Hopeful that you can see this, ObsidianAnt. I just wanted to thank you for the videos that you put together. I'm going through a substantially rough patch, personally, and your videos are incredibly relaxing, and entertaining. They've helped me out quite a lot, and I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate the work you put into them all. Keep up the great work. I wish you all the best.
Everybody should watch this video: a) it's a pretty accurate tour of the Solar System, b) it's a tribute to the remarkably rapid co-ordination skills of ObsidianArt, and c) It's testament to the imagination and programming skills of the Elite team. Thanks Guys!
I loved that in the description for Mars they showed its atmospheric pressure at 2.3 times Earth normal. Apparently we made it over twice as thick to compensate for its lack of a protective magnetic field.
Good sir Obsidian, watching your channel is a real pleasure! Even though I'm not an Elite Dangerous player, I have the feeling of listening to a scholar ^^ Thank you for your content!
Great video, ObsidianAnt -- thank you! I'm a late arrival to the E:D universe and don't have a Sol permit, so it was incredible to get the tour, especially from a Horizons Beta perspective!
I'm so glad you are enjoying Beta so far. Looks like you really like what they did with Horizons. To be honest I've played for the first two days with barely any sleep, probably for 30 hours or so :D I just could not stop. I just feel like a little kid again, seeing something awe-inspiring and saying 'wow' out loud.
14:30 Falling from crazy height, calls ship. Ship flies from orbit, matches velocity, opens cargo doors, and catches Obsidian before he hits the ground. Obsidian pulls up and skims the ground. Nailed it. Awesome video by the way. Very well structured and informative, as always.
+james irvine Also, I believe Obsidian just created a new sport: Moon - cliff -base jumping (gotta work on that). Pilots from all around the galaxy will flock to see people throw themselves from cliffs in SRVs for entertainment. Bravo.
Thanks for the video, this was a very relaxing and awesome footage and commentary. You're voice is... as my significant other says, very soothing. Thanks again!
I had asked the question of whether you could land on Earth in another video comment. But this clearly answers my question, so thanks for an awesome video and the SRV jump ;)
Just want to say i love your videos ObsidianAnt, i've been watching your vids on and off now since ED was offically released, keep up the awesomeness :)
You stop speaking but youre voice is so mellow and soothing to the ears thees videos become like a relaxing therapy thanks for the cool videos love youre way of narrating
Yeah voice over was awesome, liked the style! At this point I start overlooking that ED is said to have not much of game, looks like a huge catalyst for your imagination. I take they got the astronomy pretty correct...
I said to myself, " be careful ant or you'll fall off the cliff. Then you made a jump for it and I thought Holy Crap! Ant is crazy! I thought you was going to blow up but that would have been worth it. Great video. Thanks for the cliff jump, was awesome.
Ha, currently revisiting SOL too. :D Ariel is really cool, and definitely worth a visit - getting down those dusty canyons seems to be a decent challenge.
you make wonderful videos! you seem to be the only one asking and answering the questions an exploration and curious thinker like myself would ask. also once again i see we were on the same track with where to visit. once i found out earth was on here I automatically wanted to check out jupiter and europa. and then my next thought was to look up and see if the pleiades cluster was on there.
I made the recent mistake of landing inside one of the large canyons in Ariel, driving in the SRV on such inclines was very difficult and for some strange reason my ship could not land properly for me to board, after a frustrating hour I had no choice but to self destruct my SRV, ..... still a beautiful moon to visit and have canyon races....... love your videos mate 👍🏻😀😀
There's just something cool about being on a planet or moon and looking up and seeing another huge planet or moon, just being suspended there in the sky.
Short, highly-curved horizons feel fine for people who play Kerbal space. It's big stuff that gives me space madness. The Ariel sequence was awesome to watch, and i'll be heading there myself, tonight, but the game still needs the moon Miranda. Tallest cliff in the solar system.
Nice jump off the plateau, but of course, you'll have to go back and try it again, just to work on your form. But the dismount was well-done. :) My favorite moment, though, was 6:41, just a lovely shot of the Cobra and the SRV. Really hope Frontier makes that paint job available again one day.
+DJ Weideman Thank you DJ! :) I kinda wish RUclips hadn't messed the compression up on that part of the video. On the original copy it looks fantastic.
Great video! Finally unlocked the sol permit yesterday so now I know where to go! I sure do love in oddysey now there are atmospheric landable planets! Sunsets are amazing. There is one in Anlave that has green vegetation and canyons. It's not too far from the Sol system.
