It would be great if Mizzou scheduled an annual in-state rivalry game with the Bears. It would bring revenue and exposure to MSU, as well as provide an even more attractive option for high school stars to stay in the Show Me State. Iowa and Iowa State do this even though they are in different conferences.
it would just be a blowout every year. Iowa and Iowa State are both solid established FBS teams. Mizzou is a top 10 FBS school and Missouri State is probably going to be pretty close to the bottom of the rankings.
@@prisma8525 Interesting. Do you not think that the prestige of being FCS would slowly draw better alumni support and better recruits wanting to start ASAP instead of going to Mizzou and sitting for 1-2 years? Like Texas State is slowly trying to swim with the big boys in the Lone Star State?

(Idaho also beat a conference rival by leading 56-0 at HALF, put up 61 points in a Bowl game in 2016, and was an FBS team less than a decade ago)

They are going to make more money just in fan turnout for the competition. They will be playing in a conference with teams that follow their team to away games. Also, there were zero schools in the FCS that would have drawn a crowd in Springfield. But in the FBS they have a chance to have a home game against a big team, giving them a chance for an upset. And Petrino's son in law is the coach, so at the very least, he knows how to run an offense.
As a Wisconsin fan I wish there was another D1 team in the state, sort of like a pseudo rivalry even though if they ever played it wouldn't be competitive. It's really bizarre considering that the only FBS is team is a top 25 power 5 Wisconsin and then literally other school is D3. There's a few powerhouses like Whitewater that could D1 FCS if the wanted to but for some reason hasn't. Milwaukee is D1 in basketball and so is Green Bay.
