- Just what is a Kadjar?
Far from being an obscure French phrase for something, or the name of a seldom-spotted mystical creature, Renault tells us that ‘Kadjar’ is a blending of ‘quad’ and ‘agile’.
Translated, it’s meant to give you the idea that this SUV is capable and sporty, but we reckon its most important attribute for Australian buyers is its size.
See, the Kadjar is a big small SUV… or a small medium SUV… and it slots into Renault's line-up between the very small Captur, and the larger Koleos.
What you need to know is that it slots into a narrow gap between popular ‘medium’ SUVs like the Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, Honda CR-V and Nissan X-Trail, and the smaller alternatives, like the Mitsubishi ASX, Mazda CX-3 and Toyota C-HR.
So, it sounds like the ideal middle-ground for many buyers, and wearing a Renault badge, it has some of that Euro appeal to draw folks looking for something a little different.
So is it the master stroke? The perfectly-sized SUV that Renault needs to be front of mind for buyers?
We went to the launch of the three-variant Kadjar range to find out.

This isn't a rival to the smaller Peugeot 2008, the Renault Captur is. This is a rival to the Peugeot 3008.

UK viewer. I pretty much agree with the review although I have a 1.5 Turbo Diesel manual. Mine is bottom of the range, seems you get a bit more for your money in Aus as I don't have front sensors. Had a top of the range Kadjar (1.5 Turbo Diesel) on lease, with Bose. Only advantage was fancy gadgets. Bose wasn't noticeably better than stock audio. Built in sat nav is awful. I use carplay instead. Although I don't have sat nav on current kadjar. I get 54mpg average, and I disagree about feedback. I'm confident with mine at "high" speed cornering. It's cheaper than the QQ here too. Cabin is very quiet, which is a distinct disadvantage when you have three kids in the back...
Can you achieve 60mpg on a long run?
@@yowhaatsup '19 reg S Edition auto diesel. I've had 70mpg on a 100 mile, 60mph motorway drive. Otherwise averaging 52. It's been a good car, does all I need. Has super comfy seats, the only gripe I have is auto box lurches when moving off. Ordered a Tarraco auto diesel, if it's as good a car as Kadjar I'll be happy.
I have this car, but you cannot compare it with the Peugeot 2008, so wrong, you should compare it with the 3008 which I had before and I am happy with my Kadjar, 4 years already and I have never had any issues at all. Also in the video is mentioned that is better suited for commuting...come on! I travelled with this car many times around Europe and also from Scotland to Poland then Poland to the Mediterranean and come back and is really economic to run and because it has a lot of space, I slept many times in the car with a nice mattress. Not a single issue :)

??? It's got more power than its competitors. It shares the M282 which is found in the Mercedes A-Class.

The kadjar is fitted with the edc dual clutch wet transmission which is trouble free , its made by a german company

It is not . The Kadjar was introduced back in 2015 in Europe..... It already sold about 500.000 cars.
The French Suv is more modern and prenium than every american suv for a good price. Look the Peugeot 3008, the best seller in Europe. Also the new Peugeot 2008 with the first 3D virtual cockpit, or the Renault captur 2, Ds7 crossback with his futuristic Parisian design for 40.000$

I short of get what you are saying in the way that it’s curved rather then a lot of the boxier designs that are happening now.
When you watch from Europe US made cars tend to look old
Just get a Peugeot 3008 best in class
Also comes with the price tag though.

That's a problem with the CVT gearbox, which is totally different in fundamental design to this DCT or a standard torque converter automatic. Do your research.
