I'm so glad I found your channel. It kept popping up here and there when searching RUclips for Elite videos. 1) Your editing is flawless (love the seamless cuts between Frame Shift jumps). 2) You present the information incredibly well. 3) Your narration is on point. 4) Your voice fits Elite like a glove. Keep up the superior work, CMDR Obsidian! o7
I have to hit that like just for the amount of detail you went into explaining everything so far 5 min and 49 seconds into the video. rookie like me appreciates the amount of explanation you put into this video
Splendid job as usual. Giving link to HUD recolor and graphics mods guide was a very nice touch, and definitely something new players might find useful.
Very useful! I'm looking at getting back into Elite now that they finally have an option to turn off the nausea-inducing camera wobble, and there's so much new stuff...
Even though I've been playing the beta a lot I still want to / will / am watching this. There might be things I have missed while playing but the absolute main reason is that your video's are done so professionally. It makes for a treat to watch. Keep it up dude!
Very useful. I'm coming back after Horizons has come down in price and I was worried that I would have to learn to play all over again but memories of how to play have been coming back. It helps the I learned in the first place on your older videos.
thank you sooo much for this helpful info. I had no idea how the point of interest thing worked let alone existed, been spending hours trying to find that damned occupied pod to no avail
Commenting on an old vid but I wanna say thank you so much for this video, I am pretty new to planetary landings it answered all my questions about horizons and I am able to actually use it now and have fun with landing on planets.
Just found you! Your stuff is super helpful. My buddy and I are just starting off. I love the info, love your narrative voice and am thankful that you took the time to share. Thanks much!
Thank you for explaining all this because I was pretty disappointed that i've paid 30€ for "Space go-karting simulator". Thanks, I can't wait to get back home and try all this =)
Obsidianant Thank you for you videos , if it weren't for you I would have walked away from this game long ago . Again thanks for your information and advice in yet another great informative clip.
Love your videos.. great presentation and a clear easy to understand voice. One question though... Why not record in 16:9 format? as it is even running the video full screen I have difficulty reading the text in the game's GUI because of "letterboxing". It's the only stumbling block to just about perfect tutorials
I have a 21:9 monitor, which is why the videos are in this format. Plus it makes then a little more cinematic... :) Thank you for the great comment, I'm glad you enjoy the videos!
ObsidianAnt no offense intended but personally i prefer easy visibility over "cinematic" any day. I realize the monitor size does present limitations and that for you, that's full screen... If I were in such a situation I'd play the 21:9 and crop to 16:9 in video editing just to be compatible with YT's player.... but that's me.
My one wish for this game is to be able to get out of your srv and walk around, its not faster or has really any benefits, I just want to feel not confined by a vehicle all the time. I gotta get some fresh air, you know (its a joke cus were in space = no air lol ill leave now)
So I'm confused. You go into the Internal Compartment section, yet that's where I have my Fuel Scoop. You're saying I have to get rid of my scoop to have an SRV hangar?
+Ram Berto If you want, you can get out of supercruise well before you get to the planet and approach using normal flight. Would take you a while, though.
I can't seem to find a SRV or hangar dealer anywhere. I have a Viper MK 3. So, I don't even know if I can equip one. And each time I get to a planet the DRP is higher up, and red. And I can't make landings because of it.
For some reason I can't find to buy a hangar and srv. I have dlc installed and in menu I can see horizon before going solo. I've visited maybe 10 stations and couldn't find any. I'm playing with VR headset, maybe VR version is bugged.
Heyy Mr ant question why doesn't the srv move or have any controls the only thing I can do was send ship away and go into turret and that's it no movement or ANYTHING at all .........
I was wondering.. I have a diamondback explorer right? Let's say I buy horizons.. Will I need to start over or will I keep everything and just need to buy the hanger and stuff to land? What I'm saying is it a separate game or a add on/dlc? Sorry if what I said is confusing.
i've been trying to land not too fast nor too steep but i keep droping out of OC, and the DPR is red than the default orange, I dont know what is causing this. :l
Is the (10 minute) bounty and fine normal, for the surface missions? Had one where I had to destroy a power supply, and when I did everything turned on me (kind of expected), but I also got a bounty. Having to jump out and back in to the system after 10 minutes was kinda tedious.
I'm on a planet and have an object in front of me but there seems to be no way to scan it to find out what it is. How do this work? It looks like a rock and has is outline by a grey box. I suspect it's just something to mine but should it tell me what the heck it is? I have the data link scanner set to secondary trigger but pressing this does nothing also. Does the scanner only work when targetting something specific? I'm also confused about an Occupied Escape Pod retrieve mission. The location just says Eranin. Do you find these on planet surfaces or in space? I've entered planetary flight but after flying around for a while I see no blue circle POIs when flying above 2k height. How do you find these damn pods :)
Thank you for the tutorial! It seriously helped me. However, I'm still not sure what the small numbers under the altitude meter on the planetary interface mean. You went over the bottom number, the gravity, but the other two numbers im not sure about
