When I was in Maui, I saw the locals fishing with balloons from the dollar store. They used the balloons as bobbers. The wind from behind them, kept pushing the balloons further and further away from the shore. They were able to bring in some pretty big fish without having to cast very far. They let the wind push the balloon and their bait several 100 yards off shore. :-)
You have to sell a combination with a automatic reel because the range you have with a drone is 100x above what the reel system has been made to be, it means you have to work over 100 times the effort to reel the beast back to the shore, with an electric reel, you bypass this tremendously, electric reels are already made to pull fishes hundreds of feet away. 1 stop solution: drone cast. if bite. press button, collect fish; effortlessly.
better make sure your detach mechanism works flawlessly from lure to drone otherwise it could be expensive replacing your drone every time you go droning...i mean fishing
Pretty awesome... I used my DJI to catch a monster bass trolling a jitterbug. The video is on my channel (posted on August 19, 2016). It was pretty epic IMHO. Just search "Drone Bass" and it should be the first result. Enjoy!
No one else uses a bebop 2 drone for fishing? A really great drone for the price , refurbished. Really strong drone for drone fishing. Greetings from Uruguay
Well that is certainly a novel way of catching tuna. This technique would be great for the harpoon boats that fish for bluefin tuna. Some of them use a small airplane to spot the schools of bluefin tuna. Using the drone would be more efficient method of locating the tuna. The side benefit being is that you get great aerial footage of the fight with the fish.
Top shelf! I caught a bluegill once with my drone and felt good about myself. I have been dreaming of doing this for a while but you made it happen. Excellent footage as well.
A fun and exciting use for drones as oppose to spying on people in their backyards or through the window of their high rise dwelling. I am loving this.
You are full of it. Clearly you have not seen footage from a drone or you would know you cant spy on people with the wide angle lens they use for landscape photography. A drone would have to be within inches of a person to get a close up.
Oh really? I guess camera technology for drones must be extremely limited/fixed to just ONE type of camera. Wow never knew that thanks for clearing up this misconception. We'd be loss without your infinite knowledge here.
I use a drone for a living and I use zoom lens but most dont so thats why I replied the way I did. If I was going to spy on people I would just walk up with an iPhone and take a shot. why would anyone want to look through your window? Grow up. You are an idiot.
Again my bad. I had no idea you speak on behalf of all drone users and can certify that none of them will outfit their drones (or can) with whatever gear they need to actually spy. And with my idiotic brain I never knew that using a drone to spy wouldn't offer any anonymity and convenience for perverts. I should have also known that each and every drone users are like you. Thank you sir once again for clearing things up.
I don't understand why people that do not enjoy this or put negative comments on come on here and say stupid shit!?? Makes 0 sense to me. If it's not your cup of tea move on. No one asked for your negative opinion. This is a great idea, there is sport in this, 100%. I have been fishing for about 27 years now. I have done everything from tiny pond fishing to multiple day long range deep sea fishing. I enjoy it all. And as fishermen, we try every edge to get to get on fish!! This looks to be a very effective idea. And I don't believe a few drones are gonna make tuna go extinct, big nets do the damage, and that is less sport. Anyway guys keep up the good work, and tight lines!!
Dear Juan, I have been fishing for 50 years , when I was kid I used all methods to catch fishes but then I grow up and since 20 years I only fish with the fly and release all the fishes. The video is very nice but saying that "there is sport in this, 100%" is too much .. good luck
Just buy yourself a hugh trawler and along with many others you can out and really rob the seas . But don't let us hear you sobbing when its all gone. Become a better and greater skilled angler and catch more with what you have.
People should understand world is changing so is everything on it... common it's new generation sport , and by the way the were fishing to eat. ..👍at least one know he doesn't go empty hands☺
It's no different than kite fishing. And kite fishing is used everywhere. Charter boat last year, 39 bluefin average weight 80 to 90 pounds on the kite.
OMG what am I jealous more of ? 1. the idea 2. the drone 3. that frickin beach caught tuna......! You guys are genius ! Holy crap I busted my toe running to buy the drone......ahhhhh!
@BlacktipH Hey Guys, we’ve finally launched the product. Are you keen to test out the SKY RIGGER? Send me your email and we will chat from there. Cheers
Again if I was totally scared of losing it, I wouldn't do it at all. I have 2 of them and am definitely going to catch some fish. With that said water and electronics don't mix. Flown mine over the ocean numerous times, never fished with it
I thought of this brilliant idea years ago fishing for pink salmon on the Frasier river but never thought about using a camera to spot a school of fish.. very brilliant.
Damn genius! That works from the beach to get you out there where the fish are....could use at a pier as well...get outside all the usually fished area. Now, all i need to do is figure out that release mechanism. Thanks for the video!
Super awsome! I thought about this all night after I get up from my sleep next morning a Google search for drone fishing, vola! Idea already taken! Wow super cool! Good job guys
What a snap, get the drone to fine a school, then drop a bait. Need a deep spool with heaps of line and a level wind. Good for tailor when their right out, like it. Looks like Red Rock.
The Polynesians where into Kite fishing, an Australian in Melbourne developed Modern Kite fishing, see "caught in flight" while wharf fishing he wanted to get land based baits out to the mussel beds in Port Philip bay to chase Snapper when they where not in close to shore. The trouble with a Kite is that its is not as accurate with the bait drop, you can only go in the direction of the wind, and it doesn't have a camera. Drone fishing takes this takes the concept to a new level. I'd like to see someone skip a popper on the surface for kingfish tuna ETC or drop a lure for Billfish
my question is what knots are you tying? Where the drone doesn't get dragged in while reeling it in? It looked like it broke off while the bait remains in the water?
Não entendi... o drone leva a linha para o alto mar e como ele solta a linha quando o peixe é fisgado? A linha se desprende ou tem um controle pra fazer isso?