Thanks for posting-- been working to reaquire my Sol permit (don't ask... Unintentional game save clear that I'm still angry with myself about.) can't wait to check it out myself. Been loving Horizons so far, though.
I'd like to buy this game just so I could go to Sol, look up and find the familiar constellations (and see if the game is actually 1:1 with our galaxy), travel to the stars of Orion's Belt and look back at our own sun. Then I'd log off forever because the gameplay looks BOOORIIIIIING.
Saturn looks beautiful with its rings closer to its surface (For lack of a better word). Though it does serve as a slightly depressing reminder that those rings will be gone within the next few thousand years.
I moved onto the Moon Base when I first got my Sol permit. Except; it was boring and there was never any good jobs in Sol. So I packed up and hauled ass to LHS 20 for my new home “Ohm City”
+ObsidianAnt Do you only get those black skins in the new patch? Because I pre-ordered it but I never received the skins. Also, totally wont be satisfied with planetary landings until I can land in my driveway! (or roughly where it would be 1000 years from now)
Ariel is gorgeous. I managed to hit the bottom of one of those canyons... at full thrust. It's VERY deep. You lose all visibility just a little ways down. It goes down quite a bit further than you showed.
+Justin Dixon The plan was to drive down to the bottom, but it was way to far, and I ended up getting stuck. But I have since flown down there, and yes - it is amazingly deep.
Hello Sir, and thank you for yet another great video. You may have already hear about it, but Junga 1 has an impressive cratter you might want to pay a visit. Have a good one o/
Hey ObsidianAnt! love your videos, it's been great watching these since I started playing. There's one moon in particular I think would be really interesting to land on but I don't have the Beta so thought I'd just recommend to you instead... It's a pair of moons orbiting each other that are actually sitting inside the asteroid ring of their parent planet. So I'm assuming you can land on the moon and maybe even see a wall of asteroids at the point where the two meet! :O Anyway, the moon is 2 B in the PRU EUQ PG-Y C17 system. Have fun! (if you end up going there)... I landed in the asteroid ring in front of the moons orbit path and could see said moon slowly carving it's way toward me, it was pretty terrifying!
I wish in future that FD releases some kind of Night vision/IR or Thermal vision HUD upgrade's that we can equip, the ships lights are pretty much useless ATM.
Ah also anyone having trouble controlling the SRV, use a Ps or Xbox controller. Works wonders and it's kinda nice having different controls for ship and buggy. I'm using x52pro and a ps4 controller.
You know, I felt like I was watching a documentary of the human civilization from a thousand years in the future.
+IRVF Thank you! :)
+ObsidianAnt can you tell me what music did you use for the Ariel jump please?
+ObsidianAnt What Sprite Man said! What's the music for the Ariel Jump? o:
+Sprite Man Vuk Darude - Sandstorm
+Wildsauce “Wildsauce123” Gaming No i'm being serious. Whats the music. Please.
I pity those who don't have a sol permit. Seeing it for yourself is amazing.
+Koala Man Had it on my Xbox. Have to work for it again on the PC.
+Koala Man It's just petty officer which is rank 4 which isn't too hard.
IHaTeD2 It was like 4 days for me.
+Mischievous Flea I am only a recruit and I have a Sol Permit, benefits of playing the beta.
+Koala Man How do you get one?
The perfect voice of a National Geographic documentary. Love it!!... Great Video!
This is awesome! It is like watching a documentary from discovery channel :D The voice over and visuals are perfect
Ariel was by far the most impressive of the many I've seen. I flew through a canyon that was over 15km deep! Amazing....
Once I get Petty Officer I'm going down into the depths in my DBS.
The base jump was by far the most epic shot in all Horizons Beta videos from the last few days. Thanks for sharing, Mr. Ant! :)
"We will go to the moon, not because it is easy, but because it is hard."
You know, I gotta give credit to JFK, because here, it's fucking impossible.
13:06
This is why I subscribed. Your commentary is amazing. Laughed a good while watching that.
Good sir Obsidian, watching your channel is a real pleasure! Even though I'm not an Elite Dangerous player, I have the feeling of listening to a scholar ^^
Thank you for your content!
+Federico Gavioli Thank you so much, that means a lot to me! :)
Great video, ObsidianAnt -- thank you! I'm a late arrival to the E:D universe and don't have a Sol permit, so it was incredible to get the tour, especially from a Horizons Beta perspective!
