war. I'm very happy that this weapon buff that I quickly fell in love with but has so very limited utility in the base game is actually really good in the Shadowlands.
Anything that rains damage down from the sky can “mini” stagger the furnace golems. My favorite is Ancient Dragons’ Lightning Strike cause it gives you multiple chances to hit the sweet spot and get a stagger.
I went with a fireknight sword and popped a taunters tounge. This was the ash of war I decided to use for it. It's very good for movement and most players dont know the timeing for it.
A pro tip for mentioned POG imps and huge POG imps. Their projectile deals 100% physical damage despite looking like a fireball. It can be blocked with any 100% physical negation shield.
My first kill of the final boss made use of PFBT in a pretty perfect way if I do say so myself. I put it on the Antspur Rapier with a poison infusion. By the time poison procs with lights or heavies, the rot buildup from the AoE will usually be enough to trigger it. So big dmg burst from removing poison and now he’s rotted so you can do it again for more dmg and repeat the cycle. P.S. you can slip rolling r1s in between some of his combos for keeping the buildup pressure on.
For the furnace Golem, just throw 5 hefty fire pots or 3 of the hefty furnace pots in his bowl, takes 10secs. There is always a elevated position, get em there and start yeeting
Just to add a little extra about the bloom ash of war in the beginning. You can still let the poison and rot tick and after some time b4 it runs out, you can hit the enemy with the ash of war to proc that instant damage effect without taking damage away for waiting to use it till the end of the status bar. Atleast when i used it that was the case. Dont know if its different now or not
I loved fighting the furnace golems, once I leaned how. Went around the map and enjoyed every second. I love every damn atom of these games lol, one of the best gifts the universe has bestowed during my brief time here
dude I can't express how thankful I am that there are still people around on yt who genuinely want to help instead of pushing some promo in my face and coming up with "13 things i NEED to be doing in the dlc"
The point about the scadutree fragements is interesting. I didn't know it was true, but I assumed it was true. The reason is that From usually does this with findable upgrades. For example, the DS 3 estus upgrades (healing power per flask, not number of flasks) work very similarly. The upgrade in healing you get from the first upgrade is larger than the last 6 (of 10 total) combined! Soul drops follow a similar power curve, but inverted. This is why you never have to really stress about losing souls to death - the game ensures you can catch up through the larger soul drops as you progress the game (and each upgrade takes successively more material).
slight correction - I went and double-checked. The first estus upgrade takes your flask from 250 hp healing to 335 hp - an increase of 85 hp. The last 6 upgrades combined *also* increase your flasks' healing power by 85 hp - from 515 to 600.
Ancient Dragon Lightning’s Strike does a ton of damage to furnace golems. It just takes long to fully cast so you have to work on the timing a bit at first.
The thorn sorcery for the fire golem oh my gosh!!!!! Boosted with the graven mass and graven school and azurs glinstone crown. I never would have tried the thorns. So fast. These things have been torture for me. I beat everything BUT them! Thank you so so much
I litteraly used shriek of sorrow for the dlc cuz I didn't know what else I'd use. As I basically decided to do a fist weapon only run at that time. Can confirm. It's a good one
I used Death's Poker against the golems on my first run, then on my second character I tried out Ancient Dragon's Lightning Strike which was a spell I never really used, it absolutely shredded them.
Not really a DLC mechanic but if you have the Sacred Relic Sword and never really used it because it was from the end boss, now you can. It's actually an incredibly useful weapon for dealing with large groups of enemies in the DLC, especially the massive hordes of the shadow hornsent that can happen in places like Bonny village.
That's really cool that the rot ash works like moth flight but beefier. Hopefully now more people will get use out of them, it'd be silly to not use them if you're running a poison build
Fully charged Ancient Dragon lightning strike with the full death Knight armor set and the dragon cult seal lets you insta-stagger furnace golems and can lock them down if you time it right (lil more complex than the ones shown in the vid but if you're lightning-pilled this works well)
for the furnace guys the spiral glintstone sorcery is the best period. fast casting tons of little hits i could stagger and restagger before even one move from the furnace golem
Thanks for making this spoiler free! There are so many RUclipsrs that already put bosses in the Thumbnail, you dont even put them into the video! THANKS! #germanengineering
I swear I literally thought of the trick where I brought that sleeping Golem down and tried to throw the big furnace pot into its head but it didn't seem to work. So I went back to hitting the face. Seeing it mentioned here confuses me. Maybe I did something wrong. I'll try it again one day. Useful video btw, as always.
If you are playing as a mage you should use Spiral Shard against furnace golems. Is staggers them in 2-3 seconds and deals tens of thousands of damage while doing so.
The best damage in the DLC (except for the final boss) is holy damage since most of the time you'll fight undead enemies, or sometimes lightning is good if you're on a water environment
I knew furnace Golem was using a completely different stagger system for no good reason! It was so dumb when a bunch of light attacks from a dagger toppled whim when charged attacks from a great sword would not!

