There was a time when I thought attack of the clones was my least favorite thing in Star Wars and that it couldn’t get much worse. Oh how wrong I was
Bro finally continued this series 78 years later lol
I was simply honing my craft
Somehow Dylan returned
At the end of the day, he clapped the cheeks. Mission accomplished.
I enjoyed this video. Regarding 9:52-10:12 however, I think (because of you're disliking of the sequel trilogy) you've forgotten how frequently great the music was! Rey's theme, 'Jedi Steps', 'The March of the Resistance', and Kylo's theme were all terrific original compositions.
As for how they're used within the movies, I also thought there were tons of great moments where the music enhanced certain scenes/sequences:
Think about the ending of The Force Awakens, for example, when Rey flew to Luke's location and handed him the lightsaber: Rey's theme bleeds nicely into 'Jedi Steps' which transitions into the force theme. That moment gave many people chills in the cinema and the music was a key component of that.
Also in The Force Awakens, when Kylo looks at the Darth Vader helmet and monologues to it - the Imperial March playing at the end of the scene makes it more impactful.
Also, when Leia and Han reunite for the first time - Leia's theme underscores their interaction nicely.
And, of course, when Rey force-grabs the lightsaber at the end of the confrontation between Finn, Rey, and Kylo: great use of the Force theme intertwined with Rey's theme ('March of the Resistance' is effectively used earlier in the sequence too).
I won't keep going on, but music also really enhances The Last Jedi, such as during the Rey and Kylo vs the Preatorian Guard fight scene (and the death of Snoke leading up to it). Additionally, Williams' entire 'The Battle of Crait' composition is really impressive and juggles so many musical themes effectively!
I liked The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi (despise The Rise of Skywalker) and I know you dislike them; It's completely fair, especially as many of your critiques come down to things you personally find stupid, unnecessary or out of character (many of which don't bother me or imo contribute to the themes of the movie). But, I think highlighting the music, in particular, is quite an unfair way of attacking the sequel trilogy when I would argue music is the *only* thing that is consistently great throughout all 9 Star Wars films.
True. I unlike most people actually like what they were going for with Rey’s character. It kinda flips the idea of family that is so important for Star Wars on its head because she doesn’t feel like she has a family literally or metaphorically. She’s searching for meaning. I also really appreciate the space chase scene in the last Jedi because even tho it is logically very dumb it really gives the movie a timeless and fascinating quality that was amplified by watching it in the theater. I also really like how they made her not related to any powerful bloodline in that movie and the fact that she was abandoned by her parents as that contributed to Rey’s character traits. Also, the throne room scene gave me frisson in the theater although idk if it was a good idea long term. Honestly, for me the last Jedi is the best movie of the trilogy and I somewhat like tfa. But I agree TROS is trash. Love the prequels too
Oh also Luke was treated horribly his arc makes no sense
@@DagobahDruid I agree that Rey's parents not being anybody special was a really interesting choice for her character (until Rise of Skywalker completely ruined it of course...) For her, in that moment, hearing that she doesn't 'belong' in the world and was actually purposefully abandoned was probably the toughest tribulation she could have experienced in that moment - plus, it added some nice mysticism to the force.
For me, the key theme of The Last Jedi was failure and learning from past mistakes. That is why I *do* think what they did with Luke actually worked in the film. He was the only one who learnt from his mistakes and thus, by the end of the film - in addressing Kylo and buying the Resistance time to leave - he became a figure of inspiration. That was, of course, symbolised by the boy at the end, highlighting that Luke's impact has inspired people all across the galaxy. I genuinely believe if The Rise of Skywalker was good, this trilogy would have aged tremendously well because of how strong and thematically consistent The Last Jedi is...