Hi Jamie, I have a problem, I can’t seem to buy an SRV anywhere. I’ve visited numerous docks, hubs etc but it won’t let me buy a planetary vehicle bay. I have had ED for some time and have recently updated to horizons so I’m wondering if I need to start again? Any help would be most appreciated.
+ObsidianAnt please reply cuz I'm so confused... I am new to Elite Dangerous and I want to but Horizons from steam. My question is this: Do I need to buy the base game as well? Do I need to buy Elite Dangerous separately and then also buy the Elite Dangerous: Horizons?
Ok so I'm on a planet in my SRV, have mats for basic ammo. Hit the button to restock, and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? Is there a button to reload or is it supposed to be automatic, cause I have no ammo now and all my mats are gone to trying to reload srv guns.
i haven't watched the video yet so you might have already explained it. but what if you die while in the srv? where do you respawn? what happens to your ship?
Heard a lot of people saying that they were gonna buy throw away sidewinders to practice planet landings. Is that actually necessary? It looks to me like as long as you're careful you won't have problems.
i have a problem from the starting i cant get horizon to load on my old save im not even sure if its installed because steam gives me code to confirm my game but i dont know where to input it but i also restarted the game but it still didnt load the horizon yet steam says its installed
Thank you for these videos. You sir are doing a great job. However I need more information that is associated with you key layout/bindings(both Horizons and Elite dangerous). Can you please share it with me?
Okay I gotta ask. The Scarab only has 2 cargo space. 1) is there any way to increase that / will we get better tier scarabs in the future? 2) Do those Minerals count as cargo or not?
+ToniHD Minerals don't count as cargo. Scarab has 2 tons by design, so I doubt you will be able to fit more. We will definitely get more SRV models later in the season.
+ToniHD I suspect that the scarab is primarily a scout specialist vehicle. Later updates to the game will almost certainly bring in Cargo Hauling specialists & combat specialist vehicles....at the very least. Possible even different variants of the above too.
Do you have a list of stations that would allow my Asp E to carry 4 SRV’s? I’m just repairing the one I have on the ground if it drops below 25/30% hull
Hey ObsidianAnt. Could you explain how to do some of the new missions in Horizons because even though I spent a lot of time with the game I have a problem with one type of missions which are very well paid (100.000 Cr to 800.000 Cr). Those missions are to take and hold some amount of materials for quite some time until I get contacted by someone where to deliver it. The problem is it doesn't describe where I should go or what to do (only contact name like "John Smith"). I take the stuff go into space, check every unidentified/strong/weak signal etc. After an hour of happening nothing I get "mission failed" massage even though there's no timer on mission.
question: can i mine things from roids and use them in synthesis or does it have to be planet mined? also does the FSD boost heat your ship up more? that could be a very balanced outcome or slight damage or something for the increased range the 2km lost signal thinggy is more like "find it yourself don't take the easy route" otherwise thanks for the update vid
+Márton Szabó Materials for synthesis are currently only available on planets, though the plan is to eventually have them appear, extremely rarely, in space as well.
+Márton Szabó They said on their livestream yesterday that some things will be exclusively gotten from space for crafting purposes. Coming later in the season.
I basically stopped playing this game a long time ago because I didn't know what I was supposed to be dong. Missions were incredibly low priced. And I was really looking forward to horizons. Then when I found it was a dlc I gave up. Now there's guardians. I haven't got the money for the expansions and I don't know what to do now.
Hey Ant, I am having a problem with the links in the description to basic tutorial and the UI change links. It says an error occurred during validation
This might be a really silly question but after seeing the first few minutes of this thought I should ask. You dont have to start from scratch in Horizons do you ? I have worked hard to get this far.
+ObsidianAnt So wait do you have like 3 copies of the game or something, how did you land in the middle of nowhere with your exploration asp, and also have a imperial clipper in other videos?
I got horizons season pass but I didn't have the option in the menu to start with a sidewinder in horizons could it be I'm only running a 32 bit version or does that not make any difference
Horizons doesn't run on 32bit. If you loaded the 32bit version then that is the default version of the game only. You need to download and install Horizons from the launcher.
ahh thx just wondering that's all, but not going to worry about it as I'm upgrading my pc in a few weeks to an i7 so will be running 64 bit soon enough
Sorry if this is a silly question, but you are loading up Horizons and not just Elite Dangerous? Also, you can only go into orbital cruse on certain planets, not all of them.
In the game launcher you will have a number of different options. Elite Dangerous: Horizons Elite Dangerous You need to be in the Horizons version of the game. Also when you check the system map, make sure the planet you are trying to land on has a blue ring around it, as these are the only planets you can land on.
I'm not sure if I have Horizons, but if my ship is fitted with a suite, isn't that enough signal to me having it? Yes I went to a planet that even had a statrport rooted on the surface.

