I have seen probably a 100 videos on handhelds and probably a 100 more on the legion go specifically. This video is the first video that is genuine and to the point. Great video!
Ally owner here and I am happy for everyone who bought GPD, Steam Deck, and Legion Gos. Use what makes sense for you and makes you enjoy gaming the most
This dude deserves more subs. I've watched a lot of videos regarding the Legion Go. This is practical and down to earth reasoning and good advice. The Legion Go is nice, I have one, and I like it, but I prefer my Steam Deck for most of my mobile gaming for the reasons mentioned in this video. I agree that there needs to be time for Lenovo to refine the device and I look forward to seeing what they will do. Well done, great video. The best I've seen so far for the practicality of it all.
I am impressed by Legion Go's screen. Phenomenon colours, huge screen, 144hz and 2k resolution. I stream my games from my computer to the all over the house and the games look stunning. They also look really great when playing stand-alone (non stream). Obviously, software quirks need to be ironed out, but I am really impressed with it, much more so than my old Ally. I also ordered the Oled Steam Deck and I will compare them when it comes.
It's CRAZY how on point you are with everything being a small youtuber. Good job! You absolutely made my decision about the Legion Go over having the Ally. I'll be returning mine and getting the Legion Go! Thanks man!
This is the first Legion Go review that can be considered the most honest and reliable. You helped me decide which handheld to buy and I thank you for that. You deserve much more subscriptions, that's why I pressed this magic button 👍 Keep it up, I'm waiting for more content about Legion Go. Greetings from the UK
Just got one a couple days ago and I MUCH prefer it over the Deck I had early on in it's release (preorder). I sold my gaming laptop after I got the Legion Go and this will now be my primary laptop/pc. Your review was spot on.
Love my Lenovo Legion Go. I hope Lenovo can look past the negative feedback and recognize the amazing device they’ve created for us. It truly stands out!
And now you sir, are the reason why I’ll finally commit to choosing the legion go. I truly agree with most everything said in this and being a bit of a tech fellow like yourself, I see legitimate reason and definitely placed optimism. I happy to say that I have subscribed to a real human being with their mind that is alright with sharing their own experiences with this new machine.
Completely agree. Former owner of the Ally, they really dropped the ball on reliability. Legion Go still needs way better software, but the hardware is top notch and it can only get better in the coming months.
I’m a former Ally owner as well and in kinda upset at how people keep complaining about the Go and has never held one in real life. It feels way more premium and in the beginning the Rog had just as many issues. This whole fiasco has me baffled lol
I have the Deck, Ally, and the Go. The Ally is a fantastic machine when it comes to performance, but the battery life sucks, and the ergonomics are not excellent. I prefer the Deck and Go to the Ally, and will thus give my Ally to my Nephew.
@@Steveriich Thank you! I agree with you 100%. The legion Go is getting down play big time for no reason. I own a Steam Deck and I had more issues with it more than the Legion Go. People forget that the Steam Deck play less games, That the Steam Deck needs more tweaks or needs third party apps to function, and because it is Linux, it is almost impossible to mods games. Not only that, the performance is lacking. But sadly, no one will tell you that.
By far my favorite review. Everybody is nitpicking and seems like they had their mind made up before the device even came out. Half the things I see on Reddit and elsewhere, even on RUclips people don't even own the device and have critical things to say. How quickly we forget the Ally I returned it four times. Steam Deck three are RMAs. We find the need to like one device we must hate the other. I like all three for different reasons and have issues with all three for different reasons. I made a post elsewhere regarding the Ally, it was only three short months ago we were talking about storming the castle regarding the SD card issue, a Band-Aid type fix like just raising fan curves. Now everybody's using the ally as the standard that must be met. Once again don't get me wrong I own all three devices steam Deck, Ally and now go. And by the way all the complaints about the Go are all software related and can be easily fixed. Except VRR of course which 90% of the people that complain about it couldn't tell the difference anyway, they're just in an echo chamber..
I had an OG steam deck and sold it to purchase the OLED Steam Deck, However, i came across the Legion and decided to order one and try it out. Good down-to-earth review thank you!
I have the legion Go and love it. It Plays almost every game and even though the hardware won’t push games up to the 2K resolution and 144hz on the beautiful 8.8” screen. If you are streaming though which I do it does and screen size and battery are very important to me. I am liking the kick stand and FPS mode also.
Thanks for explaining this to non go owners. I have it and no regrets. For the battery slow charging, it can be fix by installing the beta bios and then switch the slow charging to fast charging also I noticed the bottom USB c charges faster than the top on my unit. space app will be better but for now am using playnite which gives me the ability to suspend game like quick resume it still need some work but its a better alternative to any other game library manager for now.
Reminds me of the good old youtube reviews. Well done 👍 I hate all the bells and whistles in the reviews of today, tapping the box and rough cuts, claiming stuff that is not important. You my friend made me decide to go and buy one, as I have been checking for the last 6 months since Ally was announced. Thanks again and please keep your videos coming.