Nice one boys, 10 minute drive away from my house. Can ya please drop off a tuna steak? Cheers. I've heard Luke banging on about this all week on Hot Tomato. I can now appreciate what all the hype was about. Again, nice one boys.
+Jaiden Maclean "GENIUS"; WELL DONE GENTLEMEN. plus not to mention the music on the background was fantastic it all seem like if it was a movie I was falling into it great job guys
It is not allowed aircraft fishing in Ontario (provincial regulations). But nothing is mentioned about drone fishing. I think, the best would be to contact with local MNR authorities.
The best ever drone fishing video of all the times, the other videos I’ve seen are not like this one, in these videos we can even see when the fish catch the bait.
We use a custom drone attachment with fishing release mechanism. Just about ready to launch the product, send me your email and I can keep you up to date and tell you more! Cheers, Jaiden
We designed a release mechanism with a drone attachment. Tried the downrigger clips and drowned a drone. If you guys - hdrjunkie, Darrell Hicks would like to be updated on the progress of our dronefishing release mech send me your emails and ill forward you some info. Cheers - Jaiden
Any chance of you guys posting a DIY video for others to replicate? There's a yacht club channel out by me in NYC, just out of casting distance and I'm almost certain there are bull sharks cruising through there. I'm not experienced enough to try with a yak, but have been trying to figure out a way to get the bait far enough out and I think this is the best solution.
+Stuart Keefer some rubber bands and a key chain ring.. The tackle line is wedged in between the key chain ring. Yanks the line off the ring from force.
+Jaiden Maclean I read in an article you're looking at starting a business doing this ... Just wondering what you know about the law prohibiting it in Australia?
I kite fish 100 days out of the year, same concept but add a camera and pinpoint accuracy. Sick! Wish they made a drone that had an 8hr battery life! nice vid.
Please explain how you did this. Was the drone used just as a fish finder? Did the drone actually pull the line out and drop it into the fish? If so, how was the drone disconnected from the line? Explain please.
Rob Cinq-Mars I could be wrong, but from the looks of it, I think they used the drone to search for groupings of tuna. From there I imagine they had the bait attached to the drone in order to drop the lure nearby. The bait must have had some kind of detachable set-up, perhaps a band/clip that released the line once drag was applied via the fish taking the bait. However, I thought I saw line attache dot the drone after the fish took the bait, so this is pure speculation on my behalf.
+Rob Cinq-Mars The drone basically carries a point between the bait and fisher out, thus it can drop the bait in which ever spot they want. You can see how the bait is lowered into the water. Also the connection with the drone to the fishing line is breakable (thus when the tuna starts pulling it snaps). Probably a special knot was used.
$180-$400 depending on the quality. That one's just a baby, so unless it's a lazy lardass that's never been challenged, it's probably lean side and not as oily as the big ones. Those things get 10 feet long and 800 lbs. That looks like a 45 lb fish, probably 25-30lbs dressed. But what do tuna steaks go for at your local market? 30lbs of tuna would feed a small village. That's an unusually-thick tuna steak every day for a month.
andrew potts long tails don't get big and are rarely eaten, as they are not good eating compared to yellow or bluefin tuna. Also I'm pretty sure long tails are recreational only species meaning they can't be commercially fished or sold.
Tim Vincent Fishing Oops, didn't see the longtail. I thought that was a baby bluefin. Shows you what I know. I'd make a terrible buyer, out of business in a week.
Actually these longtails in colder water are really good eating. I have eaten all types of tuna and this particular fish was up there with some of the best iv had. When bled right and iced strait away there's nothing wrong with it.
Yeah me as well. I think you would probably have to go out and go drone fishing with one of the operators and then you could see it and learn it, it would cost a days fishing but would be worth it for sure.
Does a drones sensors know how far you are above water? Will it warn you in time before you do an accidental splash down? I guess DJI wont replace your drone if you cant find it.
Not fair. using airplanes was common to seach Tunas but then, forbidden for Tuna hunting Using drone camera is like using sonar i ll do it, i m not fair
solid work fellas...quick question what was your rod and reel setup and what type of contraption mechanism did you use to have the line released from the Drone
Cheers mate! We used a Shimano Tyrnos reel / Shimano T Curv rod with a drone fishing release mechanism we designed. Currently testing different prototypes now will have a product ready for drone fishing hopefully by September this year. Send me your email and i can keep you updated man
I am designing a new Dronefishing release mechanism to suit all a variety of different models. Will make a tutorial as soon as my product is finished :)
At first I was thinking of this as cheating but then I got to thinking about it, it's no more cheating than all the big nets out there on the big boats and you are reeling it in yourself. Good job.
This is very interesting way of fishing. I definitely want to try it , but still this makes fishing easier since fisherman can locate the fish with drones. I think there should be limitation applied to this new way of fishing. Anyway, this can be a new category of fishing and thanks for sharing the excellent video.
No knots mate, we use a custom release mechanism. Testing different prototypes now and should a product available in a month or so. Send me your email and I'll keep you up to date. Cheers. Jaiden
When I was in Maui, I saw the locals fishing with balloons from the dollar store. They used the balloons as bobbers. The wind from behind them, kept pushing the balloons further and further away from the shore. They were able to bring in some pretty big fish without having to cast very far. Hi Doug would love to take you, where do you live ?
I am in Perth Western Australia
Perfect, I am from Dunsborough. When I come back to West Oz i will take you dronefishing. What is your email Doug
douglasmilne7@bigpond.com sounds great :-)
+Jaiden Maclean damn that's awesome! Cool man! Keep posting
That's it. I'm selling the boat and buying a drone.
I mean really, if someone can perfect this, what a cost savings, right? How much would a tuna that size go for on the market?
Around 250-1000$
I'm pretty sure a lot of this has to do with the location too.
Yes. What can I do for you?
better make sure your detach mechanism works flawlessly from lure to drone otherwise it could be expensive replacing your drone every time you go droning...i mean fishing

