  • Review of the ASUS TP500LN laptop. Visit newagesoldier.com for more information.
Game play frames are shown in the upper left corner. The speakers for the this laptop are on the very front (not top or bottom).
ISSUES I HAD: Sparks shooting from hinge, hard drive locked up constantly, fan was running at 100% speed all the time. After sending to back to ASUS multiple times, it now works perfectly.
I also point out why this is SOO much better than a Toshiba Yoga.

Thank you so much for your time. As a bit of constructive criticism, it felt a bit long-winded. But I really appreciate the gameplay video, that is something that's absolutely necessary in any computer review but most reviews don't do it. Thank you for your work.

I am thinking of buying this for the upcoming school year of University. I'd probably just use it for school work and watching videos, maybe writing and drawing and video/picture editing; would this be good for those things? If not can you recommend a better hybrid?

Finally, I found a review for this *exact* model, thanks so much! May I ask how much you bought this for? To compare with the price in my local computer store.

I just purchased this laptop. I will receive mine on Sunday. I am not a gamer, unless you include solitaire and a few mystery games. Do you recommend this laptop for regular use. I guess the question I really want to know is when you sent this laptop back in several times were the problem you had bc of the way it was manufactured, or bc you play alot of games on it. I would hate to have to send this thing back several problems when all I do is school work, surf the web, social media and watching you tube videos. What do you think? Is it possible that I might have the same issues as you did, even if I don't game?

I've checked the specs and pricing, this is very decent for gaming for its price. Would it also be good for school use? I don't really want to waste money on a cheaper laptop for school only. Would this model be good for both uses?

Its actually good, only problem is that its really cheap, the screen isnt glued good enough, i have to send it to service twice.

Hi there Jake, I have a question for you.
I am going to start my ICT Bachelor in september, and I was wondering about your experience with this computer.
I currently have my eyes on the ASUS Transformer Book Flip TP500LB-DN024H model, which is 999 Euro's here in the Netherlands.
When you were talking about the touchpad, I kinda started having doubts, because I'm an avid Macbook user..
My question for you is, how is the fan on this laptop? Also, after a few months of use how is the whole thing holding up?
If I end up not buying the above mentioned model, what other laptop do you recommend me?
    Specs: i7, 500+ hhd/sshd, 8+ram and preferably touchscreen
    thank you

I bought mine like 5 days ago, am liking it... I have just not tried to stress the i7 with some games yet.... the ram is like 4GB only and HDD instead of SSD.
      Would you recommend an upgrade?
      thanks

hi jack, i just bought a "ADATA SX900 2.5" 256GB" ssd for $140 canadian dollars, but I dont know if this disk is good. I mean based on the spec, apparently the R/W speeds are beasty already, but what else should I look into?

I was so much battling btw throwing away $8x0 for lenovo y50-70 and and buying this one tp500ln with 750GB 5400rpm hdd(planning to replace with 25X GB ssd). cannot resist the price of y50 frankly, but its just too cheap the material that lenovo incorporate into y50. I'm planning to dual boot win8.1 and arch and need the laptop to be towards light weight and mobile, but I still dont want to give up on the graphics(carbon x1 is such a meat pie, but its only for working). hows the keyboard feel in terms of the space btw keys(i still miss my old dell xps m1330 with no space in btw keys. i can just type so fast)? im still with my asus k53sv(old one), but the keys just too spread out to type fast...

***** Thank you so much for this insight... I had a laptop before that I could smell the heat sinks burning when it was on, so heat dissipation is very important to me.

I know this burned plastic smell. I hate this too :) I found a asus tp500ln but seller shop is not a good place. So i bought a monster abra a7. It has an awesome cooling system too :)

Osama Omar Don't bother with the i7. There is literally no difference between using an i5 or an i7 when it comes to gaming. It always comes down to a good graphics card, especially on laptops. Buying a desktop PC would be much more cost effective for the games you've listed.
