I am surprised you mentioned that you can't download ARM version of Fresco.... I am using ARM version of Fresco for serveral months now (it was released earlier this year), first on my Surface Pro X (SQ2) and now on my Surface Pro 11.
Brad, nice review, but I have two issues. 1) You can purchase a charging dock for the Surface Slim Pen 2; I got mine for $35, so you don't have to have the keyboard to charge. 2) The storage on the Surface Pro is used replaceable; there is a little door behind the kickstand that you can open and replace the Nvme SSD. It is never a good idea to pay the storage tax to Microsoft. My big issue with Microsoft devices is they male you pay $500 to step up from the base configuration to get an OLEDs screen; now, you do get more storage and an upgrade from the Snapdragon X Plus to the Snapdragon X Elite, but in a space constrained tablet, it doesn't really give you much better performance. At least the IPS screen on the Airbags Pro is really almost as good as OLEDs! The one thing I wish more OEMs that make these Surface Pro Clones would do is to use the 3:2 aspect ratio that the Surface Pro uses rather than 16:10. It just makes so much more sense for a tablet device; the weight distribution is just so much more manageable...
Is it too much to ask for a Windows device with a decent battery, a good pen, and the capability to connect it to a drawing tablet? I just want an ipad like windows tablet that I can take with me when I need it, and hook it up to a wacom at home. So to keep my tech to a minimal and all my files in one place.
Hi Brad, did you find that the screen was warm on your palm when drawing? That's always bothered me with the Surface products and when I had an Asus Z13. Who wants to draw, journal, or take notes on a device thats getting warmer and warmer on the skin? I always figured it was the hot intel processor causing the extra heat, and I am curious if the Snapdragon machines have allowed for a cooler screen experience like on ipads and galaxy tabs. Keep up the great work, always enjoy your videos!
Hi, I recently got a Surface Pro with SP Elite... I drew something, although I didn't get it primarily for that. When you draw it gets a little warm, not like Intel processors but it certainly doesn't stay cold at all. I don't know about this Asus of course, but speaking of Snapdragon I noticed this, especially with some big drawing apps like Adobe Fresco, that needs full performance battery settings. Whereas if you write or do some small sketches on One Note, for example, it doesn't heat up at all. Wish It could helps.

You should have start with the lag, but I guess video would be over too soon then. iPad figured lag 10 years ago, Wacom figured lag even more time ago, and here we are. I have a laptop with this type of digitizer and it is UNUSABLE
The pen wobble and palm rejection alone are major dealbreakers. Like always, why do they choose anything other than Wacom EMR?!?! It’s been years of these brands making tablets that an artist would buy in a heartbeat and they F it up with WPP and MPP pens…smh.
The only affordable laptops and tablets that I know of are Samsung. Why? Because Samsung bought a large block of stock in Wacom, and they get the digitizers at a discount, if not at cost. The Wacom style EMR digitizers are expensive to produce, and Samsung can get them much cheaper through their connection with Wacom. Everyone else does not have access to a dedicated supply line like that, and I'm sure Samsung uses it's leverage to keep that situation going. There are other companies that make EMR digitizers, but you are not going to get the lower per-unit cost of mass production like Wacom has. So, others can use EMR digitizers, but it would raise the cost of the tablet/laptop to a price point most people wouldn't pay. Prices are already too high as it is. Hopefully, in time, we will see all that change, but not holding my breath.

Excellent focus on using a pen with the PZ13. It could have been a bit better with a demonstration of taking handwritten notes via Microsoft Journal. A big advantage of this device over a traditional laptop is being able to take notes while in a class, lecture or business meeting. I suspect it would work very well for that purpose, but being able to see a demonstration before purchase would be very useful. It strikes me as silly that ASUS didn't include a stylus, particularly given that a stylus is necessary to get full use of the device.
The keep on bundling theseProArt with amateur pens, that just doesn't make sense. This is not for professional art, this is for hobbyists. For pro art an okay pen is not okay.
I wonder if this will be Windows 12 compatible. I have both a Surface Studio and Surface pro 4 which MS will not allow to update. Purchasing new equipment every 2 years is exceedingly expensive. Linux is looking better.