2 months later, I bought the go the same day I wrote my comment above and boy do I enjoy it. Maybe the first didgital toy I use everyday for quite sometime. The weight and size of screen qre just perfect, I don't even remember to launch my consoles.
Bro, great review, I am a Legion owner and I haven't picked up my Steam Deck since, no looking back from a 7.0 inch screen to now a whopping 8.8 inch display ...Legion display is immaculate... Playing my games have never been so good ... What Legion should do about the joy cons, maybe to have a different pair with minimal buttons, if one don't like the button placement ..
The beautiful thing is they come off. Hopefully we get third party joysticks like the ones on the Switch. I would also have to say it has the best screen I have ever seen on a hand-held device. I also ordered the Steam Oled for my brother and I will compare them soon. I can see myself keeping the Legion go due to the performance, screen, and modular nature of its controllers.
VRR is noticeable with FPS’s like RE7, just completed it on both the Ally and Steam Deck. VRR enabled me to complete the game at 1080p max settings, it’s so good. I can’t go back no matter how promising the legion go looks. FOS mode looks insane, definitely for RTS and competitive shooters. The $750 price tag for the 1tb model is tempting for sure.
Yeah….sorry bro but you saying VRR doesn’t matter is just cope, the fps is all over the place with these kind of handhelds, just ignoring that seems wrong to me
No VRR on a 60 Hz display is significantly different from no VRR on a 144 Hz display, the higher the refresh rate goes, the less benefit there is to VRR.
VRR is specifically designed to make large frame rate jumps smoother between the transitions. It does have limits… on the Ally it doesn’t kick in until the frame rate hits 40 fps. So the games you’re playing would need to be able to at least hit that magic number to be able to make use of the feature. With today’s AAA games and the Z1E APU in these systems, it’s hit and miss on whether you’re able to get the frame rate up to that magic number. But on games where you can hit that limit, it really is a night and day difference when it kicks in. I agree that on a lot of AAA games you probably won’t notice it on these systems… especially if you play on the higher resolution settings. But if you dial the graphic settings down it really is very noticeable.
@jeffreyharness3582 but at 144hz, the benefits of it are negible. It doesn't really matter if your frame rate is fluctuating because the display is pretty much always ready to receive a frame. Any microstuttering or frame tearing goes largely unnoticed. Definitely not a deal breaker for many. Because they didn't have to spend money on VRR they were able to spend the money elsewhere. There is a lot of potential with the detachable controllers. It opens up the door to possibly getting 3rd party accessories with different button layouts and features for different types of games. Someone who like MMOs or RTS games might want a left controller with a few more hot keys. Someone who primarily plays fighting games might want a different D-pad. Racing and dog fighting games can make good use of the gyros. There are a lot of possibilities to tailor your device to meet your exact needs by not going with integrated controls like the Ally or Steamdeck.
Indeed 100% agree with you and love what you said. You make SO much sense because I felt like I was in the twilight zone watching those RUclipsrs you mentioned. The nit picking and negativity is so excessive. I love your take with RTS mode, I wish Lenovo had marketed it that way! The screen is the number #1 reason I am buying the Go and that is a do it all windows handheld that suits my needs. I want to watch Netflix/Hulu/Prime video/RUclips/Streaming tv apps, Kindle book reading when I use it as a tablet, mobile gaming, PS plus cloud streaming, Xbox pc Gamepass, surfing the net, social media etc etc! Your video to me, is the voice of REASON at last. Thank you, keep up the great work young man!
You have totally right, they all are destroying the Legion go with the bad reviews, and that's really bad for the competition if people only care about the reviews coming from those RUclipsrs. I still gone buy my Legion go regardless what anyone think, I don't want anymore to mess with my steamdeck because some games don't work on it or some exclusive games out of Steam, that's why I will get the Go for that
I agree with you! I’m still going to buy the Go because it meets my needs in a windows handheld. The screen size is my main reason for getting it, the detachable controllers are big too and how it can do SO much. It seems like an amazing computer
I agree with your VRR point, but the vertical screen diminishes your RTS mode argument since most of the best RTS games are old. I like almost everything about the system though so hopefully I can get a version 2 or 3 in a few years. The Deck is still enough for me right now.
Great review, I really like my legion go, I had issues at first, but now after updates and a system reinstall , it’s running smoothly, play Diablo 4 constantly along with game pass titles, I agree it’s a great handleld
Legion Go (User) The screen and hardware is great. Joystick detachment is smooth. The issue I've had are the joystick dead zones require a serious software update, outside of that the device has been impressive. (2-3 hours of use review). The device weight feels good (subjective as I am someone who stays physically fit). Feel free to ask questions or request for another quick review within a few weeks to a month. Disclaimer, this is my first handheld device (outside of a gamersx2 S23 Ultra Emulation gaming). I skipped the Steam Deck & Rog Ally (I found those devices to look absolutely ugly, and didn't see myself hanging out them.) Just finished the video; the video reviewer is being honest.
Love your review. I expected a device like this for years and finally bought it last week! It's a perfect mix of tablet, laptop and gaming device I can travel with, work with, read manga with, game everything to freaking PS4 with and so on (everything I hoped the Surface Pro line would come to be and never did). Thanks Lenovo!