"the second largest planet in our solar system is jupiter"
no way its a saturn !
+Rav Archer You're right. A silly mistake. :)
but realy good film ! keep up the good work
yea ikr he showedus jupiter 2 times but the second one was saturn
+ObsidianAnt a Happy silly mistake
yea Saturn is bigger than jupiter
Wow!!! First human to BASE jump on another world!!!
+Jerome W I'm so tempted to go back and try it in VR! :D
+ObsidianAnt Maybe with a bit more speed to get a bit more distance from the walls so you're not tumbling that much. :)
Lol. I was liky "holllyyy fuckkk" that was a huge drop
+MrCorvusC Comments like these make me so excited for when Horizons goes live :) :) :) :) :)
14:30 Falling from crazy height, calls ship. Ship flies from orbit, matches velocity, opens cargo doors, and catches Obsidian before he hits the ground. Obsidian pulls up and skims the ground.
Nailed it.

Hi ObsidianAnt! Love you're videos mate! Thanks for catering for us higher than 1080p viewers too. Keep up the great work!
I will never get tired of watching the ship takeoff and land remotely.
also one of the best series on youtube about Elite Dangerous. GJ
Dozed off whilst watching your vids and woke up to this. You are the best. Absolutely love your content.
Please do more vids like this one. So far this was your best one out of the horizons beta footage you made.
You stop speaking but youre voice is so mellow and soothing to the ears thees videos become like a relaxing therapy thanks for the cool videos love youre way of narrating
Beautiful! Give me goosebumps just watching this.
Your best video so far ant!
+Kola2 I totally agree
+Kola2 Thank you! :)
You've got a voice like a movie narrator! Beautiful!
This makes Horizon worth it. Just this.
hey Ant your are a genius, a video like this, OMG this tour is AMAZING THANK YOU
+Darth Maxious Thank you so much! :)
Something tells me my exploring ranks going to go up when horizons arrives . . .
Such an nice relaxing video
Elite dangerous: Horizons adds planetary landings on moons!....wait...
The great wall of Ariel, also +10 points for a 21:9 video :)
Yeah voice over was awesome, liked the style! At this point I start overlooking that ED is said to have not much of game, looks like a huge catalyst for your imagination. I take they got the astronomy pretty correct...
What a fantastic video! Great work mate!!

Thanks for the info bruther

That rover jump...wow. No joke that was deep
I love driving srv's on low grav bodies in vr. crazy awesome experience.
12:40 Trump contemplating his big, big wall on the southern border
hot
Wow, One of your best videos!
That free fall was mad, I know what I am doing tomorrow. :)
Looking at that jump, very much like something from "The Martian" love it...
😍😍😍😍
Again a really nice video! I hope we will see Horizons on the XBox soon. Can't wait to land on all of those Planets and Moons.
We have it now :)
I love your HUD colors - would you be so kind and post your HUD color scheme setting here?
There's just something cool about being on a planet or moon and looking up and seeing another huge planet or moon, just being suspended there in the sky.
Short, highly-curved horizons feel fine for people who play Kerbal space. It's big stuff that gives me space madness.
The Ariel sequence was awesome to watch, and i'll be heading there myself, tonight, but the game still needs the moon Miranda. Tallest cliff in the solar system.
Thank You so much ObsidianAnt You just gave me my first landing site, TO ARIEL!!
Nice jump off the plateau, but of course, you'll have to go back and try it again, just to work on your form. But the dismount was well-done. :)
My favorite moment, though, was 6:41, just a lovely shot of the Cobra and the SRV. Really hope Frontier makes that paint job available again one day.
+DJ Weideman Thank you DJ! :) I kinda wish RUclips hadn't messed the compression up on that part of the video. On the original copy it looks fantastic.
Anyone of those places you landed in the Sol system would be a planetary scientists dream come true.
Great video. Very well made! :)
Great video! Finally unlocked the sol permit yesterday so now I know where to go! I sure do love in oddysey now there are atmospheric landable planets! Sunsets are amazing. There is one in Anlave that has green vegetation and canyons. It's not too far from the Sol system.
I love the epic music that plays as he yeets himself off a cliff
I'm going to watch this later, but I just had to say, you have a pleasant voice.
This is so good!!!
Love the music during the big drop... What suspense!
Try this on a planet with super high gravity and see if you survive...
