Have to keep the momentum the football program has going right now and get more people in the city interested. Also last year’s record wasn’t really as bad as it looked. We lost our starting qb 4 weeks in and still beat a couple playoff teams and hung on vs the national champions in the FCS

    It would be great if Mizzou scheduled an annual in-state rivalry game with the Bears. It would bring revenue and exposure to MSU, as well as provide an even more attractive option for high school stars to stay in the Show Me State. Iowa and Iowa State do this even though they are in different conferences.

    • @prisma8525
      @prisma8525 5 месяцев назад

      it would just be a blowout every year. Iowa and Iowa State are both solid established FBS teams. Mizzou is a top 10 FBS school and Missouri State is probably going to be pretty close to the bottom of the rankings.

    • @sportshistorybuff319
      @sportshistorybuff319 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@prisma8525 Interesting. Do you not think that the prestige of being FCS would slowly draw better alumni support and better recruits wanting to start ASAP instead of going to Mizzou and sitting for 1-2 years? Like Texas State is slowly trying to swim with the big boys in the Lone Star State?

    • @samcoppock3370
      @samcoppock3370 3 месяца назад

      @@prisma8525don’t let recency bias fool you. Historically Mizzou has been average in football. Yeah if they played in the immediate future then it might be a blowout but Mizzou almost lost to Middle Tenn State this past season and actually did lose to them in the past. The last time the two teams played, MO State hung 43 points on them even tho they were just an FCS school that won 4 games. You give MO State FBS resources and it turns into a rivalry game, then I’d be willing to bet we’d see some competitive games.

    They are going to make more money just in fan turnout for the competition. They will be playing in a conference with teams that follow their team to away games. Also, there were zero schools in the FCS that would have drawn a crowd in Springfield. But in the FBS they have a chance to have a home game against a big team, giving them a chance for an upset. And Petrino's son in law is the coach, so at the very least, he knows how to run an offense.

    As a Wisconsin fan I wish there was another D1 team in the state, sort of like a pseudo rivalry even though if they ever played it wouldn't be competitive. It's really bizarre considering that the only FBS is team is a top 25 power 5 Wisconsin and then literally other school is D3. There's a few powerhouses like Whitewater that could D1 FCS if the wanted to but for some reason hasn't. Milwaukee is D1 in basketball and so is Green Bay.

Don't talk about other sports unless you do the research first. Also I didn't know that Liberty was a random team as you said. Liberty is one of the biggest Christian colleges in the country. How do you call them a random team. You clearly need to do your research more before you talk about things. Also you clearly don't understand budgeting between conferences. You do realize that the bears are gonna get a 10 million dollar raise in their budget right? Also where do you get your quotes and facts from? You do realize that missouri state was already division 1 right? Missouri valley confrence is d1? And also Missouri state is not even close to a new school.
