👇You now understand Ingredient Finding
Thank you, that was really helpful.
Hoping for 2 things from Lapis Lakeside;
1) - Shellder/Cloyster makes it's debut
2) - Shellder/Cloyster have Slowpoke Tails as a possible ingredient ;)
I was thinking that's the only other mon that makes sense to drop tail. Or maybe Mew.
I'm all for this
I'm now wondering if ditto gets slowpoke tail because it becomes slowpoke when it transforms, or it becomes shellder?
@@Bropenings Makes more sense if it transforms into Shellder right? (Bites slowpoke's tail, doesn't trigger an evolution because it's not really a Shellder, tail falls off, ditto keeps) #overthinkingit
Absolutely loved this video and got inspired to list out all the combinations in order of percentage multipliers.
IFS = 1.18
nature = 1.2
IFM = 1.36
IFS + nature = 1.18 x 1.2 = 1.416
IFS + IFM = 1.54
IFM + nature = 1.36 x 1.2 = 1.632
IFS + IFM + nature = (1 + 0.36 + 0.18) x 1.2 = 1.848
Bad nature combinations below
nature = 0.8
IFS + nature = 1.18 x 0.8 = 0.944
IFM + nature = 1.36 x 0.8 = 1.088
IFS + IFM + nature = 1.232
I think I finally understand how this works, because it never was explained in the game. Whenever your helping time is reach, let's say 45 min, the game rolls between finding a Berry/Berries or one of your three ingredients (if unlocked).
I always thought there was a chance all your unlocked ingredients would get added on top of the berries. So the berries were guarenteed. Apparently this isn't the case.
You got it
me: sees a 10 min+ bropenings pokemon sleep video
also me: my day is made
Happy to be the inspiration for a new Video. 😊
It’s a shame there’s no way to teach or reroll sub skills. It’s interesting to me that Ingredient Finder and Inventory Up are only useful on an ingredient specialist and actually harmful to berry specialists. Many some day in an update we can change them. Like in Pokémon Go there was no way to change the moves on your Pokémon for the first year or so and now I’m swimming TMs
Thanks for this insight. I don't have the lifestyle for Pokemon go so I was so happy to have Pokemon sleep come out
You know what? Watching this has also started to make me wonder on possible future dishes (and ingredients) to be released. Something tells me it’ll drastically become harder soon enough
Great breakdown Brovinnie. After unlocking tier 2, I would recommend targeting dishes to identify which ingredient specialist to target. No point in taking. Lvl 30 to 50 if you never use the ingredient.
I get more Slowpoke tails from ingredient magnet proc than running slowpoke a whole 2 days😩
At the abysmal 15% ingredient rate, and base ingredient being cacao halving the possible tail procs, Slowpokes are true to their name.
If you can get all 3 IF abilities to give it ~30% rate it'll be a bit better.
This was so helpful, thanks, I did hear it was 18% and 36% before but I didn't know where to use those numbers
So what I took away from this is, and correct me if I'm wrong:
-From previous videos, NATURE was always the best element to look for, followed by sub skills
-Sub skills, though you can't have two of the same levels, both increase finding ability
-They are all stack, which is great
I still hold on to mons with good subskills and not helpful natures, though in the event they implement mints or something else that allows us to change natures. Thanks again as always for providing us with great information.
I think it's better to say nature is stronger than S version of subskill for Ingredient Finder and Helping Speed but weaker than M version.
When you first start out the game nature is more important due to lack of subskills and seeds, and not yet having materials reaching L25 and L50 subskills.
As an engineer, I liked this very much, like YES, now I can calculate with some amount of accuracy how much cacao I wont get from my absol and dont get so dissapointed every time I check
Then you know the pain of playing a relatively new game when the data/figures are not readily available
Woke up this morning to a shiny Wobbufet and another terrible BFS SQUIRTLE lol
Question. Could use some help. I have a C rated raichu level 30 and just got a C rated Pikachu but it has berry finder at level 10. So I start over or just keep the one I’m using? Thanks
Calculators that give u a single overall tier without context is not that helpful. I'd need to see the stats of both your pokemon to help you decide.