Now im not dissing on asus for making a surface clone, i like competition and its what helped drop the price of the surface, (Surface pro 9 i5 8 gb model was 1099 last year full price). Also i do dislike they hide the 2nd USB c, i dont mind the sd card reader being covered. I like how premium the surface pro feels in comparison. My honest opinion, love your videos dude

lol I'm thinking that too. a touchscreen laptop is enough for me tho for TV.
A budget or midtier ITX gaming PC and a 16inch drawing tablet is a non-professional artist’s dream.
can we use samsung tab s9 fe+ as an extended display for our laptop with tab's touch input including s-pen?
Good review!
And yeah... My windows 2-in-1 when "Hibernating" drains the battery to zilch in a couple of days. I've never gotten a good answer as to why. It's annoying.
So, snapdragon is appealing.
But.., no Wacom, no deal. (One day the competition might figure out how to draw a straight line, but apparently.., that day is not today.)
i wish they have 15 inch option of this
You should have start with the lag, but I guess video would be over too soon then. iPad figured lag 10 years ago, Wacom figured lag even more time ago, and here we are. I have a laptop with this type of digitizer and it is UNUSABLE
review on poco pad + poco pen?
There are still no Zbrush test on Yt on snapdragon laptops:/
Does this laptop have eye tracker?
LENOVO Yoga 7 or asus pz13?
wish LNL version of this
The loop is definitely a dealbreaker.
Is the ssd swappable?
I can't stand asymmetrical bezels, wish they would make a version with symmetrical bezels like an iPad.
The pen wobble and palm rejection alone are major dealbreakers. Like always, why do they choose anything other than Wacom EMR?!?! It’s been years of these brands making tablets that an artist would buy in a heartbeat and they F it up with WPP and MPP pens…smh.
They probably don't want to pay for patents. But you're right, they left us artists behind. It's best used for note-taking rather than artwork (wpp).
This or samsung android tablet ?
Is there by chance an ethernet port on this.. not thinking so
Nice to see more devices for artists.
Mmmnot for me, though. Still waiting on the mid-range mini PC vid. 😉
Does bluestacks work on this tab
I really want to move from my IPP to a full windows based device, but c’mon Microsoft, fix the WPP jitter.
Lately I'm wishing for a device that allows animating without running out of RAM on either CSP or iBisPaint
Apple never ships enough RAM
A 16 gig Android samsung tablet would rock
can you customize what the pen buttons do? if not then this is an immediate no from me since it's barely made for artists and more just mostly targeted at artists
Pls review huawei matepad 11.5 s
Especially for the go paint app
Excellent focus on using a pen with the PZ13. It could have been a bit better with a demonstration of taking handwritten notes via Microsoft Journal. A big advantage of this device over a traditional laptop is being able to take notes while in a class, lecture or business meeting. I suspect it would work very well for that purpose, but being able to see a demonstration before purchase would be very useful. It strikes me as silly that ASUS didn't include a stylus, particularly given that a stylus is necessary to get full use of the device.
Brad, can it run Blender ?
Yes! Since it doesn't have a dedicated GPU rending isn't great but for what I use Blender for it runs fine. And they are working on an Arm version.
@@thebradcolbowthere’s already an Arm version of Blender available for download
potresti provare Honor V3?
We can all probably thank apple for the fact they didn't include the pen in the box lol
imo Rog Ally X + Kamvas 13 combo might be better and cheaper..
The fact that giant companies can’t tailor their software fast enough even though they had ten+ years to adapt is sad
Kind of a strange device. People like me care a lot about running under the X86 architecture and this is ARM. No way I'm taking that chance.
wonder if you can install Linux... I'm going away from windows cause of spy ware.
Surface owner and Best Buy enployee. My complaint of the Asus is the quality of it. It feels cheap, like the leather material they use doesnt feel great. But i bought the latest Surface (which the best time to buy is on sale 870) and if you want 1 TB you can actaully purchase the hard drive its a model 2230 where you can get almost any model.
Pen sucks, so doubt it will replace my Wacom + windows combo sadly
Sorry, but you lost me at ARM processor. I'm going to wait for the Surface to get the newest Intel Lunar Lake chip to get that better battery life.
I hate it when people ask for reviews under reviews for different products. That said, I‘d really like to know your opinion on the new Remarkable with the colour screen.
The pen wobble is one major downside that disappointed me of my Surface Pro 7. If they just manage to figure out how to properly fix that so we don't have to turn to software that would be so great. I still love the whole concept of a tablet pc in this format.
no headphone jack, no pen inlcuded (while teasing you with that pen holder).. they always have to f*ck up somehow.. also asus support SUX
I don't think wacom would rush to make it compatible knowing it'll kill their own products. 😂
How does the pen compare with Apple's? Running on the iPad Pro M4 which is a much more powerful processor.
Hi, thanks for the review. Really clear. I was wondering: comes the Asus tablet with the Snapdragon Plus 8 core chip? Or is it the 10 core as in the cheapest version of the Surface Pro 11?