Agreed. I just started on ps4 so this is good info me. Considering im not good at docking and my fear of flying into a sun lol

Easily the best Elite: Dangerous tutorials. Thanks for putting these up.

Another quality video with plenty of information and a perfect narration.
Brilliant video as always, some the best guides on the net for Elite.
Keep up the good work.
You are easily the BEST Elite Dangerous/Horizons video presenter.
Great video man! 20/10 quality and we can even jump to where we want on the video
21:9 aspect video!! Wohooo! Thanks for the great tutorial :)
love the channel! I just started playing Elite on Xbox about 2 months ago and your videos are very informative. keep up the great work

Just found you! Your stuff is super helpful. My buddy and I are just starting off. I love the info, love your narrative voice and am thankful that you took the time to share. Thanks much!
Laurent Canup Welcome to Elite, commander. o7
Just found your channel, im going to give Elite another chance. I played a little bit at launch but it seems it evolved in a good way!
High quality helpful video. Your video editing is very good.
As always, great video Obsidian!
You get a thumbs up just because of your time stamps, but the entire video is excellent.
I am too so glad i found your channel, you know how to make tutorials and you know how to make em good. o7
Thank you for explaining all this because I was pretty disappointed that i've paid 30€ for "Space go-karting simulator". Thanks, I can't wait to get back home and try all this =)
Subbed, great clear and clean tuts, thank you, youve just opened up ED into another game for me
Great video, i've just got horizons and this video taught me a lot!
Thank you so much Obsidian, this helped me a lot.
Obsidianant Thank you for you videos , if it weren't for you I would have walked away from this game long ago . Again thanks for your information and advice in yet another great informative clip.
Love your vids i have to say.. so here goes: "love your vids" Learned a lot from the soothing voice :D
good job mate with this videos. very helpfull
Excellent informative video, thank you. Really enjoyed this. Happy 2016.
Good video dude. Helped out a lot!
Thank you, CMDR Obsidian Ant. You're an officer and a gentleman! o7
This is a good vid mate, thank you
Loved that video!
Subbed!
Brilliant video!
Amazing and really helpful
Nice one, thanks for posting Cmdr o7
I've always had a personal dream to perform SAR operations in space. To think Elite Dangerous gives me that chance?
Time to upgrade.
Fantastic video
I love love your videos. TY
+michael riley Thank you! :)
Great tutorial, i very much appreciate the work you put into your material, 1+ sub and like from me 😁.
Keep up the great work.
You need to try base jumping in the SRV!
What’s up Ant! How much would you say the info in this video has changed over the years?
your voice is amazing. I want you to narrate books on tape for me
Check out Frankie on pc in 1080p
@@Guitargod6655 It's so weird. I made this comment 4 years ago, and started watching Frankie 2 days ago, right before you comment this. Crazy.
Obsidian is our tutorial.
Woahh u can blackout.. Awesome!