In hand to me it feels and looks pretty premium. Haven't seen anyone talking about the joysticks being a chrome like metal look that looks really nice and also reflects the rgb lighting in them like a mirror
Nice review man! Interesting take on the RTS mode. To me what matters the most is handheld FPS gaming. So I kinda like the FPS mode but it's not going to be my main use case. But I'm digging that huge improved screen like you said and also the extra performance on top of the Steam Deck. My worry is that with fps mode going on the trackpad may be a bit of an afterthought and you can't really use it for aiming in games. Have you tried it out to see how it works?
My man!! I think you pretty much laid it out there. The handheld is awesome. Yes there are a couple issues but hey nothing comes out perfectly. To me it runs great, not too concerned about the speakers as most of the time I used headphones. But overall, this this runs excellent. It emulates perfectly. Got no complains. Good job on the review
Great review. I definitely want one. I love my Steam Deck, but want a Windows portable device. I feel this is a better choice over the Ally. I hope to see more software improvements.
@@tuluhanbicer6663 I have a Legion Go and a Steam Deck now. I like both, but play the Legion Go more often. If you have lots of PC experience, the Legion Go is great. For casual users, the Steam Deck is probably easier to get up and going with.
Yes yo idk what everyone's obsession with VRR is. I literally never heard anyone talking about it on handhelds before the ROG Ally. It's also not even on steam deck and i never had issues with screen tearing on the Deck.
Yeah and if you listen to all these other RUclips channels they act like no VRR is the end of the world when there by far favorite device is a steam deck with no VRR and portrait display lol
I do wish the legion go had VRR, but for me it’s better than the rog ally. Better screen colors and size, plus the detachable joy con like controllers. 👌 rog ally is great and has way better software, just wish the screen matched size!
Maybe it’s because I don’t have a dog in the fight, but each of the major devices, The Deck, Ally, and Go have plenty of RUclipsrs who took issue with them. You say the Ally didn’t get enough criticism, but I remember seeing several videos where people claimed the Ally was getting too much criticism…even some that were blaming users for their SD card issues after Asus admitted the issue. My point is we see what we want to see. The Go is the new kid on the block, so the scrutiny will be higher at the moment. But the Ally and the Deck went through the same thing. Things will calm down once Lenovo gets the software issues ironed out.
I can agree with that for sure we do see what we want to see. I try not to be biased but there’s definitely some there. Thanks for watching and the input!
Great Video! I agree with almost everything you said. I’ve also been surprised by some of the seemingly negative press the go has received in other reviews I’ve watched. After using the go for a little over a week now it is a great machine with excellent design choices. Legion space does need some tweaking, but it doesn’t have any big concerns for me in its current form. I also own a Steam deck that I don’t really intend to return to after using the go. The only things I don’t really agree with is that I think the kick stand is awesome and the speakers are fine (but not great), definitely good enough for me.
I am writing this 3-4 weeks after your video. I bought the Lenovo Legion Go and dont regret it. With the new software updates, bios update, vga driver update, etc this is running smooth. I am really happy with it.. I was tempted to get a steam deck oled but i love the flexibility of a real PC in a handheld-ish form factor.
I'm 100% with you on this. Definitely subbed. I think most of the time, my opinions are on the unpopular side but is mainly because I always try to think outside the box. In fact this device is not the one that I am really eyeing right now but I really love what legion go is doing here and can think of maaaaaany different use case for it. (I want oculink port so I like the gpd win mini but if ayaneo flip ds would happen and it would have oculink port then that's my dream) I agree with you the legion go is currently the best windows handheld "right now" and that the Steam Deck is still really relevant because of SteamOS and all the optimization that they did
Yeah the deck will be around for a really long time because of how good steamOS is. I loved my win4 but I just don’t see using it since I can do everything with legion. Thanks for watching!
I def like that lenovo are trying something different Idk if I would personally care for the mouse action, but I would like the detachable controllers for having the tablet by itself. I play on pc because I like the options, but I play with a controller because I don’t want to use mouse and keyboard… i don’t want to factor in a table to be able to play. I recently got a steam deck because I wanted the controller and I wanted to use the thing in my hands… not on a table. I think the VRR support is more of a personal preference thing. Kinda like people saying an oled screen is a ‘game changer’ when it’s certainly not going to affect game performance. Idk maybe I’m not superficial enough. Either way, all handheld pcs have their pros and cons and I’m glad we’re getting some awesome options.
thanks for the detailed clip! My only reservations about the Legion Go were portrait mode and being able to turn it off-mid game & power it back to resume gaming without issues. Seems like portrait mode really is overblown by reviewers and is really a non-issue after watching ur clip. I just got a steam deck oled yesterday, and LOVE it everything about it, but really disappointed in how so many games in my library don't work on it or need tinkering to get it to work. It's been more of a hassle than I thought when everyone is hyping up. I think Legion Go, with it's versatility / performance and having Win11 is actually an advantage since you can play just about anything on it is better all around. Gonna see about swapping this Steamdeck for Legion Go.