I saw it. Your excitement was better than the fish. lol
shameless plug
@shoegum So? He just wants to share his personal video to people that liked this video and such people will prob want to watch anyway.

not only a good way of catching but also great video ;)
Very cool. My only issue is the length of the fight if you happened to catch an undersized fish (or oversized if you have a slot limit there).
Gotta love aussie ingenuity! Its cool how they use a rubber band thats snaps when the tuna hits...
Awesome video guys!
this is the reason why i bought the phantom 3 Professional
awesome, takes armchair fishing to a whole new level for me
Epic!!!
I think you should do this with tippers.
would you do this @blacktiph
Fortnite
@BlacktipH Hey Guys, we’ve finally launched the product. Are you keen to test out the SKY RIGGER? Send me your email and we will chat from there. Cheers
Let’s do it josh! Thing is sick!!! Game changer for mullet run & blacktip migration!
One of the best ideas I've seen in a long time
Absolutely bloody epic! Well done!
Awesome. Great work guys.
Way better than the old wind and balloon days.
Please post a video on how to rig the drone to drop the bait,,,,,or explain what you use to do it. I have 2 DJI PHANTOM 2 drones
+Bassmaster Florida Yes, please show us your release mechanism.
Mind comes into play as you lose a $1000 drone into the drink
Again if I was totally scared of losing it, I wouldn't do it at all. I have 2 of them and am definitely going to catch some fish. With that said water and electronics don't mix. Flown mine over the ocean numerous times, never fished with it
Bassmaster Florida . get the waterproof drones. they can land and go under a bit

