  • Jonathan breaks down why Attack of the Clones was purposely cringe and was intended to feel that way. He explains how George Lucas actually wrote it with a stroke of genius despite the mixed feelings on the dialogue.

    I agree. One of the things that people fail to understand about the Star Wars prequel trilogy is that the prequel trilogy was inspired by the Nixon Administration’s actions and Adolf Hitler’s rise to power. The Star Wars prequel trilogy is based on George Lucas’s life in terms of how he felt about Marcia Lucas when he was married to her. The Star Wars prequel trilogy was written as an expression of George Lucas himself. George Lucas got into spaceships out of cars going really fast. People hate the Star Wars prequel trilogy because they fail to understand that it’s based on George Lucas’s life. When you’re telling a story you’re telling a story using tools. You don’t use tools to tell a story. Star Wars the prequel trilogy was inspired by the Nixon administration, George Lucas himself, Adolf Hitler’s rise to power, The Vietnam War, and mythology. The Star Wars sequel trilogy was just inspired by Star Wars. The reason why the Star Wars sequel trilogy was bad is because it was made by Star Wars prequel trilogy haters.

      @@coruscantcourier People have forgotten that Star Wars was created as an expression of George Lucas himself. Star Wars was always inspired by politics. I’m writing a Star Wars story and it’s going to be inspired by politics. I plan to make this into a movie one day and it’s going to be a live action movie. My story for Star Wars talks about the light side and the dark side of the force. It takes during the time of the Galactic Empire. The story is also going to be inspired by my own life and the lives of my family members because me and my family reflect the things that inspired Star Wars. My Star Wars story is going to have George Lucas’s outlook on Star Wars. It’s not going to be like Star Wars Acolyte. My story is going to be like George Lucas’s Star Wars. No LGBTQ will be involved and there will be no racism involved. My Star Wars story will talk about the issues of political corruption, abuse of power, and the loss of self control.

    George Lucas is as subtle as a Wookie losing a game of Holo-Chess to an R2 Unit. What Lucas was trying to accomplish was obvious, but he had too many ideas and tried haphazardly to make everything work when he needed to boil down the soup.
    Anakin lacking social skills is an absurd notion on all levels. The Jedi are guardians of peace, trained in diplomacy and negotiation. A Knight's lightsaber is blue (at least until the prequels messed that one up), which corresponds to the throat chakra governing speech. If Anakin is anti-social then what was Obi-Wan teaching Anakin between TPM and AOTC? The Jedi Temple was shown to have girls/women in its Order, so I can't buy into the argument there were no women around him.
    Anakin was shown to be quite sociable as a kid in TPM. It was part of his charm, admitted by Lucas as a cheat code to get people to sympathize with Anakin. He was better with the one liners like "space angel" as a kid than he was as a teenager.
    Evolution designed women to be hypergamous. There is no reason why Senator Padme would have a romantic interest in Anakin. He is younger and has no wealth. Women want providers. And I would expect vile politicians, empowered by their political factions, to look down upon the Jedi for professing material detachment since there wouldn't be any political gain from such a relationship. More importantly the one skill politicians own is the art of bloviating, capturing an audience with 0 calorie word salads. Anakin's dialogue amounted to word vomit. He was a liability to her. I checked out of the movie when he confessed to mass murdering women and children. This is what their love story is supposed to be based on? Why didn't Padme react rationally by jumping on a starship to fly across the galaxy to get away from Anakin Sandkiller? Their love story makes no sense.
    AOTC is filled with too many actions and baffling contradictions that defy common sense. The movie's only redeeming quality is Ewan McGregor, but "The Men Who Stare At Goats" and "Doctor Sleep" did more to make him a Jedi than all three prequels combined.

    I wasn't bothered by the dialog in the same way many others were. But I think it should have still been made more clear. Yet, it doesn't save the movie. I think the plot is a mess and many things that happen don't make any sense. At least the movie doesn't explain them properly. So for me, this is still the worst movie from the prequels even when I like it more than many others do.

      @@coruscantcourier The whole Sifo-Dyas and assassination plotlines lead nowhere. How the Jedi rushed into the Arena with no proper plan. The Tusken slaughter gets forgotten. Who ist Dooku And what's his Point? Why does Padme think It's a good Idea to go to Geonosis? And even the romance looks a bit isolated. A Lot of stuff was cut in the movie and I think Dooku got invented very late, so these might be reasons. Still, Ibwas very confused after I watched the movies the first few times.

    • @coruscantcourier
      @coruscantcourier  18 дней назад

      @Bundeskaiser we agree on all these points. Dooku was a substitution for the original plan (Darth Jar Jar), so yeah it wasn't cohesive at all. The Clone Wars series had to fill in the Sifo-Diyas plot line for that reason. And it did a good job.
      My brother and I originally thought Sifo Dyas was a code name for Qui-Gon since it happened around the same time 🤣

      @@coruscantcourier I thought that the long neck Jedi (Yarael Poof) we see in Episode 1 and who mysteriously disappeared afterwards is Sifo-Dyas as the Kaminoan Prime Minister refered to a member of the High Council. As it couldn't be Yaddle and the only other Jedi who disappeared after Episode 1 was Yarael, I thought it's him. So Lucas' idea to remove him to avoid confusion did the exact opposite for me.
      You cannot fix plot holes in Episode 2 with some episodes from a show that is problematic by itself. The movie needs to be written in a way where it explains everything. And the Sifo-Dyas thing is not a minor detail, it's a major part of the story. The whole thing started as some kind of detective story and yet it was dropped once Obi-Wan reaches Geonosis. Which is quite sad as the movie had a lot of potential. And weird dialog is the least of its problems. I will never get why Lucas thought that they should cut the Jedi attack on the droids (droid control ship) as this explains at least some aspects of this brainless fight. When you know that Mundi and Plo lead the attack on the (what they thought is the) droid control ship, they don't look that stupid any more - and we would have seen some of Mundi's and Plo's skills. Even when it's still the question why they didn't wait for Yoda and the clones. He arrived a few minutes later. Let it be an hour, as we obviously don't see the full fight. But would it have been so hard to film a 1 minute scene where Yoda and Windu have a briefing regarding their strategy in this fight?