I think the point the other reviewers are making is that the average consumer wont know how to so easily figure out a workaround for a game they just want to pick up and play. I dont feel like the reviews are saying "the lenovo legion go is a bad device" it feels more like they are saying its not user friendly, which it isnt tbh lol. Im still on the fence whether i wanna buy this or the ROG Ally... My buddy has the go and its a BEAST, he seems to really be enjoying it, especially more so recently after some updates. This was a very well done and down to earth video. You should be way up there and im sure you will be.
Thanks for the video. No issue with with no VRR, just stutters under 30fps,.the same as with my Ally. Definitely like the rebranding to RTS mode,. hopefully they listen but IG they were going after MnK players. I play 90% FPS but on controller so gamepad mode works for me with 4-6 back buttons.. speaking of which, never have any issues with hitting any button by mistake on controllers. Hope they change the menu and guide buttons, apparently they are based on community update page. Yeah would love one of those big time YT reviewers to make a comparison video of the SD card between the Go and Ally, oh wait... yeah I was like WTH is Phawx going with this, when he showcased games and portrait Monitor issues, who are these ppl playing them.. never heard any of them lol. Hopefully they get the software up and running better. The speakers lol. Ally has the best for sure but then again I'm using headphones which I can either use the 3.5mm or extra USB C Port
The best video about the device. The playing Total War games on handheld gaming platform is outstanding thing personally for me. That is really dreams came true. I've just started thinking about to buy this device.
Best well thought out review of the legion Go. He hit all the right points, all the other reviews ive watched are all fluffs, and didnt really give time to the Legion Go, they all just wanted clicks. And this is two months later watching this video since it was released.
The Rts-mode is a huge one for me, thank you so much for pointing that out! Total war, company of heroes and even bannerlord are exactly the games that i would have tried first
Early Millennials have a special appreciation of this tech. Handhelds with the ability to play AAA titles on med to high specs at even 25FPS, much less the reality of it getting an easy 60 fps, is a dream we had as kids that we thought would take at least 50 to 60 years before we even got a crappy prototype of that kind of power. These handheld PCs are actually extremely unique and even now are beyond its time. Nothing else on the market plays these titles or even launches them in a compact handheld form. People need to understand how incredibly difficult it likely was to even invent something that was efficent enough just to extract the heat from the power, much less making chips small enough that play AAA titles. If you grew up on the original game boy and handheld kids consoles like the toys r us tiger handheld games from disney and movies, you know how cool this is.
When Isaw the GO, the first thing I though was that will be great for rts. So I agree with you there. And if they market it that way I think people would have had the eyes opened. And because the internet is the way it is people would be saying look this is great you could use it for first person mode.
Out of curiosity, why are you getting rid of the win 4? I currently own a steam deck, I'm waiting for my Win 4 to arrive, and am trialing the Go during Best Buy's holiday return period. I was having second thoughts about the go until an epiphany happened the other night and I took off the controllers and just casually started using it as a tablet and it came to me how versatile of a device it really was.
I’m getting rid of the win4 because the games I really want to play are difficult on the 6inch screen. It’s a good device but I’ve put some much time in to the legion and I know the win4 is just going to sit in the case and never get used.
I had a feeling it was something like that because I’m already dreading I would feel that way when I get my hands on it. I guess only a first hand impression will tell. Thanks for the reply and keep up the good work. Always nice hearing a different angle for once.
The fact you're playing CoH3... Tip of the hat good sir! This is what I'm trying to play on either the SD oled or Lenovo. I haven't decided which one i want
Thank you for such a honest review! I’m in the market for a handheld and deciding between the Legion Go and Ally X but so overwhelmed with the resolution, VRR, FRS3?, differences. I know I want a windows based unit (so I can use it for work stuff) but love the larger Legion Go display (and higher resolution for RUclips and other stuff) but have read so much glitches on the Legion Go (no FRS or VRR, very loud fans, uncomfortable controllers/buttons on back…) it has me leaning towards and waiting for the Ally X. But still undecided.
I agree with the points made in this video. the lack of VRR is something that I was initially concerned about, but after owning it, its a feature I don't miss at all. VSync is still a thing, and works very well. The large and high quality screen is still amazing and absolutely makes up for a lot of the other short comings of the device.
Loved your review and observations. I agree with you that it seems from other reviewers that Lenovo is being punished for attempting to innovate in the space. I don't have a Legion Go, but I own the ROG Ally and the Steam deck and plan to pick up the Legion Go within the next month. Thanks again for your commentary and observations.
the speakers are on top because joys are detachable.. they have to place it somewhere other than the joy sticks. if am an engineer.. i would make small holes on the sticks near the screen on each.. and let the speakers blow from sides and the joys if attached will redirect the sound to your face through holes.. when joys detached the sound will blow from the sides giving better surround effect compared to top.