I also find your analysis of the Snoke scene very interesting - saying you enjoyed it in the moment, but reflect on whether it was a good decision in the long term. Personally, this is another example for me of The Rise of Skywalker tarnishing the good aspects of The Last Jedi. I think The Last Jedi ended the film in a very bold place: Snoke being dead allows (an unhinged) Kylo and Hux (who now completely despises Kylo) to be the *sole* leaders of the First Order - that could have been so interesting to explore in the next movie! By the end of TLJ, the resistance is basically the size of a small classroom haha, so that also completely shakes up the status quo... So much could have been done; I hate just thinking about it.
I think The Force Awakens set up the new characters well whilst tastefully utilising the characters from the original trilogy; The Last Jedi played with the (almost archetypal) new characters and subverted their roles in really interesting ways; The Rise of Skywalker... just undid all the hard work of the first two. That's my take on the trilogy!
@@michaelangelo2192 That’s a great take! Gold Man’s vid on TFA made me appreciate the stuff that was set up in that movie more. I just watched gold man’s vid about why Luke in the last Jedi was the way he was and it actually makes a lot of sense.
Also, if you haven’t already seen it, PRISM on RUclips has a really cinematic remake of the sequels that I think is also really interesting you might want to check it out, it’s quite different but still pretty interesting! Anyway, have a good one 🙂
@@DagobahDruid Rey is not really a good character. She's very powerful in the force despite having no training, so yeah people are going to think she comes from an important family. These movies are about the Skywalkers, after all.
Nor does she have a character arc of any sort. She is the same person across all three movies.
Having grown up in Germany, I obviously didn't speak English as well as I do now, cause I was like 10, when that movie came out. Maybe it was the usually awful German translation, being performed well, but I remember enjoying it. Our translations might suck ass, but we've got some amazing voice actors, who might have saved the performances.
So the reason Jango uses a poison dart was to lead the Jedi to Kamino so they can discover the clone army. It was all apart of the plan to set up the Clone Wars
Coincidentally, I rewatched the prequels over the past few days lol so they are fresh in my mind. It's probably an unpopular opinion but I really like Attack of the Clones. It isn't perfect but there is a lot that I love. After rewatching it, I'm still baffled as to how anyone could call it worse than Rise of Skywalker. At least Attack of the Clones is an actual movie. Rise of Skywalker feels like a series of events ticked off a checklist with some of the worst "fan service" ever put to screen
After re-watching Attack of The Clones I can confidently say I like it better than any of the sequel trilogy films.
Definitely The Last Jedi in my opinion, so many characters were wasted and new ideas thrown away.
I see your "last jedi" and raise it with "the rise of Palpatine". (I refuse to call her Skywalker)
No.
Because everything Disney's had a hand in exists save for Star Tours in the 1980s and early 2000s.
(whispers to myself in the background): "attack of the clones is my favorite star wars film...."
No, the title belongs to The Last Jedi
Nah, the sequels are the worst I don't even consider them canon lol
No, it's not the worst because last jedi & Rises the skywalker exist. I do not care what anybody says. You can't get worse than those, but it's not the greatest. It does have some good moments And some entertaining battle scenes, and some good droid and creature designs.
Dude, TLJ exists. Clones doesn't even come close.
Aaand Unsubbed. Gross ass prequel bashers is why we got soul less remakes like the force awakens and tlj bleh 🤢
Just because the sequels are ass doesn't mean you have to play pretend and act as if Episode 2 is a good movie, lol, regardless, to each their own, you can't really dictate what Star Wars films people like or dislike
@@dolier2802The thing is: Episode 2 may not be the best in the Star Wars saga, but it's leagues above Disney's offerings by a nautical mile and a half.
Yes. It is awful in every single way. I think The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker are bad, but at least the acting is good and there is some solid direction and cinematography here and there, the same cannot be said about Attack of the Clones. And good lord, the "love story" and dialogue are just pain inducing.
TPM is far worse at least AOTC can be laughably bad at times and does have decent story while episode I is just bland and boring
Nice
It sucks the BIG one!
the arkham knight stream’s abrupt end broke dylan so severely that he decided to continue this series. cannot wait for the revenge of the sith vid in 2027!
