Terminator 2 - T-800 FX - An Interview with Stan Winston
    FULL STORY: bit.ly/Termina...
For Terminator 2: Judgment Day, in addition to the T-1000 puppets and effects, Stan Winston Studio created a series of appliance makeups for Arnold Schwarzenegger that would reveal the 800-series Terminator's deterioration through the course of the story, as well as animatronic Schwarzenegger puppets for gags that couldn't be performed by the actor or his stunt man, and full-sized, articulated endoskeletons for an opening future war sequence.

I would have loved to meet Mr. Winston. I was born in 87, but by the time i was starting 2nd grade i had rented the VHS of T1 so many times the man who owned the video store GAVE me the VHS. He figured i'd paid for it several times over. I've known the movie word for word most of my life! I feel i owe a thanks to Mr. Winston for making the film possible!

@@FreeThinkAlways haha, but nowhere in the T2 movie ending did the movie say any of the things you are refuting. You just have Sarah conner voice over that the future is uncertain again and Judgment day has been averted. That's her perogative, so you could easily slap another sequel onto that, or another, or yet more sequels. Sadly all those sequels kinda sucked, and T1 isn't NEARLY as gooda movie as T2. T1 is just more gorey and pulpy, if that's your kind of thing that's fine. but objectively T2 has a much stronger script, cinematography, pretty much solves time travel paradox (very few movies have this), amazing sfx and practical effects. Character buildup. ti's all much better. (Especially the time travelling is done very nicely. Most people just preferred ahnuld shoot a bunch of cops in T1, which was a fun action romp, but it pales in comparisson to T2's bombastic and perfectly choreographed chase scenes.

    • @jessejeffries7883

This is the pinnacle of filmmaking in my opinion. Practical effects , cgi when absolutely needed . Practical still looks more real . This is why T2 stands the rest of time and still looks perfect, better than later sequels. When I watch the newer sequels I feel like I am watching a movie. When I watch T2 and T1 I feel like I am a witness to events that happened. They both feel absolutely real.

Respect both cgi and practical effects.but doing stunt without cgi is more dangerous and athletic for the actor or double.veteran actors are more badass than today

I don't actually have disrespect for CGI as long as it's used for expansion of creativity, but I also have so much respect for how much these people could achieve without it back in the day.

Tim Miller should have taken note of this, instead of gobbling up Dark Fate with so much CGI.

CGI only used when necessary back in the day. For sci fi, spaceships doesn't always need to be CGI. CAD/CAM and 3D printer can give you customs parts to make miniatures and digital compositing, motion tracking and camera tricks should help you. No need for complex CGI or 3D animation.

The one thing that always bothered me when watching T2 was the fact that the robotic eye didn't move along with Arnold's real eye. Then I give it a pass because I remember "oh wait, this was 1991."
Everything else is phenominal, LOOK at the puppetry on the endoskeleton!!

A good excuse could be that the eye was actually damaged from the beating the t800 took.

My #2 fav movie, but in the last 5-10 years for some reason I notice his makeup/red eye at the end, when he points to his head and says there's one more chip it looks worse then the T1 eye.It looked like a $1.99 mask from the 99 cent store.

Sometimes CGI works but if you can do it, it looks good and you aren't lazy with it. Practical effects are Where it's at. "T2" and "the thing" is still my favorites when talking about practical effects.