Brilliant video. If only the game gave us such basic information as the species ingredient chance, but it's a Pokémon game...
I do think 1.18 and 1.2 are close enough that if anyone was weighing up a catch, you could easily say they DO cancel out each other.
But I would say IF S is better because it can often be subseeded to outdo the nature.
As I explained in video the reason they don't give the basic information is because it's not basic at all.
1.18x ingredient would sound like ingredients go up, but a casual player wouldnt know the berry goes down. I think that's why they worded it vaguely.
👇I made you even more confused about Ingredient Finding
Are there caps to the increases of ingredient finding? I have a Larvitar with Ingredient finding up, Ingredient finder S, and Ingredient finder M. Wondering if I should use a sub skill berry to improve the S to M.
Nope, no cap on ingredient finding
You can't sub seed berry finding S
Is it okay to have speed of help up nature as an ingredient specialist? I got 2 bulbasaurs with naughty and rash nature. Having trouble with deciding which one to keep...
Yes it's good.
Thanks! I was having hard time deciding with other ingredient finders too
Is there any resource to tell what the odds are for the level 60 ingredient?
For example I have a slowpoke with tails at lv 30 and lv 60. I want to see what the chances are of having it for both vs. Just lv. 30
No resources to specifically answer your question. However most pokemon (not all) have guaranteed first ingredient, 2 possible options for second ingredient, and 3 possible options for third ingredient.
So it's 1/2*1/3 for double tails assuming all ingredients have same chance to roll.
So you're saying to run double arcanine amd triple slowking?
Lol get out
If you were being serious though there are so many problems with this suggestion. However I have heard some people suggest an alternative option which I don't agree with. Have a team with 1 arcanine and 1 slowking. In the morning collect your other 3 productions and leave only slowking and arcanine. Then trigger arcanine for skill and it's 50% proc on slowking. I do NOT recommend this because there's also a 50% chance to proc arcanine itself. With a whole team that should only be 20% chance to proc itself.
Other problems with suggesting 2 arcanines and 3 slowkings
1 When are you gonna farm berries then? Berries are the meta in this game. Unless you use a throwaway week just to farm tails this strategy will not be viable.
2 let's say you do have a throwaway week. Second week what if you hit desserts and no way to use tails and it's just hoarding your bag space for a whole week that other dishes need?
3 Slowkings are indeed slow and benefit most from Extra Helpful than fast mons but the drop is still only x1 tail. That's actually worse in raw numbers than x3 potatoes. The advantage in tail is more power for less pot space. This strategy would be a little better if there were a tails ingredient specialist which there currently isn't (until L60 unlock for ditto).
The best alternative to your suggestion is Vaporeon/Eevee with skill focus on their ingredient magnet. However it still is rng with 15 possibilities for ingredients. Magnet picks 3 of them and at L6 provide 7 of each.
On average you need to proc magnet 5 times to get 7 tails. So unless your vaporoen is perfect it's also a slow tail farming strategy, although possibly the fastest way without wasting a slot for slowpoke line and may save you a slot for another ing specialist.
You should open the app often to collect vaporeon if you run this strategy. It's not for the people who open the app 3 times or less.
@@Bropenings i dont understand, how this affects the odds on whom the ability will proc???
I should clarify swapping out 3 pokemon but leaving the team slots EMPTY
Whats your take on dual pokemon? I find it easier to get ingredient mon with berry finding. Could this work on ingredient mon like gengar whos really fast or even something like tyranitar?
It's situational because not all ingredient finders find at the same rate. For Haunter it's such a power house for ingredients it's better for it to focus, but for Tyranitar who has the rare dragon berries BFS might be the best
BFS is arguably even better on ingredients mons because it increasing their berry production by 100% whereas it only increases berry yield by 50% on berry specialists.