In my opinion Episode 2 isn't great but I feel it's overall better and more cohesive than episode 1, episode 1 just comes in clutch with the Darth Maul duel at the end to make the film have a more lasting impression
I still prefer the Phantom Menace. Not much in ep1 is outright bad, more so just boring, but ep2 has so much that is just awful.
I think it's the other way around. Episode 1 is a pretty consistently decent Lucasfilm adventure, kinda feels like Indiana Jones with Jedi, and then it has a really good ending. Attack of the Clones is so wildly inconsistent that it causes major whiplash.
@@ZoomerUnion
AOTC has a better story
Episode I is just boring politics until the Last duel AOTC is way more than that
@@ayaankhan-eh1xy Phantom Menace isn't boring politics it's about Naboo being a battleground both politically and literally and the Jedi trying to save it
@@ZoomerUnion
AOTC is far more interesting other than the love plot everything was far better
Am I the only one who didn't think attack of the clones was that bad. i really don't know why people hate it.
love the more scripted and structured video
Anyone know what game that game footage was from at the end of the video?
I used the Movie Duels mod for Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy.
Hahaha attack of the clones was my favorite star wars film when I was a kid. But now I rank attack of the clones in my top 3 for star wars films hahahha
I've grown to appreciate the film and thematically speaking it's pretty much perfect but yeah it's ok not bad but not up there with episodes 3,4,&5
lol no, it was terrible and so were the prequels but those were oscar level films compared to disney star wars.
Based obi-wan is crazy
Nathan Hall! Ummmmm…..Jack Thompson played Cliegg Lars.
Interesting take on reviewing Attack of the Clones after 22 years. Jango Fett, Count Dooku, Dexter Jester and young Boba are my favorite characters of the movie. In terms of plot, many scenes like Anakin's slaughter of Tuskens, the Battle of Genosis, and why Dooku turned to the Darkside when he talks to Obi-wan could've been longer. Jango Fett has a prequel game before Attack of the Clones called, Bounty Hunter that explains how he became the template of the Clone army. The movie is better than last Disney + shows like Ahsoka, Obi-wan Kenobi, Mando Season 3, and the entire Sequel trilogy.
This movie is not better than Mando season 3 or Ahsoka.
@@ZoomerUnion disagree those are forgettable AOTC has a lot of great things
@ayaankhan-eh1xy I think you're saying that because you probably watched AotC more recently and your memory of TPM is hazy. The podracing sequence is cool, the ship battles, fighting on the trade federation station and naboo battles as well, etc are all very good sequences even if the plot (which I'd argue is rather simple and strong) doesn't suit your fancy
Nice channel!! Love your mods 😍😍💓💓💓
A easy hard no far from the worse
Definitely worth the wait!
Yes yes it is
I’d say Finn and Rose and Reylo are far worse romances than Anakin and Padme. lol
Sid & Nancy is a better live story than TLJ
9th is the worst
Attack Of The Clones > The Phantom Menace , Rise Of Skywalker's, TFA, TLJ and Solo
Out of the original saga yes attack of the clones is the worst movie. If we include the sequel trilogy I would put the force awakens right above it and then rise of skywalker and the last Jedi at the very bottom.
The Last Jedi takes the title.
Tbh I never hated Clone wars despite its flaws. I had a lot of fun watching it.
Before I start the video I’m going to say no.
The Last Jedi is the worst. Out of the prequels I think Phantom Menace is the worst.
There's force awakens, the last jedi and rise of Skywalker.
Yes. Yes it is.
Phantom Menace is far worse its just Bland and boring until the last fight
@@ayaankhan-eh1xy Phantom Menace is the best Prequel by far.
ATTACK OF THE CLONES is the boring one.
IT’S ONE OF THE MOST BORING MOVIES I’VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE.
