Terrific interior! I have been researching 1900 banks so that I can renovate the bank that I purchased. We are turning it into a coffee shop. Super excited about the project. We have been searching for old relics to put in it. Right now we r looking for a cash register.
We have become not only a Nation but a World of waste in the destroying of our historical architectural history. Very sad and depressing. This building is beautiful.
The small rooms are for the safety deposit boxes so you can take them into that room for privacy and you can look at your documents that type of stuff. wow that's awesome so great to see all this. thank you for the video ❤️❤️❤️
10:29 Wow! I used to work for a bank which was historical prior. It originally opened in 1932 and the vault is exactly like this one! It was called Citizens Bank. It got acquired by First Commercial Bank in 1988 and acquired by First Bank in 1997. The branch was kept until it moved down the street in 2017. The original building was abandoned. At first it was going to turn into a night club but it was cancelled. They removed the vault. Last year 2022, it was turning into a bike shop. It opened up this year 2023. The original vault is gone but the building kept the small basement underneath. I did hated the vault when I worked there years ago. It had such a strong smell inside. This was the original vault in 1932 and I was working there 2009. Now that everything is gone. I have an appreciation for history and preservation. I really wondered how the heck were they able to remove that massive vault.
The Bank Smell inside those old buildings was unique. Anyone else here old enough to remember the smell. Was it just the money, because every other old building had the similar construction but not that smell.
Another awesome video. You really do take some nice footage. You are very calm at heart person. And a nice soft voice too.I think that I would be bricking it myself if I was there. Thank you for your nice reply to one of my other comment. Please stay safe at all times my friend. Keep up the good work looking forward to seeing you soon.....
Wow some of those safe deposit boxes are big enough to hold millions of bucks. Never seen ones so big. I wonder which one has the prize you didn't open.
The structure may be from 1915, but those vault doors are much more recent, probably more like late 40's to late 50's. That would have been a major construction job - those door units will weigh in the 30-40,000 lb range.. The recessed areas in front of the doors are to provide adequate floor clearance for the door swing. Interesting factoid - while the doors can be swung by hand, at that size they are more likely to be operated by an electric motor associated with the hinges. Manual operation is not easy with a door that weight, and not everyone can doo it. The lobby also looks more like a 50's era design. In 1915 you are likely to have seen bronze/brass cages fronting the teller line. The doors inside the vaults with combinations are not safe deposit boxes - they are money chests for isolation of separately accountable cash or other valuables handled by bank employees, such as teller cash. The areas in the vaults with cages are for isolation of people working with separately accountable large volumes of cash, such as payroll preparation. The small numbered cubicles in the safe deposit lobby are box access rooms so people can have private time with their boxes and contents. Private conversations with a banker would take place in the cubicles on the main floor of the bank. I suspect there are even nicer offices not seen in this video, probably off the mezzanine level behind the clock.
These old banks were built like fortresses giving the illusion your money was safe with them. But in reality your money was whisked out of it immediately to be used in creating greater monetary leveraging. The Depression showed just how vulnerable they all were. A lesson for us all.
Police procedurals are big today. This could be used as a filming location for a future episode of the latest police tv show. I don’t know which show specifically, take your pick.
There had to be quite a few travelling crews following the pieces for vaults. That must have paid some good money. I would like to see a video of the manufacturing of some of those vault doors. Especially the round doors, They have to weigh many tons. Just aligning the hinges and getting the gaps around the mating areas correct had to be a PITA.
Those rooms in the basement are where they would take your safe deposit box to. Then you can privately out stuff in and take stuff out of your box. They usually place it in the room and then call you when it's ready
I really hope they don't tear it down I hope they make a museum out of it that is just so beautiful 😍
We hope the same! This is such a beautiful building.
I'm going to buy it& turn into a Art Gallery!!!
This would make for an incredible Art Gallery! Thanks for watching Eva!
Not a lot of wall space. It would be cool for sculpture though

That place is incredible ! Hidden gem doesn't even describe it enough ... that's just real historic monument !
Def a hidden gem! Thanks for watching.
@@abandonedcentral Hi can you tell me where is this place?
You're most certainly correct in saying that they don't build them like this anymore!!! I'm pleased to see that it hasn't been vandalized.
Thanks for watching Robert!

Great Job. Love all the American Flags. So sad this country has lost it's way. Love your videos. Jim
Thanks for watching Jim! Glad you enjoyed it. It's really sad the state that this country is in 😔
Vault doors have always fascinated me. Works of art.

Man,those vault doors are amazing, works of art.
I hope they declare it a historical site so it will be preserved for as long as possible.
This low key look like where Cardi B shot the video for her song "Money" at
Fascinating vid. Thanks!!
Thanks for watching!
That would be a gorgeous gallery space.

Cool building and it's a shame it's unused 👍🇬🇧
Thanks for watching Danny!
Awesome location! 👍
This man understood Banking and was correct, "It is easier to rob by setting up a bank than by holding up a bank clerk." Bertolt Brecht
what a beautiful building.
It really is. I've seen recent photos of it and it looks like they are using the building again for storage currently.
Wow some of those safe deposit boxes are big enough to hold millions of bucks. Never seen ones so big. I wonder which one has the prize you didn't open.
Haha imagine finding 20k left in one of these. Then you look up and see a camera, with a red light flashing. Would you still take the money?
Amazing something like that is just abandoned. I’m sure it could be put to use with all the woodworking and marble and granite.
My thoughts exactly. They usually don't stay abandoned for too long when they look like this. I bet it will get renovated within the next 5 years.
its not normal homeless children.but buildings like this are empty...delite the elite
how did you get in there?
This is beautiful hope something has done with building it amazing inside

Where is the location? It gives it more context by knowing TX, AK??? thx
Awesome content 👌

I’m honestly surprised, even though it’s abandoned, that it didn’t have any alarms.
You and I both haha.

Us either, usually a building this nice would get bought and saved. Hopefully this one gets renovated in time!

Is this building for sale? If I was interested in buying it, where can I find it?

So sad its going to waste
I have a feeling this one will get bought and renovated within the next few years.
Great place!
looks like the bank in dark knight movie
So where is this?
That couldn't have been vaguer. Name of the bank and what city would be nice.
Not really the way this hobby works, sorry Tom.
@@abandonedcentral It's Toledo, by the way.
How do you get in these places surely they are locked ???.
What's the name of the bank? I'd like to look up historic pictures of its operational state.
It's like the bank in GTA 5.
I would love to own and old bank somewhere.
💰💰💰🎉
How crazy would be if there was still money there
Everytime I step into an abandoned bank the first thing I think of is how I hope to find a huge bag of money 😩
@@abandonedcentral I'm live in Arizona how do you find those abandoned buildings that's cool I don't think there's any where I live

This was one of the first videos Bob ever filmed. We've been working on it, thanks for the feedback.
@@abandonedcentral aaah ok, then i get it :) awesome location!!
I assume you are alone while exploring this abandoned bank. If so, why are you whispering?
If security was outside, why would he want to give himself up?
