This abandoned elementary school was built in 1921. It served as an elementary school for grades kindergarten through fifth grade. The school operated for over 90 years before closing its doors for good in 2012. Almost 10 years later, it still sits abandoned and slowly decaying away.

That was a fun ass video. The building has definitely seen its better days but lots of usable stuff in there. They just walked out in 2012 and never came back. The computer room was the coolest room. Old school stuff compared to now, 9 years later

Look at those monitors! UNBELIEVABLE age for being closed in 2012! The oldest one appears to be in the far right corner, closest to the camera at 21:07. It appears to be a VERY early 1990s model. Most appear to be late 1990s CRTs, with a handful of newer early 2000s (i.e. 2003 or so). I would actually wager that most of them, if not all of them, still work. They were extremely robust and long-lasting, for the most part.
I wonder if the actual computer towers were still there. Of course, they don't call them that anymore because they're so compact now hahaha. The reason for the monitors being still there is because of the fact that there was lead in the glass; they're extremely heavy and you can't simply toss them in the trash, as lead is a hazardous material. It would cost more to dispose them than the effort is worth, although they are considered "retro" now and are experiencing a resurgence in popularity.
I'm amazed, no vandalism or graffitti. Looks like they would come back soon. But never did.

It was closed in. 2012 i was my older brothers classroom he was doing confrances and we were chatting the teacher asked me to color a bird house I’m in 6 grade now I was 3 I had good drawing from. Art classes we took with our mom we moved when. It closed to nd
Still another cool find! That one classroom near the end had nearly 50 desks in it! You really don't see sizes that large much any more. Laughed out loud at the mural of the kid "throwing gang signs!"
Great video,it's cool seeing all that stuff left behind but I also hate the waste,why wouldn't they donate that stuff,sell it or send it to other schools? I've been tempted on explores before at places like this to take the stuff and donate it,but I go by the unwritten urbex rule of taking nothing but a picture
Thanks for watching Richie. I wish there was a way to go about cleaning this places out and donating what is still usable. Sucks to see all this stuff rotting away that could still be used.

Wow! Those cots look new! I know most schools and daycares got those cots in mid 2000s. Hard to believe that equipment is untouched.. Looks like they left for the weekend!

Wish they would use these buildings to house the homeless. I feel like the homeless would take the time and effort to clean this places up if they were aloud to.
It's like everybody left one day after school & never came back....the murals are nice along the walls. So much stuff left behind this was a good find

Yup some of this stuff could def still be used and is hard to find nowadays.
very cool. gotta be careful in schools, especially in detroit. they have their own police force to enforce laws at schools.
they typically put cameras in them, which are activated by motion. they then take a little video clip and upload it to DPS, who will usually show up in about 10 minutes, already knowing what you look like and where you are.

It is in Detroit after it closed down me and my brother/family moved to alanta or mexico I was very young

Someone did a great job in painting those murals.. can’t believe everything is still there…. Why not donate books to libraries.. reason for closure? Power on, why, tax payers paying.. computers should have been trfd to others immediately instead of sitting becoming outdated.. you sb wearing safety equip. Paint no doubt contains asbestos…. Asbestos paint? Lol, no. Maybe lead but just like asbestos, it poses no hazard unless ground into dust and airborne or eaten.

SMEs General practices/...../.../.../..../.../.../registrars/statisticians-Private and Public sectors/Principals are well coordinated regarding restoration/repairs/maintenance/associations and realizations of the books, 2022 onwards. Respectively:GM Industries.

Abandoned schools are so scary he is so brave because abandoned schools always remind me of the music video by pink Floyd another brink in the wall.Thats a lot of stuff however I'm think those people probably left it because they were scared.This video makes me think of what Leonardo da Vinci quote Anyone who argues with authority is not using their intelligence they are only using their memory.

Theres a lot of videos on YT about abandoned schools, im just curious. Why do they close down? are they private or state owned schools?
Both private and state owned. Usually they run out of funding or the building is beyond repair so they build a new school.

Cool, bit schools are always saying they need funding for supplies and yet this school has lots of stuff that could be used but is instead just left to rot.. super wasteful
