    Psylocke in X:Men Apocalypse looks absolutely perfect, but she isn't a character so much as an action figure; she has maybe two lines of dialogue, explaining absolutely none of her motivations. She definitely has lots of badass action moments, but they didn't really even try to flesh her out as a person.

      @BBmetalhead04 8 лет назад +7

      True, though to be fair at least it was a better representation of the character powerwise and lookwise than her appearance in The Last Stand.
      *Spoilers for Apocalypse*
      She does end up surviving Apocalypse and just leaves, so maybe she'll return in future movies and get development (maybe in that X-force movie Fox has been talking about).

      opesnkies11 - It's always been complicated. Because of different writers, different creators, different ideas. People get fired and someone else takes over with a different ideas. Even with all those complex writing there is still an average of logical continuum in each characters stories that is pretty good to follow.

    Munn at least physically looks perfect as Psylocke. Like, she looks like she jumped straight out of the pages, so I do kind of hope they bring her back if (or rather when) they continue the film series and give her more to do. They at least left it very open at the end.

      Kiyosuki- u need to look at her comics AND the movie side-by-side. Movie DIDNT make her look as good. The comics made me wanna see her more in the 90's, the movie just made her unlikeable.

    • @911awakening
      @911awakening 3 года назад +13

      It's funny you should say this because Munn dived into the character & stood up for the character but the directors were completely clueless on the storyline and this was poorly managed and made. Munn should definitely get a second opportunity to reprise the role as complex as psylocke the character is, she's definitely up there in the ranks with fan fav

    I kinda wish they'd have psylocke interact with captain Britain more because, despite the fact that they're twin siblings, they don't actually talk that much. I just think it would be cool to see more interactions between the two, with maybe psylocke checking in on her brother or either of them coming to each other for advice with certain situations.

  • @jeffersonian000
    @jeffersonian000 8 лет назад +51

    Great break down of the history of Ms. Betsy Braddock, however, the fact that she is not a mutant was missed. It was covered in the old Captain Britain comics that Betsy and her brothers are decedents of the same race of extra-dimensional aliens as Merlin. Her abilities have more to do with how she understands her abilities to work, rather than how they actually work, which is the ability to alter reality. Her older brother Jack's insanity unlocks his raw potential, While Brian's inner focus resulted in his superhero physique and powers. In Betsy's case, it was her psyche.

    I was introduced to Psylocke when she wore armor and had curly purple hair a little before the whole siege perilous thing. Didn't really like the new look for a long time. Until i went back and read the new mutant issues with her, giving a better understanding of her inner motivations n stuff. After that i saw how an uber sexy killer ninja badass fit her. So I like it now. If she is ever used more in movies, i'd like to hear her talk with a british twang, that'd be sweet.

    With regards to her role in the movie, she is completely forgettable. She's given little screen time or lines so there's no way to care about her character.

      She isn't forgettable. She actually stands out. She just didnt have as much of a role in the plot. But it was more of her introduction.

      Eh, Quicksilver, Cyclops, Jean, and Magneto stood out and left an impression whether good or ill. I will say, they got Psylocke outfit and the visual effects of her power correct. Nothing that actually makes the character great from the comics was included. Though that's been a running theme with most of the characters in the x-men movies with the exception of Wolverine, Xavier, and Magneto.

      Remy Melanie Like I said. It was more of n introduction. It was obvious were going to get more of her when she gave everyone the stink eye.

    One of my all time favorite X-Men characters. Great video.
    I'll let you know how I feel about her after I see the movie. I'm skeptical but I'm trying to keep an open mind about it.

    I'm glad that we finally get a true, PROPER Psylocke in the movies!! And she freaking looks the part too! Great job for the costume designer! Seriously I'm often so tired of comic book movies where instead of making "comic book" style outfits, they slap them in generic looking leather uniforms >coughcough

    • @caseyfranek2946

      I'll disagree. The Psylocke from the movie was little more than a cardboard cutout. The look and the psyblade they got (but wtf psywhip?!?), but they completely failed to develop her at all. The mutant at the very beginning who shielded Apocalypse was better developed than Psylocke.
      I'll give them kudos for at least including the costume and power, but they failed to include Psylocke in this movie.

    munn did about as well as she could have in that role. she was kind of just a henchman and the script didnt allow her character to be fleshed out, or to have much defining screen time

    Psylocke suffered from the same problem all the villains suffered from in the movie. She was under developed and under utilized. If you removed her from the film it would not have changed much of anything. It's sad because Olivia Munn is great and I hope she gets to come back to the character in a script that does the character justice.

    That was lengthy and entertaining but you missed a spot...when she was resurrected with that crimson stuff from the Ancient one that gave her shadow and teleportation and that other time she had telekinesis instead for a power also.

    Hey Rob if you see this, it would be dope to see you make a what if story on Psylocke, but here's a small idea to run with. At first I thought it was stupid to have this convoluted backstory, but then I got to thinking:
    You have Betsy and Kwannon who now have half of each other and are now psychically locked. Hence they *BOTH* identify as *Psylocke* due to the fact they're psychically locked with one another. Then in an effort to ease the psychic torture of being split, and due to the fact each of them are now identifying with this ONE identity (Psylocke), they seek to kill each other to claim the 'title'.