Yeah that sounds pretty awesome, I’m curious if there’s a Legion go 2 what they do to try and solve it because it’s the biggest issue outside of button placement for me
Great video, I liked & subscribed. The Lenovo Legion GO is by far the most beautiful handheld PC I've seen. The sleek design, and almost borderless screen. It's far from perfect, but I really like it.
Yeh the "portrait" display is a complete nothingburger. If someone is able to find one of the rare games that have issues, they can also find the solutions. VRR would be nice, but it's not a dealbreaker. Wish the battery was like 60wh as well, but 49.2wh isn't terrible. Speakers are probably the biggest miss, but seemingly Lenovo has some solutions incoming that will make them better at the driver/software level. The 8'8 screen is in a class of it's own, and the 144hz is actually relevant for shooter games, where FPS mode helps make it easily the #1 handheld for shooters. Strategy games is another thing that it excels at with its massive screen and ability to be a proper vertical mouse. The reviews are nowhere near positive enough considering how solid the Legion Go is. Honestly most of these reviewers listed are just major fanboys of the Steam Deck, eventhough it's strictly worse in nearly everyway. The new Steam Deck Oled claws back some of the beating the obsolete steam deck was taking, but even still it's looking up at the King, the Legion Go, from it's perch on the silver medal stand.
Totally agree I think people were expecting a steam deck console experience but they received a laptop instead loving my legion people just stare when I pull it out lol
Perfectly said yes a lot of top 1 percenters complaining about a lot of stuff that most people won’t even touch ‼️I’ve had my GO for 3 days I’m a first time PC gamer I don’t even know what VRR is I’m not spending hundreds of dollars to game on a tiny baby screen I don’t even know how those sold successfully. I also think the legion Go is being blackballed/ & or gated by other companies & some RUclipsrs are simply not allowed to like the Legion GO due to their other obligations the gaming industry is truly a hardball playing mafia
Good take, and nice approach watching the big name's reviews first. This could be a solid approach going forward. Review the device, but react to the big reviews as well. You said a lot of what I've been thinking too, the other reviews went into depth about stuff that doesn't matter to me that much. Like you said - who cares about portrait mode or VRR on a handheld?! I wouldn't have even thought about it. I love this device so far. I never even considered a handheld before this device for two main reasons... #1 screen size, and #2 RTS!!! like you said. All my PC games are RTS or God games. Detachable controller for a mouse - gamechanger!
I really appreciate this comment, I didn’t even think of it this way because not being a big channel not getting review units or anything and then trying to spin that into a positive. Really respect that outlook. Thanks for comment and watching!
Looking forward to my first Handheld PC + Gaming Experience. i'm 53 years old, i'm sure the bigger screen will benefit for my old eyes, mainly wanted this for Diablo Immortal and a few simple game titles.
You are totally right, it seems that lenovo is getting bullied for small things that can be fixed in future updates but Ally "it ruins your sd card but no big deal... you can always replace it, easy..." and Lenovo "oh it doesn't have vrr that mean it's trash, even if i cannot see the damn difference" I trust Lenovo and I think it will become way better with each update.
Totally agree with almost everything you said. Except for the speakers, they are not good, but they are not shit. And Lenovo said from the start that they were not going to give much attention to speakers cause almost everyone would use headphones. Except from that really good video, thanks!
great video man! Im actually about to purchase the LLG in a few days because i want screen size and screen quality. Lenovo will undoubtedly update all these issues very soon and they have a huge update coming out soon. Once all these are smoothed out through patches and updates it will stand alone as the king of handhelds. These arent design flaws, theyre software flaws. They can be fixed.
I got the go yesterday. I watched RUclips videos to get it setup. I think it’s better than my steam deck due to the increased screen size. The problem with these pc handhelds is that developers are not optimizing their games for these small screens like Nintendo Switch. The legion go’s screen size has greatly improved my gaming experience. All that other tech stuff is cool, but I don’t care if I can’t hardly see what’s happening in the game.
I completely agree with you. O think the system is getting bad rap and reviews because so new. I've only found a few games that don't work. The speakers are good but need a upgrade but they work like the switch. I love mine and was debating to get the right ally or the legion go. Better choice so far
One of the greatest analysis i have seen. Thank you for this vidéo, i was wondering on its capacity to play rts and total war games so i warmly thank you for this specific subject. I agree that vrr is a wrong subject; by the way i appreciate your opinion and honesty. I will reçeive mine in 2 days so your video is a masterpiece of wellness. Emmanuel from south of france
I'm extremely pedantic about visuals and tearing. I notice it heavily on PC if I haven't turned on Vsync, Gsync, or VRR. I can honestly say that I have never seen tearing on my Legion Go even when playing at ultra low frame rates. That said, the 144hz has effect. It's mainly due to subdivisions and frame timing. Basically put, even if you are running 40fps, you will get less tearing and less noticeable dips if you're running at 144hz instead of 60hz. As a simple explanation, even if you're running at 20fps and there's screen tearing, at 144hz you'll see that tear for less time because the next frame has refreshed before your eyes fully register it.
this man right here all of his oppinion is absolutely right. the big tech reviewer need unique content to talk. and mos of the is just tech guy. as for mainstream user we must see from real life experience than just numbers
Appreciate your well explained discussion of the Go. I have a Win 4, and am getting a SD OLED (arrives tomorrow). I will skip this generation of the Go, but will watch and see what Lenovo does in the future with this device.
