When the Type 10 tank is discussed, it is claimed that it has no armor due to its light weight, but it is also much smaller in size than other MBTs. A simple comparison ignoring materials and other factors shows that the weight per size is not much different from MBTs of other countries, or Type 10 tanks are superior. In addition, Japan has some of the world's top-class steel and ceramic technology companies such as Kyocera and Nippon Steel Corporation, so it is normal to think that the quality of materials such as armor is also quite high.

Since it is vulnerable to attacks from above, it should be hybridized and equipped with a laser interceptor. Since the Type 10 is capable of network controlled fire, it is unlikely that it will appear in front of the enemy in the first place...

I do not think that thick armor matters that much anymore, look at how Russia is nocking out Nato's and USA main battle tanks. All with cheap little drones, would hate to be a tank driver in the future, you are just running around with a bulls eye painted on you. Your a goner period.
Japanese MBTs does not need Thick armor because Japanese are wariors. theyre not affriad to get hit nor die, just like in ww2. and Japanese Metal Works Quality are no joke.
So because the Japanese are warriors and the armor in their tank is very thin, if they are hit with another tank's projectile they will survive? Interesting
The armor of this vehicle is allocated to the necessary areas and is not thinly armored. It should also be noted that the vehicle has modular armor, so additional armor can be added.

I have doubts on protection of every tank with weapons like the Javelin, but you have to "Hit" a tank to damage it, and this is for sure harder to hit then most other big, fat and cumbersome western tank.

装甲が薄く、歩兵支援が任務というのは誤り
Fun fact: Japan cramped so much gun powder in their 120mm APFSDS that if loaded into any NATO standard gun, it would literally tear the barrel apart.
that is their SECRET.. Japanenese engineering not Chinese

他国のMBTと比べて高価というわけではない。平均単価ではむしろ安い方だ。

重量と防御力が比例するのは第二次世界大戦の時の話
90式戦車よりも総装甲重量は重いから、当然防御力も向上してる。