+searcher619 Oh I plan to, but we need the game to come out first :D
+Internet Omatic Ahh yes, but it has as much content as any $60 game should
+Bungus Sniffer planetary landings would be nice for that $60 game.

thanks man. I want it nowwww
So I'm confused. You go into the Internal Compartment section, yet that's where I have my Fuel Scoop. You're saying I have to get rid of my scoop to have an SRV hangar?
learned a lot thanks o7
You never talked that much :P It feels like you never stop to take breath.
kinda wish plantar landing was truly seamless without that puase when you drop from supercruise but I'm sure they will work on it...

Hey Obsidian...did you ever play a game called Starport GE?
Been playing vanilla for about 140 hours. If I download Horizons, will I lose my progress to date?
where is the best place to download this game for PC windows 10?
I basically stopped playing this game a long time ago because I didn't know what I was supposed to be dong. Missions were incredibly low priced. And I was really looking forward to horizons. Then when I found it was a dlc I gave up. Now there's guardians. I haven't got the money for the expansions and I don't know what to do now.
Was saying "This is to teach you about planetary landings, and get you off the ground" intentional, or just ironic?
Hey Ant, I am having a problem with the links in the description to basic tutorial and the UI change links. It says an error occurred during validation
salve dove compro gli SRV per viaggiare sulla superifice del pianeta?? grazie e ciao
a tutti
Could you pass the codes of your hud color? love it, thank you
This might be a really silly question but after seeing the first few minutes of this thought I should ask. You dont have to start from scratch in Horizons do you ? I have worked hard to get this far.
+Jeff44554 No, you don't need to start for scratch. You can continue from where you are at. :)
+ObsidianAnt Does this mean we can now have more than one commader?
+Daniel Orrett Still only one commander. :(
+ObsidianAnt So wait do you have like 3 copies of the game or something, how did you land in the middle of nowhere with your exploration asp, and also have a imperial clipper in other videos?
+ShaDOW_FlaYRE He might just have friends.
Thanks for this tutorial :-) But, I still got a short question: what do I do, than the quest just gives me the system but not the concrete planet?
Scan the Nav beacon that's near the system's star.
+Lee thx for the info, but I already found this out only minutes after I wrote this here through "accident" :)
No prob, just wanted to make sure ya got the answer!
How do you switch ships to the one with the srv
Are you a space pilot in real life? I think I watch you play more than I play myself
No matter how slow I go as I 'enter' orbital cruise, at some point it says DROPPING TOO CLOSE instead of what the tutorials show.
Sorry if this is a silly question, but you are loading up Horizons and not just Elite Dangerous? Also, you can only go into orbital cruse on certain planets, not all of them.
I only know of Elite Dangerous. My Viper 3 is apparently fitted with a planetary approach suite, so I don't understand the issue.
In the game launcher you will have a number of different options.
Elite Dangerous: Horizons
Elite Dangerous
You need to be in the Horizons version of the game.
I already have Elite Dangerous, if i purchase Horizons, do i still have my ships and money from the original Elite Dangerous?
Waiting for this to drop on Xbox one
do I have to start from the begining if i just baught horizons?