Lml😂 my z690 hero was one of those motherboards! I was blow away when I checked an saw the capacitor upside down. good take man seems real genuine, I've held off on grabbing a handheld via my use case but the GO seems like an option for ME. BUT I'm also a video file lol and the Oled/hdr display on the new deck for my "eyes" seems compelling but the performance is a Drawback, Im trying to fine-tune what my use case would be, mostly big rpgs, story modes, odd ball cod, but idk if the new deck can run those good enough or stick with the sdr/bigger screen of the go zeeeshhh😂
The only reason i never got a legion go... Well 2 reasons is because i have a steam deck, onexfly, mini pro and win 4 and my wife would definitely not be happy that i bought ANOTHER handheld. The second reason is no 2280 M.2, i don't understand how the win 4 can have a 2280 but these massive devices can't.
Speaking of RTS games, Does Starcraft 1 work? Diablo 1? I specifically want to know about sim golf. I saw you mentioned a wrapper of some sort which would prolly be needed for that.
I like your take on this. I was thinking on buying it, but i might do that later not now, trying to build my pc at the moment. But I will get it probably next year.
Definitely the best review for the legion go. So funny to listen to reviewers make such a big issue about no vrr and portrait mode but in real life the massiave screen and detachable joysticks are nothing other machines can do. They talk about steam deck so huge but its only half the power of legion go its non sense talking about those small upgrades but criticizing the revolutionary legion go. those tiny screen vs go s screen i choose 100% biggest screen
Hey great Video if you read this i got a Question. Im thinking about getting a Lenovo Go. But im a bit unsure because you said a few older games will not work because of the Screen but dont tell wich. Beside using the device as a Handheld i also plan to use it to play it in Tabletop mode With Keyboard and Mouse. And i Plan to play some older games i havent played for a long time like Dragon Age 1+2 , Deus Ex , Half Life 2 , Warcraft 3 , Starcraft 2 or some older FPS Games. Do they not work on the legion ?
Thank you for finally saying it. They do those for clicks im sure. Cuz there is now way people saying pretty much everything about the go is either bad or the "Ally" is better when they were still selling that for full price with a sd card slot that dont work lol. Then they will say "just upgrade the ssd" lol smh. The Go jus came out they talking like its been out for a month or a year for that matter smh. Thank you bro!
I have seen probably a 100 videos on handhelds and probably a 100 more on the legion go specifically. This video is the first video that is genuine and to the point. Great video!
I think the handheld community will become far more toxic than the console community... just enjoy each device they are all fantastic machines
I can see that happening
Imo, I believe that the root problem of toxicity in these communities is people trying to justify their purchases to themselves.
@@GoToSleep1993 yes completely agree with that

Ally owner here and I am happy for everyone who bought GPD, Steam Deck, and Legion Gos. Use what makes sense for you and makes you enjoy gaming the most
Finally a simple, objective and intelligent approach to hardware review.
First review of this device that is actually exactly how I feel using my Legion Go. Great down to earth review with the technical depth to boot.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the feedback and watching!
@@sephiroth4543what method are you using to stream it all over the house?
Agreed this video is REALLY the best IMO better than all the others I’ve seen.
@minah.6369 Steam link, all your games on Steam can be played anywhere in your house and they will use your PCs GPU to run all the powerful AAA games
You deserve much more subscriptions, that's why I pressed this magic button 👍
Keep it up, I'm waiting for more content about Legion Go.
Greetings from the UK
That’s awesome, thanks for watching!
Just got one a couple days ago and I MUCH prefer it over the Deck I had early on in it's release (preorder). I sold my gaming laptop after I got the Legion Go and this will now be my primary laptop/pc. Your review was spot on.
Sweet!
100% with you on that one, thanks for watching!
That’s exactly why I made the video lol
I totally agree. Software issues aside, the Legion Go is a fine piece of technology.
Thanks for watching!
@@joystickayrton concerned about the problems
@@blanka4545then don't buy it. Simple
100% agree it really was like everyone had decided how they felt weeks ago. Thanks for watching and the input!
I had an OG steam deck and sold it to purchase the OLED Steam Deck, However, i came across the Legion and decided to order one and try it out. Good down-to-earth review thank you!
Thanks for watching! Let me know how you like it
Bro that is the best most straightforward review ive seen thus far about the legion go
I have the legion Go and love it. It Plays almost every game and even though the hardware won’t push games up to the 2K resolution and 144hz on the beautiful 8.8” screen. If you are streaming though which I do it does and screen size and battery are very important to me. I am liking the kick stand and FPS mode also.
Best Lenovo Legion Go review yet! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Yeah for sure. Thanks for watching!
Reminds me of the good old youtube reviews. Well done 👍
I hate all the bells and whistles in the reviews of today, tapping the box and rough cuts, claiming stuff that is not important.
