We make a cheat version of chicken luau.. We take a chicken Lau Lau, carmelize some onion in a pot, add and break up the lau lau, add stock and a little coconut milk.. season to taste and cook till all soft and perfect,.we eat with poi and rice and pickles.. thats just how we do it.
so satisfying..

How do you stop the itchy throat from the leaves?

If you are sensitive to the itch you can always cook the leaves down longer. The itch comes from calcium oxalate crystals. Those break down with the heat and pressure.