ooft that BB theatre music is a godly choice
I can have an OILED UP fight with melania now?? Best DLC EVER
Battleblock Theatre music, ah the nostalgia!
Omg....my mind went interdimentional at 1:29 with firepot trick 😮
This is legitimately my favorite souls RUclips channel, your voice, punctuation and delivery are all perfected. Great job Levi
PFBT AoW feels so good to play that I changed my build to a poison-focused build and re-did the whole game including the dlc with it.
4:02 even after the patch that changed the scadu fragment scaling? Thank god, at least i feel not too op
Ancient Dragon Lightning Strike also pretty much chain staggers the furnace golems, if you're a faith caster
I'll have to give shriek of sorrow a shot. I usually avoid buffs that work when you're low hp because I feel more okay with taking hits. Like the red feather talisman. But it seems like a good buff regardless.
Also cursing us with the knowledge of Pog imp is unforgivable
Finally this ash of war is underrated
Bigger enemies get hit 2 times
It has Super armor
It has tracking
It has Stagger
Its really good
Dude amazing videos thank you for all the amazing tips & tricks I wasn’t even aware of!!
Wild Strikes vs. Furnace Golems just made my life so much better. Thank you!!!!
Anything that rains damage down from the sky can “mini” stagger the furnace golems. My favorite is Ancient Dragons’ Lightning Strike cause it gives you multiple chances to hit the sweet spot and get a stagger.
i used the poisoned flower blooms against malenia a couple days ago on dry leaf arts
it was so fucking good
and yes... you CAN poison Malenia
That's pretty cool! I would love to see a video list of the top 2 ways to kill most anything.
It can be blocked with any 100% physical negation shield.
i expected this video to be complete clickbait, but those were actually some really useful tips i havent thought about
My first kill of the final boss made use of PFBT in a pretty perfect way if I do say so myself.
I'm currently trying to make this into a build also! So glad someone is covering this this Ash of War is so fucking fun to pull off
Just to add a little extra about the bloom ash of war in the beginning. You can still let the poison and rot tick and after some time b4 it runs out, you can hit the enemy with the ash of war to proc that instant damage effect without taking damage away for waiting to use it till the end of the status bar. Atleast when i used it that was the case. Dont know if its different now or not
Great video as always. Your last video made me try jumping to dodge attacks and my god the dlc would’ve been waaay harder without
I loved fighting the furnace golems, once I leaned how. Went around the map and enjoyed every second. I love every damn atom of these games lol, one of the best gifts the universe has bestowed during my brief time here
I never saw those pots, this has been very helpful
dude I can't express how thankful I am that there are still people around on yt who genuinely want to help instead of pushing some promo in my face and coming up with "13 things i NEED to be doing in the dlc"
I like how nothing in this video is actually hidden from you, it’s just common sense that apparently most of the Elden Ring players lack.
Furnace golem: Ancient lightning strikes between their legs staggers every time for me, stops whatever attack they were about to do
3:50
the albanaric slayer works here too
aka sacred relic sword
Where is it?????
I swear people are more worried about spoilers for the DLC than they were for the main game.
When i realised how much thought went into this video i immediately subbed lol thankyou!!
Wow what a perfect video! Basically zero meaningful spoilers and tons of info.. My man!
Radahn is the last boss and miquella dies
Oh my god that pog imp is hilarious
The section on the 'Pog Imp' made me subscribe instantly - thank you
This is a shrimping good list
4:35 Redmane Knight Ogha from the base game can also do that with his greatbow.
you avoided spoilers, i appreciate you x
Me who duel wields weapons with sacred blade: "I felt like that's why I absolutely destroyed those dragons."
The posin flower blooms twice was like my main source of damage for the DLC until i hit the final boss
Shard Spiral is the cheese for furnace golems. I used it to kill every unarmored golems, and each fight took like a minute or less to kill.
I shall use this on my Poison Great Mace ❤️🔥 the big damage in conjunction with the Kindred talisman will allow a big smack.
Put poison affinity on 2 hand to hand wraps with the poison blooms twice ash. Very fun
(I did switch to bleed though 😂 too fun)
Everyone: dlc is too hard
This guy: look how easily you can kill every boss and cheese melenia with the pog imp
The best damage in the DLC (except for the final boss) is holy damage since most of the time you'll fight undead enemies, or sometimes lightning is good if you're on a water environment
*akshually*, for some reason phase 1 of the final boss is weakest to Holy, and phase 2 has equal elemental resists across the board. So go nuts!
It took me the entirety of Elden Ring, 3 times and the DLC once ro realize you can jump over some attacks.
I knew furnace Golem was using a completely different stagger system for no good reason!
It was so dumb when a bunch of light attacks from a dagger toppled whim when charged attacks from a great sword would not!
DAMN, I really thought that the last 2 scadu levels carried me through the yellow disco boss but it was only a 5% help lol