Yeah button placement is really the only thing that gets me lol thanks for watching
I love it. It’s replaced my Xbox series s. And I haven’t had any issues
That’s awesome, glad to hear thanks for watching!
@@joystickayrton actually I do have one issue. When I toggle the quick settings it also controls the game.
Dude your point about VRR was on point. Thanks for the clarity
Wouldn’t VRR also save battery life cuz you limit refresh rate on the display when unnecessary? Seems useful for handhelds if that’s the case.
Your attitude towards positivity is marvellous, guys like you should be leading this platform, sadly World may work opposite to what we often think !
Great overview of the Lenovo legion Go 👍👍👍.
Thanks for watching!
Yeah completely agree, thanks for watching!
Yeah big screens a must for me really killed off me caring about the win4. Thanks for watching!
I didn't care about bad reviews just bought 1
I agree with your VRR point, but the vertical screen diminishes your RTS mode argument since most of the best RTS games are old. I like almost everything about the system though so hopefully I can get a version 2 or 3 in a few years. The Deck is still enough for me right now.
Yeah the deck is a great device and is gunna be number one or two for most everyone for years. Thanks for watching!
Great review, I really like my legion go, I had issues at first, but now after updates and a system reinstall , it’s running smoothly, play Diablo 4 constantly along with game pass titles, I agree it’s a great handleld
Great to hear!
Thanks for your feedback and watching!
♥
Been a month how are you liking the go?
Love your review. I expected a device like this for years and finally bought it last week! It's a perfect mix of tablet, laptop and gaming device I can travel with, work with, read manga with, game everything to freaking PS4 with and so on (everything I hoped the Surface Pro line would come to be and never did). Thanks Lenovo!
This was such an in depth review, Information that I didnt hear on other's videos. You explained everything clearly and easily. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
In hand to me it feels and looks pretty premium. Haven't seen anyone talking about the joysticks being a chrome like metal look that looks really nice and also reflects the rgb lighting in them like a mirror
Yeah I agree they feel nice and look good. They are wildly lighter than they look
Yeah the track pad is really only for navigating windows. Thanks for watching!
@@joystickayrton got it. Thanks for sharing!
Really great video and really honest review. Thanks a lot. I really believe this review will help me decide which handheld to buy.
That’s awesome, thanks for watching!
That’s awesome, thanks for watching!
Great review. I definitely want one. I love my Steam Deck, but want a Windows portable device. I feel this is a better choice over the Ally. I hope to see more software improvements.
Thanks for watching! The ally was a nightmare for me but a promising one

Lmao you never witnessed the whole hype behind ps5 vrr 🤣 do yourself a favor a do abit of research before commenting
@@joystickayrton exactly lol
I do wish the legion go had VRR, but for me it’s better than the rog ally. Better screen colors and size, plus the detachable joy con like controllers. 👌 rog ally is great and has way better software, just wish the screen matched size!
@@user-xz4cw2hg9ybut it 144hz your eye won't even see it happen so again it don't matter. Wait for the updates . Nothing has been yet
Vrr is not a big deal. I agree! Lenovo legion go will get more updates and bios update
@@joystickayrton You're welcome...it was a great, well thought out review!
Thanks for the input and watching!
I agree 100 percent. I love my legion go! Have no issue with it!
(I want oculink port so I like the gpd win mini but if ayaneo flip ds would happen and it would have oculink port then that's my dream)
I agree with you the legion go is currently the best windows handheld "right now" and that the Steam Deck is still really relevant because of SteamOS and all the optimization that they did
Yeah the deck will be around for a really long time because of how good steamOS is. I loved my win4 but I just don’t see using it since I can do everything with legion. Thanks for watching!
I def like that lenovo are trying something different
Idk if I would personally care for the mouse action, but I would like the detachable controllers for having the tablet by itself.
Couldn’t agree more, thanks for watching!
thanks for the detailed clip!
Yeah I couldn’t have said all of that any better. Thanks for watching!
I like the review, your playing style is exactly how I play. It's so close, If it was this with an OLED screen I would buy it
Thanks for watching!
I have it and I love it. And you are totally right on your review. And it is getting so much better with the updates.
Total war, company of heroes and even bannerlord are exactly the games that i would have tried first
And it works super well. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching!
Sold LCD steam deck for the Go, and love it, every single game works, oldies and newer ones, what a fantastic devide.
I personally don’t like the ally for anything outside of gaming but that’s all preference the legion go is a big windows tablet with controls
I agree with the points made in this video. the lack of VRR is something that I was initially concerned about, but after owning it, its a feature I don't miss at all. VSync is still a thing, and works very well. The large and high quality screen is still amazing and absolutely makes up for a lot of the other short comings of the device.
Yeah oddly enough I’m slightly bipolar on the VRR now lol
Loved your review and observations. I agree with you that it seems from other reviewers that Lenovo is being punished for attempting to innovate in the space. I don't have a Legion Go, but I own the ROG Ally and the Steam deck and plan to pick up the Legion Go within the next month. Thanks again for your commentary and observations.