The downside of course is that the points you get from berries from an ingredient pokémon will generally be lower than you get from a berry one, but in the long run with levelled up meals, especially in the future when pot size is increased, the ingredients are meant to make up for this.
I personally like BFS in almost all situations.
Berry meta is real. It's especially good on favourite islands even if it were on a skill or ingredients specialist.
I tend to have max ingredient bag often even though I run many dual specialists.
Yes it's true, my BFS gengar doesn't give as much herbs and mushrooms as I'd like but I know where I'm not getting the ingredients I need, it's already compensated for by berry drops.
@@Bropenings I don't like that your statement is correct. What's the point of ingredient mons at all,? Why not just focus on max berry power and endeavor to afk all day?
Serebii has natures listed as 10%. Where did you get 20%?
Serebii has been inaccurate for this information since the start of the game. It's just common knowledge now I don't remember who found the numbers at first. You can actually calculate the differences yourself if you look at the frequency and exp changes yourself. Nature effects are:
Speed of help 10%
Ing finder 20%
Main skill chance 20%
Exp is 18%
Energy recovery is 20%
Serebii is a great source of information on most other things are though.
If they have ing finding up but speed of help down-- is it worth it?
I would say ingredient up is more important than speed up for ingredient specialists. However, speed down is never ideal.
Awesome content as always
So if something has ing down nature but with ing finder up M we will still get a net positive gain from the mon right? Let’s say we find a really good ing mon with very good subskills like ing finder M and inventory ups but is ing finder down nature, does the nature kill it completely or is it still worth the investment?
Apparently it depends on the mon, like gengar you would like all ing up you can get but with golem that isnt the most important thing, all cuz the ing ratio for the specific mon and your specific need for ingredients for that week. I mean for example I have a Blastoise with ing down nature but she has BFS so she compensate in some circumstances but when i really need milk i run a warturtle with ing up nature, it gives me like 2 or even 3 times the milk faster but he contibutes half in berry strenght, what im trying to say is that both mons are really good at something completely different, so you want a wide rooster of mons that can fit in most scenarios you could end up. I hope this ramble helps you at least a little.
@@fabianhm77 hmm interesting. Thanks for the reply
On Serebii it says the natures up it by 10% not 20%
So Ingredient finder M 1.36, nature down 0.8 so (1.36*0.8=1.088) which means if your pokemon rate is 20% it will to up to 21.76... that's so sad 😭
10% for speed nature. 20% for the others. @@shadowriotx0069
This sis so confusing. Everyday, I get a good Squirtle with either an amazing nature and terrible subskils like research exp bonus with Sleep exp or I get amazing subskills, and a ingredient finding down nature. Starting to hate this lol
Nearly 50 caught and not even one Squirtle is worth investing in as a Milk farmer
Hmm, this is tricky. I have a Totodile with Berry Finder S at level 10 and a helping speed up nature, but it gets Ingredient Finger S at level 25. It's probably not a huge difference (about 5% more ingredients), but still kind of a bummer
I'd need to look at the rest of the stats to know if it's good enough. But BFS will outstrip the IFS problem especially if u keep it at max inventory.
Thank you so much! @@Bropenings
That's really dumb that it's a different ingredient rate per species.. It should just be a set rate for ingredient specialists vs. berry and skill specialists.. No wonder my Gengar has been terrible at getting me mushrooms most of the time.
The fact that even some ingredient specialists can gather ingredients only 40% of the time AT BEST is just.. WHY?
Don't forget berry is the meta!
Do you want an ingredient specialist to have a good Ingredient Count/rate or a better Total Strength?
Both. They're not exactly the same thing. But are related.
Is it just me or (1.18+0.36) at 10:43 looks like a weird sum to calculate
I'm guessing it's just (0.18 + 0.36 + 1)
ya@@СергейПетров-р6р5ш
Yes you got it.
The multiplier is 1.18 or 1.36 for IFS or IFM respectively. But if it's both you can't just add 1.18+1.36. It would be 1+(0.18+0.36).
Thank you for confirming with the math
I always felt the natures effected it a bit more