+Pat Rigdon Release mechanism is a rubber band. Or were you kidding?
literally it is a kite fishing release
Fuck you
brings a whole new meaning to fly fishing
That's amazing. A NEW FISHING METHOD
That has to be the ultimate surf fishing, where is this filmed?
That was awesome. Really cool.
Exactly haha. Drone fishing for tailor soon mate ill let you know how we go

working on it mate! have caught GT's skipping poppers and nearly pulled off catching a black marlin.
good stuff fellas, question, what rod and reel is that? and how did you make the breakaway contraption? I have a phantom 4 and want to try this
By far one of the best drone idea I've seen.
dammm!!! this is awesome......the things we can do with technology
you guys have the best idea for drone fishing having it pull away from the drone.
The mariner drone must be perfect for fishing!
my question is what knots are you tying? Where the drone doesn't get dragged in while reeling it in? It looked like it broke off while the bait remains in the water?
Excellent post. Quite nice what Jaiden is offering Douglas. Be well, be safe.

+Jaiden Maclean where you guys from? Damn tuna fish did look good too bad I don't have that in Chicago
+D AnayaL8R thanks for the feedback mate! We are from Gold Coast, Australia. Do you live in Chicago? 🤙🏽
Where is this?
How far out would you say that you dropped the bait?
Hunter Cinnamons 350 meters :)
Is it illegal in your area? It is in Canada.
+Super Good Poop Where is that written down? Can you cite the reference?
***** Please do. Too many rules as it is. No need to go "guessing" on the wide world web
Completely legal In NSW and other states in Australia

how can i buy it and how much
The best ever drone fishing video of all the times, the other videos I’ve seen are not like this one, in these videos we can even see when the fish catch the bait.
How do you get the drone to release the bait?
We use a custom drone attachment with fishing release mechanism. Just about ready to launch the product, send me your email and I can keep you up to date and tell you more! Cheers, Jaiden
add me killakimdr@gmail.com
i just cought a 1.4lb catfish,video is uploading now
wow
What is your website?
The most legit fishing technique ever
ok, this is sooo cool. but how do you release the line so the fish doesn't drag your drone down?
+hdrjunkie Exactly! I'm wondering the same thing myself!!! I would so try this!
+hdrjunkie Copy that! Thanks!
Absolutely man! I'd love to learn more about how ya'll do that! Email to needmomoney3@gmail.com
No worries man. ill put together some info and send it your way
Beautiful short video ! Just wish you could have explained how the line from pole to drone then the release is accomplished ?
O’Neil thanks mate!! The line is release by our product the SKY RIGGER! A product we developed over a couple years. See more at www.seaulcer.com
Sea Ulcer Hey thanks gentlemen ! I’m looking into it .I want to catch fish like you guys !
Fishtastic
*I've had a drone all this time and i never knew i could do this! Now this is creative *
+Stuart Keefer Check out Powerlining. It's basically an air cannon that you use to launch your bait out way past the surf.
+Stuart Keefer some rubber bands and a key chain ring.. The tackle line is wedged in between the key chain ring. Yanks the line off the ring from force.
I will make a tutorial for sure. Stay tuned :)
+Jaiden Maclean I read in an article you're looking at starting a business doing this ... Just wondering what you know about the law prohibiting it in Australia?
Jaiden Maclean heloo.. can u show me, what is type from ur drone? thanks
Awesome video guys!! It's a lot cheaper than buying a boat for sure!
Thanks Matt, perfect for shark fishing off the beach too
can you tell me what knot / tackle you used to have the line released when the fish hit ?
Send me your email and I'll forward you some info
+Jaiden Maclean Thank You. Lenl@lombardo.com
Can you send me mindeezyae86@gmail
Can you send me too please : ggs972 @ hotmail.com without spaces
could you share a video on the release method you use for the bait, seems to come undone when tugged on....thanks
will share our secret soon!
name of music plz?