Thanks for watching!
the speakers are on top because joys are detachable.. they have to place it somewhere other than the joy sticks.
if am an engineer.. i would make small holes on the sticks near the screen on each.. and let the speakers blow from sides and the joys if attached will redirect the sound to your face through holes.. when joys detached the sound will blow from the sides giving better surround effect compared to top.
You have a point there.
Yeah that sounds pretty awesome, I’m curious if there’s a Legion go 2 what they do to try and solve it because it’s the biggest issue outside of button placement for me
You sir are going blow up on You Tube, amazing review perfectly articulated 👌
very good review especially pointing out rts mode it looks super
Great video, I liked & subscribed.
The Lenovo Legion GO is by far the most beautiful handheld PC I've seen. The sleek design, and almost borderless screen. It's far from perfect, but I really like it.
Screens almost perfect! Thanks for watching
Dolby Access for audio is cool!
I didn’t even think about that should definitely try it
You are the best reviewer on RUclips. Sub well deserved 👍🏿
I just tweeted your youtube video to Lenovo on X . Everyone should too 😄👍
Yeh the "portrait" display is a complete nothingburger.
100% agree couldn’t have said it better. Thanks for watching!
Totally agree I think people were expecting a steam deck console experience but they received a laptop instead loving my legion people just stare when I pull it out lol
Thanks for watching!
I love the fact that there's a kickstand and that the controllers detach. I kinda want one just to use as a windows tablet that can game
Yeah the tablet mode is really way better than expected
I cant wait to pick mine up and try some emulators on it. Its giving portable PC home console and thats exactly what I've been looking for
Let me know how you like it!
Finaly someone talk about rts
Im gunna do a full RTS video with like 15 different games soon
Yeah bigger screen definitely a plus and should play all of those great! Thanks for watching
You are totally right, it seems that lenovo is getting bullied for small things that can be fixed in future updates but Ally "it ruins your sd card but no big deal... you can always replace it, easy..." and Lenovo "oh it doesn't have vrr that mean it's trash, even if i cannot see the damn difference"
I trust Lenovo and I think it will become way better with each update.
Thanks for watching, completely agree
Totally agree with almost everything you said. Except for the speakers, they are not good, but they are not shit. And Lenovo said from the start that they were not going to give much attention to speakers cause almost everyone would use headphones. Except from that really good video, thanks!
Thanks for watching much appreciated!
great video man!
You’re right device had hate in early days .. but now it’s number 1 .. months later
I completely agree
I got the go yesterday. I watched RUclips videos to get it setup. I think it’s better than my steam deck due to the increased screen size. The problem with these pc handhelds is that developers are not optimizing their games for these small screens like Nintendo Switch. The legion go’s screen size has greatly improved my gaming experience. All that other tech stuff is cool, but I don’t care if I can’t hardly see what’s happening in the game.
Completely agree, thanks for watching!
That’s awesome, glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
Okay I’ll definitely test that with the refresh rate. Thanks for the info!
this man right here all of his oppinion is absolutely right. the big tech reviewer need unique content to talk. and mos of the is just tech guy. as for mainstream user we must see from real life experience than just numbers
Yeah I usually agree with most of the stuff they say this time just felt really weird. Thanks for watching!
Appreciate your well explained discussion of the Go. I have a Win 4, and am getting a SD OLED (arrives tomorrow). I will skip this generation of the Go, but will watch and see what Lenovo does in the future with this device.
Really curious to see how you would use this as a laptop daily driver too. Would a bluetooth kb combo be able to fully replace laptop use?
Be actually saw a foldable Bluetooth KB on the nerd nest podcast once. I’m going to do up an accessory video
Yeah I agree, that’s crazy about your hero board. Thanks for watching!
You got the real point! I have Lenovo
og ally\SD OLED. I love legion go and SD OLED!
Came here for the review noticed the sprint Enduro trophy🤘🏼🤘🏼
A man of the people! Subscribed!
Thanks for watching!
Finally someone that give good results
Thanks for watching!
Speaking of RTS games, Does Starcraft 1 work? Diablo 1? I specifically want to know about sim golf. I saw you mentioned a wrapper of some sort which would prolly be needed for that.
Those I’m working on testing with the RTS video I’m making! I will keep you posted
@@joystickayrton sweet man, appreciate it.
Couldn’t agree more, thanks for watching!
Is the lack of VRR based solely on the screen? If I plug the LG into a monitor with freesync it'll be able to use VRR right?
Hey great Video if you read this i got a Question. Im thinking about getting a Lenovo Go. But im a bit unsure because you said a few older games will not work because of the Screen but dont tell wich. Beside using the device as a Handheld i also plan to use it to play it in Tabletop mode With Keyboard and Mouse. And i Plan to play some older games i havent played for a long time like Dragon Age 1+2 , Deus Ex , Half Life 2 , Warcraft 3 , Starcraft 2 or some older FPS Games. Do they not work on the legion ?
they are working on the legion go, much older game they are talking about, not half life 2 or deus ex