+Mark Elies Will certainly be doing that later! :)
Do you think that it is a coincidence that I got an austronaut ad right before this video.
Honestly I awaited much more than that.
Amazing video ObsidianAnt! Thanks! :)
i promised myself not to check out any footage of Horizons before it came out, guess i failed, can't wait for this!
awesome! you've earned yourself a new subscriber. :)
Gorgeous video Obsidian.....I loved that. I think they mentioned that Luna would also be permit only.
Thanks for posting-- been working to reaquire my Sol permit (don't ask... Unintentional game save clear that I'm still angry with myself about.) can't wait to check it out myself. Been loving Horizons so far, though.
You are making wonderful videos!
Really enjoyed watching this......

A bit like a David Attenborough of space, good stuff.
Thanks for this great Impression!
Wow! I have to admit I didnt think you'd make it.
The music at 5:35 got me hyped as hell
This is superb.
Saturn looks beautiful with its rings closer to its surface (For lack of a better word). Though it does serve as a slightly depressing reminder that those rings will be gone within the next few thousand years.
I watched this video the freshman year of high school. I’m in college now..
wow time flies
This is very nice planet, as you can see it is made out of planet.
Thanks for the video. Good work. :)
I moved onto the Moon Base when I first got my Sol permit. Except; it was boring and there was never any good jobs in Sol. So I packed up and hauled ass to LHS 20 for my new home “Ohm City”
I'd love to see an animation of myself getting out of the pilot seat and walking to the SRV rather that a simple black fade from one to another.
That big wall at 11:30 is totally the Shield Wall on Arrakis from Dune!!!!!
fantastic video. many thanks.
Just hope the Horizon will release before Christmas, and I can play it with my new joystick!
Looks like we'll be seeing "Obsidian Ridge" on Ariel as one of the racetracks in the new season of Elite Racers: SRV edition! :D
How do you do that thing you did where you made your ship take off while you were in the space vehicle
+ObsidianAnt Do you only get those black skins in the new patch? Because I pre-ordered it but I never received the skins.
Also, totally wont be satisfied with planetary landings until I can land in my driveway! (or roughly where it would be 1000 years from now)
+Melon Lord The skin on my Cobra is actually a "wireframe skin" that was released in 2014, it was a limited skin that isn't available at the moment.
What about the one you had on your Cutter? That was the pre-order skins, yeah?
+Melon Lord That was actually a Clipper. :) The skin was part of the tactical skin pack I purchased quite a while ago.
Ah, oh wells. Hopefully they'll give me those skins eventually, heh.
Ariel is gorgeous. I managed to hit the bottom of one of those canyons... at full thrust. It's VERY deep. You lose all visibility just a little ways down. It goes down quite a bit further than you showed.

Hello Sir, and thank you for yet another great video. You may have already hear about it, but Junga 1 has an impressive cratter you might want to pay a visit. Have a good one o/
What is the tune that starts at 9:17?? It's so calming, I nearly fell asleep to Ob's voice and that music
Awesome stuff as usual, Sir.
I can't stop looking at that small head-moving astronaut on the front window. How can you fly with it? It's hilarious! :)
Hey ObsidianAnt! love your videos, it's been great watching these since I started playing. There's one moon in particular I think would be really interesting to land on but I don't have the Beta so thought I'd just recommend to you instead... (if you end up going there)...
I landed in the asteroid ring in front of the moons orbit path and could see said moon slowly carving it's way toward me, it was pretty terrifying!
+McJohnstable Ah, that sounds awesome thank you for pointing it out. I will go check it out.
I wish in future that FD releases some kind of Night vision/IR or Thermal vision HUD upgrade's that we can equip, the ships lights are pretty much useless ATM.
Your wish has been granted!...for a while
12:32 reminds me of the wall from Game of Thrones
It's equivalent to watching us talking about the Sumerians few thousand years ago.
Ah also anyone having trouble controlling the SRV, use a Ps or Xbox controller. Works wonders and it's kinda nice having different controls for ship and buggy. I'm using x52pro and a ps4 controller.
nice documentary video :)
It would be interesting if FD added persistent sites to the moon and Mars marking landing sites of Apollo 11 and the curiosity rover
They do have one: the Voyager 1
***** I know about voyager 1 but I meant Apollo 11 and Curiosity
OA, I think you should deffo redo this one after Odyssey comes out
I hope that humans can explore the system like this one day.