+Fresk Ology +2
+Fresk Ology music is Darude - Sandstorm
+locateyourhuevos hahahahah
You know, it used to be funny. Now you just sound like one more sheep :)
Hi jaiden can you please show me the way you attached the rope to your drone ?
Goodbye smart bomb, this is a new dawn of precision fishing. Lets fish not war.
Would you be willing to post the list of equipment used?
I will make a tutorial as soon as our product is ready mate
that's the most amazing thing I have ever seen in my life!
You gotta get out more. :)
+Richie Griswold you right lol
U should get out more!
Edgar Collazo Look at more things...
good
I kite fish 100 days out of the year, same concept but add a camera and pinpoint accuracy. Sick! Wish they made a drone that had an 8hr battery life! nice vid.
No way...
Amazing humans!
Good idea to use a drone for fishing. Nice footage!
That is great! now, if I could just do this same thing with my little Hubsan..

How did they rig the bait to the drone.
Drone Fishing Release Mech email jaiden@seaulcer.tv for more info
I'd like to see more clearly how you rig it to break away and not take the drone down with a strike.
Yeah me as well. I think you would probably have to go out and go drone fishing with one of the operators and then you could see it and learn it, it would cost a days fishing but would be worth it for sure.
@@paulwilliams8921 there's bait release attachments for drones, it works with electro-magnets I think

Thanks Omid!!
This is brilliant! You can trick the boat savvy Tuna every time.
Exactly man works a treat
That was one of the best fishing videos ever , where was that taken?
mark thanks mate! Taken in NSW, Australia!! 🙏🏼

So is the line stuck on with a magnet? The fish yanks hard enough and pulls it off the drone?
this isn't cheating. CHeating would be to attach the actual line and bait to the drone and fly the tuna back to the beach. thats cheating.
Where was that? How did you get the line on the drone and reel it in?
Australia, special drone fishing release mech we designed mate
Wow! That's really cool!
Is it legal to remove a tuna that size from the water?
There is a minimum size requirement to not release one but not a max requirement. In short, if you get Babies on the hook you have to release them.
O_O
Umm its not a special fish for being large, all tuna is large. Do you eat tuna? do you eat fish? Fkn hippies.
Guys.... Respect ! Much respect.
OH MY GAWD!!! THIS IS AMAZING! I have a drone that is specially designed for this - Going fishing off fort lauderdale this weekend
Flyers District what drone do you have ?
what kind of not did you have on the drone
wow just wow
How did you attach the fishing line to the drone? This is cool and we want to try it! Albeit not in the ocean, in a lake.
Drone fishing release mech we designed man. send me your email and i can keep you updated
How do you release the line?
i
I am designing a new Dronefishing release mechanism to suit all a variety of different models. Will make a tutorial as soon as my product is finished :)
Sea Ulcer have you got it now? Would love to try this💜✌️✨😁
amazing, what kind of line dis u use?
Man that was awesome! Thumbs up!~John
I would love to see like a 15 minute video like that. that was probably top 5 best footage of a fish catch on youtube
Thanks mate! i will make a full length vid when my product is released.
Awesome
At first I was thinking of this as cheating but then I got to thinking about it, it's no more cheating than all the big nets out there on the big boats and you are reeling it in yourself. Good job.
+angela sheppard People used balloons to get bait out before, this is not much different
I'll take a tuna fish sandwich
+Charlene Carter samesies
This is very interesting way of fishing. I definitely want to try it , but still this makes fishing easier since fisherman can locate the fish with drones. I think there should be limitation applied to this new way of fishing. Anyway, this can be a new category of fishing and thanks for sharing the excellent video.
Why are people always trying to tell other people what to do ?
This is exactly the kind of stupid shit I want to do with my friends as an adult
What make it stupid besides your comment! You sound like a arrogant piece of shit!
Love the video; what was the wind factor in mph?
max 20
My dreams
Fantastic idea. May I ask please, what knots do you use? How is the line released once a fish is caught? Once again thank you for sharing.
No knots mate, we use a custom release mechanism. Testing different prototypes now and should a product available in a month or so. Send me your email and I'll keep you up to date. Cheers. Jaiden
