    The acrylic durable from Johno’s has been a consistent performer overall, I have no complaints from it in white or light tints. The darker tints are a bit lacking in opacity at times, but there’s far worse at far higher prices.
    Recently did a whole 8 bed property in nothing but this stuff based on client request, and I’ve had no dramas. Last week I did a whole house in F&B (The customer specifically didn’t want a colour match, only F&B) and I quoted accordingly knowing I’d be dealing with flashing and crap coverage, the will to live was lost after the first room. To any of the public reading this, trust your tradesmen. We don’t just want to use the good stuff to increase the cost; it’s a better finish, with better durability and quicker turnaround for you in the end. Time is money for you and for us, give us the tools and we will give you a stellar result.

    Use it all the time and struggle to find a bad word to say other that it can be a bit shiny for a matt so I tend to consider where it’s going, how the light may hit it and advise the client accordingly. I find it the best in terms of moisture resistance too.

    Moved over from that years ago.. It burnishes when rubbed..cracks on caulks. Needs guardz over linking paper or the seems will crack. Coverage ain't fantastic when compared to cleanable matt & ultralast which are never more than 2 coats on most jobs..but it does have a good spread rate and I think they've added an anti mould chemical in there now for bathrooms & kitchens.
    Granted its slightly cheaper but if the customer wants something cleanable I'd look at others for the added benifits and time saved and ease of use.
    If it's just a case of the standard room and a slight upgrade from vm I'd go perfect matt hands down if you've got a decent account.
    All my opinion obviously 🎉

    Professional decorator up north. My thoughts…use to use it a few years ago and till I used in in my own hallway and came to wash away finger marks, I left a mark where rubbed with a cloth, months after curing.
    Maybe they have changed it but it’s just not durable for me, I’ve heard a few comments on the forum saying this aswell, it was mixed into a farrow and ball colour, just a generic grey like ammonite or something.
    Just my thoughts and it’s each to our own, just be careful selling it to customers as wipeable/durable etc

      Yeah all the scrubby matts used to do that up until a couple of years ago. It was something to do with the wiping action actually polishing the acrylic binders in the coating and creating a flash point. Basically buffing it up. I think they all still do this to a certain extent if you scrutinise them in a certain light, the only one I've used that doesn't is Benjamin Moore Scuff X matte.

    Got this on two bedroom walls - mixed to a light grey it’s nice and flat but a small mark wiped away shows a blotch so not as durable as expected. In a dark blue on a feature wall there is flashing where filler was used on the seams of the wall
    rock lining underneath despite 3 coats and more sheen than expected for a matt. In summary, good colour match, better in light colour, less so in dark colour. Done 12 months ago so current formulation. Next time I’m going for Dulux Heritage Velvet Matt.

    It does come in as one of the flattest Matt washables amongst the big 3 trade brands and their colour matches are usually very good. Disadvantages - opacity can be poor in bold F&ball colour matches and their own bold colours. I've seen 3,4 & 5 coats on these on occasions. Washability-wise, Clean Extreme is far superior for the same money imo. I note that Phil said wipeable, not washable. That's about right.
    Aqua guard probably does what it says on the tin but runs like the clappers so slow labour-wise and doesn't last on hand rails either.
    So, like Phil, it's nothing to write home about.

    • @ProfessionalPainterDecorator
      @ProfessionalPainterDecorator  8 месяцев назад

      F&B card room green, mix in it and opacity was two coats over white.
      So wasn't bad.
      Dark colours like the f&B OffBlack I've used in it, two coats, but don't look to hard at it, any dark colour can be critical.

  • @davidkoch563

    I use to it everyday, it’s now no where near as good as it use to be. It will ruin your brush and roller sleeves within a few months of using it most days. The darker bases are almost like a soft Sheen finish and certainly isn’t durable either, wipe it with a lightly damp microfibres cloth and it will leave a shadow of where you’ve rubbed. The cleanable Matt is a way better product

      Got to admit Phil I was taught to pour from front of can at college in 1989.. So it's not new

      Agreed. The most important info is on the back! If the front of the tin is clean, that's a problem!

    Wow I couldn’t disagree more 😂 I find this too shiny and flashes horribly. And not durable at all…Colour matches are very good though.

      @@ProfessionalPainterDecorator didn’t mean to come across as a dick btw! Big fan of your RUclips stuff. And definitely not saying you’re wrong. Just that my experience has been so different. I’ve had too many customers say it’s not holding up, for me to have huge amount of faith in it. On the other hand I’ve had nothing but positive comments from jobs where I had used Optiva 3/5 or Isomat premium (which I what use most of the time now). Ceilings I’m on AR2 bandwagon or MacPhersons Eclipse if it’s off the shelf.

      @@maulstar1 lol. I didn't read it like that, don't worry.
      Eclipes is a cheap contract matt paint, false opacity , comes off on a damp sponge when wiped. AR2, Isomat Ceiling paint etc don't.

    Why would you paint a ceiling with a durable paint…are you expecting many hand marks and knocks etc? 😂

    • @paulobryano
      @paulobryano 8 месяцев назад +3

      Because you can just use the same paint on the ceiling as the walls. No cutting in as such from the ceiling to the wall as there's not even a different sheen
